Mysterious woman

Miles had been in back to back meetings all day and all of it had left him exhausted. Managing the Tech company at the same time directing the flow of drugs into the country had left him with little to no time to rest. He might have been suffering inside but what the world saw was a different picture. He was one of the most influential under thirty men in the world. People suspected that he might be into drug dealing but there was no proof of it, however what was clear was one should never cross paths with him. His taste in women ranged from models to actresses. A lot knew him as old money but there was a lot of untold stories about his life. A lot hid behind the intimidating greek god mask he put on. Miles was an illegitimate son of the Niles Quincy and he was the only one of Niles's illegitimate children who had a humble maternal background. Men in the Quincy family were known for being lose and getting into the pants of almost anything that resembled a woman, however they still had preferences. News of Niles' infidelity came as no news but when it came to light that it was with a human it became a problem. The Quincy family being one of the oldest known descendants of the first werewolves chose to keep their bloodline as pure as it could ever be. They mated with only some of the finest bloodlines and the illegitimate children had maternal relations with prestigious bloodlines. Miles was the exception, the Miltons his maternal family abandoned him as they did not want anything to do with a Quincy as he had been told. In as much as he was proof of Niles's weak moments the Quincy family valued blood thus they had taken him in. From the moment he was born he was taught to observe the hierarchy that came along with the Quincy name. Purebloods, wolves, dogs and lastly halfbloods, and he was in the last category. With four pure blood brothers and three pureblood sisters all from prestigious families he was the only one who lacked a name and the right links. He had often been reminded of how unlucky he was however that didn't stop him from looking for a way out. It was common knowledge that the alpha had to be the most powerful male and one also with a strong background, Miles lacking in both categories. Adrian the second oldest of his brother was the apple of their father's eyes and he had his eyes set for the alpha title from birth. His oldest brother Sergio who was the only legitimate son of Niles seemed to have no interest in matters involving werewolf politics as well as anything also related to their drug business. He preferred living his life the clean way which was greatly frowned upon as they were werewolves and clean was a word which existed not in their dictionary. Sergio and their grandmother were the only people who had Miles' back and he greatly respected them. A lot had happened over the years and somehow after a long day on that particular day it was all he could think of. "Sir, i just reeived news that one of our warehouses caught fire!" Meghan his secretary said getting him out of his reverie. It was not their first warehouse to catch fire and for some reasons it was becoming frequent. "Get the car ready!" he instructed her as he jumped out of his seat. There was no way there were going to be able to save anything, but the least they could do was try to get evidence of the cause behind the fires. Someone was trying to undermine his leadership and the only way they could was if they proved his incompetence to protect the business. He couldn't pinpoint who the enemy was as he had made some in business as well as those who wanted his titles. The twenty drive to the warehouse was the longest twenty minutes he had ever had. "Did you get the surveillance tapes? Who is in charge here?" he shouted furiously as he stepped out of the car. "We were able to get the surveillance tapes but by the time we got here the guy who was in charge was no way to be found!" a man stammered as he narrated whilst keeping his distance. Miles was unpredictable when he was angry and everyone who knew him, knew that it was best to stay away in such cases. "What is that sound?" Miles asked. "What sound?" Meghan asked confused. "There is someone in the fire," he said before he ran into the fire without hesitating. He ignored all the voices calling for him to stop. It was too hot even for him but with his great sense of sight and hearing he was able to spot the person in no tim It was a woman, he hesitated for a moment before picking her up from the ground. He broke through the blazing fire and placed her on the ground next to Meghan. The fire had destroyed his clothes ans burnt him a lot. "You are hurt!" Meghan said with worry in her voice. He ignored her as he examined the woman he had just rescued. The side of her face was badly burny and he looked down on her chest. She had been shot and her pulse was getting weak. "It's her who is hurt, call the doctor and tell him to meet us at home," he lifted her and placed her carefully in the backseat. As soon as they got to his house the doctor was waiting with nurses at the front door. It was only fair that a mafia leader and the alpha get first hand medical attention and also those around him. The drug business came with a lot of danger and they had a family doctor ready to help out whenever he was needed. "I will need to operate on her, she has three bullet wounds and her face is burnt. The odds are not in our favor on this one," the doctor told him so that he would prepare for the worst if it comes to that. "Do what you can," he told the doctor. He headed to his office and one of his security men was right behind him. "I need you to find everything you can about that woman. Why she was at the warehouse and why she had bullet wounds. Find any connection there might be between me and her. Find that missing manager. I need all that information on my desk in less than an hour. Her fingerprints are on my jacket," Miles instructed. The man bowed before he left. He needed to know why an almost dead woman was in his burning warehouse. In less than an hour as he had ordered the security man was back. "Sir, the fingerprints belong to Mrs. Cara Matthews the owner of Matthews and Co. She recently became a billionaire due to the inheritance she got from her parents' death. She is a lawyer by profession but she hasnt practised for more than two years. She is married to Richard Mesa, a partner at Morel and Smith. They have a daughter who is two years old called Hannah. She hired a private investigator to track her husband. She got news that he was cheating and she is filing for divorce and threatening to take everything from him. Her