Meera leaned slightly toward Sakshi and whispered, “Okay, I admit it. He actually teaches well.” Sakshi tried to look unaffected. “I never said he didn’t.” “Mhm.” Meanwhile, Adit continued writing the weekly timetable on the board neatly. As the students copied everything down, Sakshi absentmindedly watched him for a moment before quickly stopping herself. Sakshi sighed quietly to herself. This semester was already becoming dangerous for her peace of mind. Surprisingly… The next two hours passed unbelievably fast. At some point, the nervousness inside the classroom had completely disappeared. Students who were awkward and silent earlier were now laughing, asking questions, and casually interacting with each other. Even Sakshi forgot about time for a while. That rarely happened to her. Usually, long lectures felt endless. But today, between Adit’s explanations, random jokes, student interactions, and discussions about films and storytelling… When the bell finally rang through the corridor— Everyone looked slightly shocked. “That was two hours?” one student asked dramatically from the back. “No way.” “Why did that feel so short?” Adit closed the attendance file with a small amused smile. “That reaction disappears near assignment deadlines,” he warned calmly. The class laughed again. “Alright,” he continued while picking up his books, “You have your break now. The next faculty will probably arrive in twenty minutes, so try not to destroy the classroom before that.” “We’ll try, sir,” someone replied immediately. “Unconvincing answer.” More laughter spread across the room. As students slowly began standing up and stretching, Sakshi looked at the clock near the classroom door in disbelief. Beside her, Meera dropped dramatically onto the desk. “Okay,” she admitted honestly, “that was actually a good class.” Sakshi smiled slightly while closing her notebook. “Hm.” Meera immediately narrowed her eyes. “That smile means you’re emotionally invested now.” “I’m invested in surviving college.” “Liar.” Before Sakshi could reply, movement near the front of the classroom caught her attention. Adit was still standing near the desk, speaking to a few students who had gone to ask questions about schedules and electives. For some reason, sunlight from the corridor windows fell across the classroom at that exact moment, making the entire scene look strangely cinematic again. Sakshi immediately looked away from him. This was becoming embarrassing. Sakshi and Meera packed their notebooks quickly while students slowly started leaving the classroom in noisy groups. “Food first,” Meera declared dramatically while standing up. “College survival depends on snacks.” Sakshi laughed softly and picked up her bag. The two of them were just about to walk out of the classroom when— “Meera.” Both girls stopped instantly. Sakshi turned around automatically. Adit stood near the front desk holding a few papers in one hand. Meera blinked in surprise. “Sir?” “Can you come here for a second?” Meera immediately looked at Sakshi with a suspicious expression that clearly said Why do I feel important suddenly? Sakshi looked equally confused. “Go,” she whispered. Meera walked toward the front while Sakshi waited awkwardly near the classroom door pretending not to pay attention. Which obviously failed completely. Adit handed Meera a printed sheet. “These are the preliminary details for the Creative Writing Club registrations,” he explained. “Shaan finalized them this morning.” Meera’s eyes lit up instantly. “Oh!” “You and your friend seemed interested yesterday,” Adit continued casually. “So I thought I’d give it to you early before the official notice gets flooded in the student portal.”
