CHAPTER 8

1127 Words
"Kelilah, you have to wake up!" That voice again. Only this time it sounded different, and I couldn't hear clearly what it was telling me. The voice before was powerful, loud and clear, somehow even alluring. Maybe because now it wasn't that shadow talking to me, and maybe I just imagined that it ever did. When I focused on its eyes again, I knew that I didn't imagine anything. It wasn't just in my head. It really wasn't talking to me now, but it was like that thing or whatever it was, was telling me something just with its glance. I just couldn't figure out what it was, no matter how hard I tried. "Can you hear me? Kelilah!" The voice snapped me out of the trance and when I lost my focus on the shadows' eyes I felt my head spinning like I did before when something slapped me in the face. I had no idea what was happening when the shadow spoke with its hoarse voice that was giving me shivers one last time. "Wake up now!" That thing wasn't screaming, more like whispering, but I could hear it like it was just inches from my ears. It was like an echo in my head. I closed my eyes when my world began to shake as if it wanted to fall apart. I felt helpless and if I despised something, then it was sure as hell feeling like that. I wasn't certain what to do, but when it stopped, my eyes opened for an instant. Guess it was at the right time because when they did I could see everything clearly. If I said that I was feeling confused, it would be an understatement. The feelings I had were way worse. "What the f**k?" Those were the first words that I was able to utter after my eyes were fully open, and my body fully awake. I started to understand what was happening in front of me, or at least tried to. My body was on the ground once again, only this time there was a person kneeling right in front of me, and he was way too close to my lips. Before I could even know it, my hand instinctively flew out and slapped him hard across the face. "Ouch!" Sebastian screamed and violently jumped away from me. I didn't even have to touch my cheek for me to know it was really scratched. Even though there was not an iron-smell in the air, which made me feel uneasy like before. When I tried to move, my body didn't feel sore at all, which kept me even more in the dark than I already was. Why the hell does this keep happening to me? "You really do have a strong arm for a woman. Was that really necessary?" At first, he seemed like he was in the mood to make jokes, but that last comment sounded like he was starting to get annoyed at me. "If I remember it right, I told you not to try and get that close to me ever again. You can be glad that you got out of it so easily." I smirked to try to make fun out of the whole situation, even though I meant it. I had to play my game carefully and be smart. The last thing I need is to make him angry with me. I have to make him want me and trust me, not hate me. Who would have thought it was going to be so difficult when he already showed interest in me… In an instant, his usual self returned as he smirked back at me and theatrically commented on my remark. "Yeah. Sorry that I don't like being slapped around by everyone. I have to admit that I like it when you try to touch me, but why so violent sweetheart? I know better ways to use your abilities." When the last words were leaving his lips they formed into the biggest smile that I had seen him with so far, while I had to roll my eyes a bit at him again. His thoughts were dirty, but that smile was honest. He was totally enjoying it and thought he was the one who was in control of the situation. Fine then. I will let him think that. Who knows, maybe it will come to my advantage later. "Well, maybe if you weren't trying to get so close to me every time you get a chance, I wouldn't have to be so violent." The frustration started to build up inside of me, yet I couldn't help but grin at my comeback. Obviously satisfied with myself and the fact that I won over him again. "Wait." My brows furrowed and I eyed him suspiciously. "Why were you even...? Whatever you were doing, and mostly what are you even doing here? Are you following me?" My brows furrowed even more as the thought was said out loud. The suspicion was obvious from both my tone and my face. It just didn't make sense to me and I wanted the answers at any cost. "What do you mean? What was I doing? Wasn't it obvious? I wanted to save this little feisty sleeping beauty. Pft! He smiled, but I could see a glimpse of nervousness. Wait, was that fear in his dark brown eyes? Maybe I just imagined it. In the end, why would he care about me? We are not even friends. Just two people with a common goal. "To answer your last question. I could ask you the same, don't you think? Do you even realize that it's forbidden for students to be so far into the woods?" He took me out of my thoughts. And one word echoed in my mind. "What are you talking about? I was just walking around the campus. If that's far for you, then I don't know." Confusion was written all over my face when I turned my head to the other side to look around me when I realized that he was right. This looked like the place from my dream. I wasn't sure if my head was toying with me or if I was just simply going crazy. All of this was absolutely insane and surreal. I shook my head in disbelief, still trying to figure out what was happening. "What the f*ck happened to you? Sebastian asked me with a hint of worry in his tone when he spit those words through his gritted teeth, his fists clenched at his sides, he broke me out of my trance. It was pretty obvious he was angry yet frustrated, and it took me a few seconds before I realized what he was talking about.
