“Miss. Carter,” the man whose features still couldn't see properly says.
“How do you know my name?” I ask fiercely, hiding how scared I am as I hold the stick tighter to myself.
“I know you must have taken notice of me and you must have been curious.”
I was beyond terrified. He must have been the creep that had been stalking me all day but why? The man continued, “I do not mean you any harm. I just need to talk to you.”
“You still haven't answered my question," I say bravely. "Who are you and why have you been following me?” I ask, ensuring my statement didn't come out, projecting how scared I was.
He made a clicking sound with his tongue. " Just exactly as they had described you.” He says, walking forward a bit.
If my voice wasn't portraying how scared I was, my face definitely would have as I watched him take steps towards me.
“Who said?” I asked, taking a pause. “Why have you been following me? What exactly do you want from me?” he didn't answer and I eyed him once more. "Who sent you? Sebastian?”
I knew the answer to the last bit but I just had to ask. Taking a mere glance at the man, it was so glaring that Sebastian couldn't afford to have sent whoever this was to follow me. Even with the dim light, I could tell that the black jacket he had on was even more expensive than Sebastian and I salary combined.
Just who was this man?
“I am in no place to answer any of your questions. I was only sent to deliver a message” He says and nothing about that made me relieved. For all I know he might be a kidnapper or one of those guys that sells women for money.
“Show me your hands and step into the light,” I say, trying to put on a tough face even though I was beyond terrified. “I won't hesitate to hit you and trust me I won't go easy on you”
He smiled somewhat amused and I didn't blame him, the situation was amusing, he could easily overpower me without much effort. “like I said just exactly the way they described you” He said and did as I had asked.
He was dressed in all black with a face cap and a ski mask as well, the corridor light was not playing a good role in helping my vision.
“I understand your concerns Miss Simons but consider this if I have ever had any intention to harm you, I would have probably done so, as you must have probably caught a glimpse of me once or twice around you, I have been monitoring you which I am sure you are well aware of and I am sorry if it made you apprehensive.”
“That still does not put my mind at ease but Thanks I guess.”
“What is it you said you wanted to deliver?” I say reluctantly, warily eyeing him slowly. I can not believe I'm having a casual conversation with the person who just invaded my house and refused to answer any of my questions.
“The boss would like to have a word with you tomorrow” was all he said as he made his way out.
“Hey! Wait'' I yelled and rushed outside but he was nowhere to be seen.
I know my next action wasn't one of the wisest decisions I have made but I still did it anyway, I slept, I slept in the house that had just been invaded but what else was I to do? I believed I wouldn't be harmed. naive of me, I know.
The next morning, Daphne was back home from her night out. I showered and dressed for work. I arrived at work early, wanting to take my mind off last night's event as I felt it was just a bad dream that felt so realistic.
“What time will the meeting be commencing?” I asked Micheal as he stopped by to greet me.
“Right now,” he says, glancing at his wristwatch and looking back up at me.
“I'll be there in a second," I say, picking up my sketches from last night, I made my way to the meeting room and the meeting commenced the moment everyone was seated.
The meeting went on and on for about two hours as everyone showcased what they had in mind to make the project perfect.
“Finally, we've come to the end of this meeting. I would like to give special thanks to everyone for such lovely ideas and I hope we can put these ideas together to make a perfect dress.” Sage says, addressing each one of us that was present.
I made my way out of the meeting room to meet a man, fitted in a well-tailored suit which by the looks of it looked expensive. He sat confidently on my office chair as everyone gawked at him through the windows including Daphne and Sebastian.
“I assume we've met before,” he says, flashing me his pearly white teeth.
Oh right, He was the guy from the club, what did he want now?
“We have” I hesitated and asked “and what do I owe you?”
“It won't be wise of us having this type of conversation in the open, don't you think?” He asks, getting up from my chair and dusting imaginary dust off his suit.
“After you,” he says, taking a slight bow, causing me to furrow my brow at the action.
I am so dead when I get back, and how do I know? It was written all over Daphne's face.
I made my way out of the company with the man behind me and into a black karlmann king. Despite my current situation, I couldn't help but gawk in awe at the car, it was more than beautiful.
“Holy mother of macaroni” I mumbled as my gaze ran over the interior.
“I never knew there was a mother of macaroni,” he said, stroking his chin.
“Very funny”
“Who are you?” I ask, looking away from the interior of the car to the man. "Are you the guy from last night?” I asked with wide eyes.
“No, and I'm Matteo Demitri.” he calmly says.
“What do you want from me? Why have you been following me?” I asked hoping he would answer what I just asked.
“You are actually what he wants and no I haven't been following you.” He says sitting back. "Please save the questions for later, we are almost there,” he says as if sensing I had more to say.
“Rude,” I say with an eye roll looking out the other side of the window. Why exactly did I get into the car? I'm beginning to think this isn't a good idea.
The car came to a stop and I was ushered outside by Matteo and into a hotel, one of the most famous hotels to be precise. We made our way into an elevator, taking us to the top floor.
“Be on your best behavior princess,” he says, pinching my cheeks and winking.
“Touch me one more time and you will be leaving this elevator with no fingers and very little teeth,” I say, flashing him a smile.
“Feisty I see, just exactly what the boss should like,” he says, leaning back and smirking.
“Gross, I heard that you know” I deadpanned.
“I know”
The elevator door opens up and he steps out with me trailing behind, it's time for some big girl shoes now. We made our way to the door of an office and he knocked twice and walked away.
“Hey," I called. " Where are you going?” I ask with a questioning brow.
“It's between you and him darling,” he says and walks off, again gross. The doors opened up, I walked in to see a man with his back against me staring down at the glass window that showed the whole world literally.
“You have grown so well,” he says with his hands fully tucked in his suit pants, with his back still facing me.
He had such a nice accent but now wasn't the time to admire.
“Excuse you” I sassed, folding my arms.
“We will be getting married.”
