Chapter 39

Bruce brought Loulou home that evening after the healers had their session. Even though she hadn't fully healed, she was getting better already. He took her to rest in his room back at the palace. He knew since they are mates, being in his room with his smell will help her heal better. He gave her an excuse that since he failed to protect her under his watch, at least let him take care of her till she is fully recovered.

Loulou just quietly accepts all these. She didn’t have any other opinions. It’s not that she doesn’t think any further of all these. She does. But she doesn’t see any bad motives from Bruce. She is naive and she hates that about herself as she is already well above 30years old on this earth.

Bruce was just waiting for her to be fully healed. He had to break the news to her about her ex-mate and he wanted to do it when they’re both alone. He understands that she might need support but he would rather do it privately than having his whole family in the room.

“Now that you’ve fully healed, I have some news for you about your ex-mate. Before I tell you everything, I want you to be mentally prepared. Also, please Loulou. Please know that you’re not alone in this. You have me. You have us, Meredith and Richard. Brothers and sisters that love you. You’re family to us now. Don’t forget that.”

Loulou thought about what Bruce said for a while bracing herself for the bad news. She mostly was a little confused about the royals claiming her as family. 

“Okay. I”m ready.” she was fiddling with her fingers as a form of distraction.

“ We’ve dug into the guy’s profile. This is his current profile. He’s a gamma at his pack with a mate. When he went to your pack, he already had a pup who was 4 years old.” Bruce handed Loulou the file.

Loulou opened it and read through the first few lines slowly. She was afraid to see the truth. Her hand was crumbling the edge of the file. She stared at the picture of the man who was her mate.

“What else?” Loulou asked, afraid to read more on her own.

“We’ve managed to find out more about how the pup came along from their pack members. Ellese and Marcus were a couple in secret when they were young. When she got her wolf before Marcus,  she found out that her moon mate wasn’t him but the gamma ranked before Marcus. They conspired to take down the Gamma so Marcus could be one. As she had already found her mate, she got into heat and ……” 

“Why do we need to know about him?”, Loulou tried to sound nonchalantly as she drops the file on her lap.

“Lou… in order to get back your wolf, the rejection needs to take place in person. My dad believes your wolf is hiding the pain of your mate marking someone else without a proper rejection” Bruce sighs.

Loulou was hearing all these while her hand was grabbing the top skin of her wrist. She was digging her nails into her skin, causing them to be red, almost bleeding. Bruce placed his hand over hers, putting a gentle touch for her to stop. She stopped doing it and slowly released the grip on her hand as if Bruce’s touch had a calming effect.

There was silence but not in Loulou’s mind. All she was thinking was after all these years, she thought that she was well away from him but that wasn’t the truth. He was still tied to her somehow. She didn’t like it. Just like Jerry has Nicole, Marcus has a mate. Why was she always not the chosen one? 

“How could I be? I’m ugly and useless. Why would anybody want me?” Loulou thought.

Bruce didn’t like this silence one bit. He couldn’t tell what was on Loulou’s mind. He was afraid that she might be blaming herself once again. Instead of pushing her to speak what’s on her mind, Bruce knew he had to talk of something that might steer her attention.

“ Loulou, if you like, I do have a plan for your vengeance. He’s only a gamma but what he doesn’t know is you’re an alpha. Your father is a true alpha by the moon goddess which makes you a true alpha too. This time, you’ll be the one rejecting him. He will feel the pain.” Bruce tried getting this through to Loulou.

Loulou still wasn’t responding. She had her head looking down but she was listening. Bruce tried another approach. “If that doesn’t help, you always have a lycan prince as your backup. I’ll punch the living light out of him.”

“Okay”, Loulou said softly. 

“ OKAY I will punch the hell out of him. Wait what?” Bruce was confused for a moment when Loulou finally spoke.

“ We’ll do all that you said. Meet him and reject him.” Loulou had no more opinion on this matter. She likes being led by Bruce since she doesn’t have any power to do anything. She feels like a useless person with zero resources except for having Bruce.

She tries to feel for Raven again but it’s empty at her spot. All she wanted to do now was to officially cut ties with Marcus. Whatever he has done or whatever he is doing now is none of her business. " He has the right to choose who he love plus he already has a pup. " Loulou thought as she pull up her blanket and lie on her pillow, letting tears escape her eyes.
