Chapter Sixteen
Lucian’s POV********
A loud splash broke the quiet river air as she tumbled in, arms flailing. Her scream was short, cut off by the water and followed by a breathless gasp as she surfaced, sputtering.
“Lucian!” she shrieked, water dripping from her chin. “You…absolute jerk..” She made to curse at me but ended up swallowing water. She spat it out, pushing her wet hair from her face.
I laughed, the sound echoing off the trees, as I watched her struggle in the water. And just then the thought of her drowning hit me. What if she had zero knowledge about swimming as well? Would she drown like the way Kyel almost did the first time he tried swimming? Would I lose her the same way I lost Ariel?
Her head went under the water and my heart stopped beating for a moment.
