“Did you find him?” Casey asked Damien the minute he went into her room. He could see her relief when he nodded yes.
“So, he’s fine. I was worried. No one knew where I hid him, I had to protect him. I was supposed to go back for him but then…” she went silent.
“You did good Casey. Hiding him from the rogues saved him.” A small smile formed on her lips at his approval.
“I guess he’s father found him, I knew he would.” She smiled at her own thoughts; she didn’t see Damien’s look of worry, but she heard it when he spoke.
“Casey,” she immediately looked at him, something telling her everything was about to be all wrong again.
“I have to tell you something.”
“What?”
“Aiden, Kenny’s father…”
“…Yes?”
“He died three months ago in the attack. He died, saving a seven-year-old boy.”
