Chapter 16It proved difficult to shower one-handed, but somehow Jayden managed it. She used her phone to call a taxi. With damp hair shoved into a messy ponytail and no makeup, she sat at the top of her stairs and contemplated her circumstances. The thought of visiting the hospital brought back memories of her past. She’d woken up after the surgery to remove her spleen and repair her stomach to discover her father hadn’t survived his injuries. Jayden believed she’d lost her mother that day. Her knees knocked against each other and disturbed her painful elbow. She released a groan of agony. “This is ridiculous!” she hissed.
