Fear cackled, sending waves of discomfort through Jayden’s body, freezing her muscles while heightening her nerve endings. Her chest locked and she panicked, her lungs refusing to release the stale oxygen. Terror smirked with glee and settled on her head, exacerbating her feelings of helplessness with a chilling nail raked along her spinal cord. Jayden got her feet moving and as Ed yanked Peter backwards by his jacket collar, she bolted from the kitchen.
