Casey felt like she’d been hit by a truck, her mind felt groggy and her body hurt; she didn’t even know where she was. She stirred slowly and felt the soft bed beneath her. She forced herself to open her eyes, even if doing just that hurt everywhere. She was in a very dark room, was it night? She wondered, she took her time internalizing her environment. The walls around her looked white, she thought she couldn’t tell; it was too dark, but she was sure the ceiling was white. Casey had a feeling the whole room was tiled white, the machines beeping beside her reminded Casey of a hospital. Was she in a hospital? Why was she in a hospital?
