Scarlett reached her apartment and she was thinking about why William suddenly asked her to pretend to be his girlfriend. After a few minutes, she stands up and prepares her dinner. After finishing her dinner, she sat down on the sofa and decided to watch a movie, but as soon as she opened the television, her phone suddenly rang. It was her mother.

- Mom, it's already late. Why are you suddenly calling me?

'' Scarlett, I need your help. Your brother and I need money.''

- Did Alex gamble again? Mom, you know that I don't earn that much. Why didn't you stop Alex from gambling?

'' Are you that heartless child? I raised and gave you everything and this is what you want to return to us. If you want to die us both, then don't bother helping us.''

Scarlett's mother yelled at her on the phone. After a few seconds, another voice can be heard on the other line.

'' If you still want to see your mother and brother alive. Bring us an amount of 1 million dollars to pay for your brother's loan. Remember don't bring any police or you won't see them alive again.''

- But I don't have that kind of money. Where should I find that amount?

'' That's not our problem, Miss. I'll send you the location to meet me at 4AM tomorrow. You still have six hours to prepare. Don't make me wait too long. I don't have that much patience.''

Scarlett can hear screaming on the other side like they are hurting her mother and brother.

- I'll bring you the cash tomorrow. Just don't hurt them.

'' I am waiting for you tomorrow''

The other line got disconnected. She didn't know what to do. She couldn't think of another way. Where would she find an amount of 1 million dollars? She suddenly remembered William. She dialed William's number and:

'' Hello, Miss Scarlett, what's the matter? Have you changed your mind already?

- Yes, I'll accept your offer, but, for one request, I need the money right now.

'' No problem. I'll come to your house personally.''

William drove to Scarlet's apartment. Scarlett waited for William and a knock on the door could be heard.

'' Here is your request. You must fulfill my request and I'll have the contract drafted and I'll send it to you once it is done.''

- Thank you. I will.

'' Ohh, I'll take my leave.''

William handed over the check and left. But William felt something wrong so he didn't leave. He was on standby for his car and called Ethan.

'' I know it's late. I'll pay double overtime, just come to me. I'll send you the address.

A few minutes later, Ethan finally arrived and got into the driver's seat.

'' What's the matter, Boss? It was already so late. I was sleeping soundly and you..

'' I'll pay you double. Just shut up. I was just feeling something wrong.''

Scarlett can be seen getting out of the gate and calling a cab.

'' Wait, where is Miss Scarlett going? It was already so late. So you called because of her. I might think you're already concerned for her, Mr. Li. I swear.''

'' If you utter one more word again, then forget about getting paid for this overtime.''

Ethan sat quietly while both of them watched Scarlett get into the cab.

'' Follow her.'' as William instructed.

After 30 minutes of following Scarlett, they noticed that it was a sub-urb.

'' Why did Miss Scarlett try to come here in the middle of the night?''

'' No, something is not right. Call the police, Ethan. ''

Ethan called the police and gave them their current location as soon as the cab stopped and Scarlett got out. She knocked on the high gate. Someone opened the gate and closed it again. Ethan and William got out of the car and tried to find a hole that let them see what was happening inside. Finally, they found something that they could enter at the side. They quietly enter and hide at the side where people can't notice them. After a few minutes,

'' Your daughter is really obedient. Look, she made her way here alone bringing that cash. But sadly, that's not enough..'' a man said.

- Not enough. You said it was 1 million dollars and you claim that it's not enough. Are you joking with me? Let my mother and brother free.

'' What a brave woman. I liked you, a beautiful and sexy woman. You sure had a beautiful daughter.''

The man approaches Scarlett and touches her on her arm.

- Don't touch me. How dare a filthy hand of you dare to touch me.

'' Oh really, then don't make me more merciless.''

Then the man went straight up to his brother and punched him until blood could be seen.

Her mother pleaded to the man...

'' You can have her as you wish. Please just let my son go.''

Hearing what her mother uttered, she was taken back and..

'' You can have my daughter as you wish, do whatever you want. Just let my son go.'' as her mother pleaded to the man.

The man walked towards Scarlett and said,

'' Do you hear that, you are mine now. Let the boy go and leave both of you now.'' the man shouted at them angrily.

Scarlett's tears were falling down from her eyes. She couldn't believe that she had been abandoned by her own mother.

'' Mom, don't leave me behind. Mom...mommmmm...

She shouted as both of them disappeared, but it felt they didn't even hear a single call she uttered. It was not the first time that Scarlett had been mistreated by her own mother, but this time it made her fall to the ground, which makes her unbelievable.

- I'm her daughter too, but why is she like this to me? Don't you treat me as your daughter too.
