“Do we need to go over the rules again, princess?” Cara heard Damien taunt.
“You need to let Casey see her family.” She told him fighting for Casey, Cara understood how broken she felt from the loss of her family. She and Amy barely got her through when her parents died the first time, and now Cara knew she wouldn’t survive the loss twice.
“NO!” he said with such conviction.
Cara wondered why he was so cruel, and in another life, maybe she would care to find out. But in this one, she was just as broken as he was, too hurt to heal and filled with rage.
