Nana
Two days are up pretty quickly. I’ve already discussed everything with my aunts. Even though I might be far, they can always contact me about anything. A phone call or an email, I will always be able to reply to them. I assured them. They couldn’t have been happier for me to actually be working for a prince. They said I totally deserve it for all the hard work I’ve put in. They’ve seen me putting in so much effort just to live. They didn’t want to be the ones to hold me back. And they told me not to worry about the diner anymore. They can just always hire more staff if they need to cover the opening hours.
I hugged my aunts before saying goodbye to them. It was time to leave this land that I grew up on and go to the city where there are humans. A man in a suit picked up my luggage and put it inside the prince’s car boot. The prince had personally come to pick me up from the apartment. I have no real clue about where we are going actually. I’m always the shy kind, hardly asking questions even though I really want to.
I don’t even know what his company does, where we are going, what we will be doing. I mean what will I be doing? What job is he giving me? I guess the prince noticed my face must be showing all sorts of wheels turning in my mind.
“You’re a pretty quiet one, aren’t you?”
I nodded in agreement with an “eh”.
Two seconds later he is laughing. “That’s all?”
“Huh?”
“That’s all you have to say?”
“Eh. yeah. I’m a quiet person your highness” trying to add the formalities to extend my sentence to speak more since he is saying I’m a quiet one.
“ I’m Bruce, Prince Bruce of the royal family. Son of the King’s uncle’s father’s brother’s friend’s cousin’s….”
What the heck is he saying….? I arched an eyebrow at him as the list went on.
“Just kidding. I’m not that important. I’m just part of the royal family but I’m not the crown prince nor is my family in line to be king” He smiled as he touched his bald head. I guess he knows that I’m not amused by his joke. My friends like to call me the serious one in the clique.
“ I’m Louisseena, but you can call me Lou”.
I like being called “Lou” for short now instead of “Louis” ever since my friends gave me that nickname. “Nana” is what my family calls me and I prefer it to be the nickname for my family. “Louis” is what I would introduce myself to people, probably in a more serious setting.
After a few moments of silence, I plucked up my courage to ask where I would be accommodating.
Bruce smiled, “You’ll be staying at my penthouse. Don’t worry about rent. Since I am the one recruiting you, you don’t have to pay for anything. Treat it like a long work trip and that the company pays for it”. I’m more than excited. Mostly because I like free stuff.
The prince carried on to explain what his new business is about. It was about jewellery whereby he wants me to start with everyone and to learn things as everyone moves along.
“ Oh. What kind of jewellery are you selling?”
“ You know out there, there is a lot of jewellery that are made from silver and we werewolves or lycans are unable to wear them. So our jewellery will be focused on being anti-silver and market towards them”
“Hmm. But you can just make them with gold or plastic, isn’t it?”
Bruce chuckled and answered, “ Of course we can, my dear .. wo.u.”.
Shit. I almost said My Dear Wolf. Luckily her name is Lou, hope she doesn’t notice it. Calm down Bruce, she doesn’t know it yet.
“We will focus on this aspect to create outstanding jewellery with other materials and make them as beautiful from its looks to match the silvers and still maintain its high quality. Pure gold will be too expensive. Plastic would be too cheap looking. We will be mostly using titanium or stainless steel as the base.”
I was pondering over the next question but it makes me nervous to ask since I’m not a business minded person. Bruce asked me to speak my mind.
“ Do we shifters really want to wear any accessories? It seems hard to have them on when we shift.”
Bruce touched his bald head once again. “ Aren’t you a lady Lou?”
I shrugged. “ I’m ugly, doesn’t matter what I wear, I’ll still be ugly”
Bruce stopped touching his head and a growl could be heard emitting from his chest.
“ Don’t you ever say that about yourself. You’re mine. I don’t want you talking bad about yourself”
“Mine…? I felt so flustered as I stared at him surprised.
“You’re my employee. We don’t allow ourselves to talk bad about ourselves”
Shit. I almost scare her again.