friend reported her missing this morning. Her friend took her daughter yesterday and when she got back she was not around. I am sorry I was not able to find anything on the manager give me more time," the security guy told him. "So what is the connection?" He asked. "I haven’t been able to find any as of this moment but I will keep looking for answers." His phone rang and he signalled for the man to leave. "Sir the surgery is done, you can come down here so we can talk," the doctor told him. He sighed in relief. He stood from his chair and made it to where the private clinic was. "So the bullets managed to miss the vital organs, so it is safe to say she is out of danger for now," the doctor narrated. "Thank you doctor, so when will she wake up." "Any time from now but you have to make sure that she does not strain herself under any give circumstances." The doctor had been in charge of the family affairs even when his father was still alive. She was the only bridge to getting the answers she needed and he needed her alive. There was too much at stake and he needed her to fill the blanks. **** She had been out for two more days and he was getting impatient. "Doctor is there another problem, was the operatiom not a success as you said?" he asked with impatience in his voice. "Doctor, she is awake and she is saying a lot of stuff!" a nurse came running. They ran to her room. "Where am I? Where is my daughter, did he send you to do this? I want to go please let me go to my daughter!" she cried out hysterically. "Ma'am, we need you to calm down, you just had a surgery. If you move around too much the stitches will get damaged," the doctor tried to explain to her. "No this is part of his plan, let me go!" "Let her go!" Miles said coldly. "But sir she just had a surgery," the doctor told him. "Let he go, we are not holding her here against her will!" he gave a firm order this time. The nurses who were holding her down let her loose. She tried to get out of the bed and fell to the ground. She winced in pain. Miles stepped forward and the nurses made way. He picked her from the ground and placed her back to her bed. "This is why you can't leave, if you try you will die. You are not fit to move around," he told her coldly before leaving the room. He was not on for small talks and he preferred to make a statement more than just talking. A week went by and he was constanly informed of her recovery. "Sir, she is requesting to speak with you. She has been waiting outside the door," a man told him as he sat with Meghan and a few of his close friends. "Let me go take care of it," Meghan stood from her seat. "Don't bother, its long overdue. Let her in," he ordered the man. She walked into the room and nothing seemed to intimidate her. "Well Mrs. Mesa or should I say Miss. Matthews? You really have an interesting life I have to say!" Miles pointed out sarcastically. "Being shot is that what you call interesting or maybe being cheated on by your husband and best friend. Remind me here which part is interesting," she said with no fear in her voice. "Such is life, so why did I find you in my burning warehouse? And most of all what do you plan to do about those who betrayed you?" he asked her. Her answer was going to determine a way forward. She moved forward and stood facing him directly and all that separated them was the table. “I want them to pay!” she said, “No I want them to die!” she banged hard on the table sending chills down his spine. “How dare you act so disrespectful in front of the alpha? Such insolence is intolerable and I will not have it!” Meghan stood from her seat. “Nothing scares me at all, I am a wounded tiger, I have nothing to lose I have already lost everything. If I am to go down I might as well take someone with me,” the lady barked back. “Then I might as well…” Meghan said but before she could finish Miles cut her short. “Be quiet!” he growled hard. "I don't know if I should admire your guts or I should feel sorry for your ignorance of the whole situation in front of you," Miles walked round the table and stod next to her, his eyes changed color into a deep red color. She moved back and covered her mouth in shock. "Do you understand now what this means or are you that dumb?" he asked her. "You are the an alpha, you are a werewolf!" she stammered. "Now you got the hang of it, Meghan get a chair for our guest," he instructed Meghan as he moved away from the woman. A chair was placed behind her and she was forced onto it. "So i see, revenge is that what you seek?" he asked her. She simply nodded her head. “Woman how far are you willing to go for this your so-called revenge?” he moved with great swiftness and he stood very close to her and he could hear her heartbeat. “It seems to be the only way out of the situation I am in. I trusted the wrong people and I am in this mess because of that so I dont care even if I have to go to hell and make a deal with the devil I will do it willingly. Even if i have to go down there to hell and drag him by his lapels back to earth I will gladly. So as far as will know my life is not of any importance than what i am feeling right now. I will go to any lengths to get it," she stood up and faced him head on “Then what if i ask you to become my bride?" he asked and reached for her hand. “Is this a test? And if i fail will you kill me?” she tried to escape his grip “Miles!" Meghan shouted. “How dare you shout at your alpha?” he yelled at her “I am sorry!” she looked down He shifted his focus back to that woman. “What do you say?” he smirked as he looked at her. Her breath got louder and her heart pounced even faster. He covered her mouth as she ran out of the room. She was full of surprises, no one had ever left his presence without being excuses. He ran after her ignoring all the voices calling him. “Cara!” he knocked at the toilet door. “What, what do you want?” she asked from behind the door. “You know this is not the way to do things, you might as well open the door and we can have a rational conversation like adullts." She ignored him and he kicked the door with no hesitation. “Hey!” she shouted. He moved towards her and gently caressed the side of her face. “Why are you doing this to me? What’s there to admire about me, look at my face it’s disfigured?” she pointed at her burnt face. “The scars are what makes you that beautiful,” he chuckled lightly before walking away. He could not believe what he had just proposed. "Miles what was that back there?" Meghan caught up with him, "I take it wasa joke right?" "No, I was serious," he walked away leaving her standing. Whatever the reason was she was in his warehouse, he needed that woman.
