Chapter 18When Jayden woke two hours later, her head felt clearer. The deep sleep made up for her wretched night. A raging thirst assailed her as her eyes opened and she groaned and acknowledged an urgent need for the bathroom. The throb in her elbow had dulled to a bearable ache. She stumbled into the bathroom, not bothering to close the door behind her in the empty apartment. The toilet flushed, echoing against the tiles. Jayden washed her good hand and most of her cast covered hand with difficulty before attempting to clean her teeth. She plopped a ball of toothpaste onto the side of the sink with her right hand and then scooped it onto her brush without disturbing her elbow.
