Chapter 21

940 Words
Lou POV: The lycan prince just left me there alone in the bathroom. We almost crossed the line. I shudder as I thought about it. The prince is so handsome, he must have somebody, a female, probably a royal female lycan somewhere in the palace. I collected myself and took a shower before going back to my room. I lay in bed under the covers, feeling a bit cold, missing his warm touch as I drifted off to sleep. I woke up the next day and took a look at my phone. It’s way past noon. I opened my chat messenger and saw that my group chat had over a hundred messages. I scrolled to the top and started reading it. The beginning of it was asking where I was, why wasn’t I at lunch. Afterwards it’s mostly about them chatting about the game we all were playing.  I replied that I was sleeping. It was my day off and I’m having a vacation. They replied almost immediately as if they had glued their eyes to their phone and weren’t busy working. Jerry: “Good life Lou ! I wish I can take a vacation too. You know how work is” Max: “ Huh? You didn’t mention it yesterday..” Someone else: “She’s just sad that Elliot has left, she doesn't want to deal with the workload alone. Haha ! Caught you.” Elliot: “Wow ! Now it’s my fault?!”  I replied back a few and then put down my phone, heading towards the kitchen. It hit me that it’s a work day and I’ve forgotten to wake up early to prepare breakfast for the prince. He likes having at least 4 eggs for breakfast, no matter how I cook it. Scrambled, soft boiled, poached eggs etc. I even introduced him deep fried eggs whereby it's a sunny side up but the side is all golden and crunched up. He loves to have it with fried rice or fish milk soup. He would ask me to even cook another 4 of them for dinner. It depended on what else we had at home and I tried to pair them together. As I walked into the kitchen, I saw a yellow sticky note pasted on the island countertop. “ Don’t worry about breakfast. I’ll get it on the way. Rest well Loulou. See you tonight” signed off Bruce. Loulou? I stared at the note, at the words “see you tonight”. It’s going to be awkward now that we’ve kissed. I rolled my lips inwards as I thought about yesterday. My mind drifted to the thought of ‘my husband’ coming home after work.  Snap out of it Lou ! He probably has someone. Can you stop daydreaming about him?! I huffed out as I opened the fridge taking a look at what's inside. Since I have lots of time, I might as well prepare something that isn’t so rushed for dinner. It didn’t have much so I decided to head out to eat lunch and do a little grocery shopping. I spend the rest of the day prepping and cooking for dinner at home. I made hummus and pita bread from scratch. I love hummus as it has lemon juice in it. I love the creamy texture with the tartness of the lemon. For mains, I slow roasted a chunk of beef and blanched some asparagus. I added extra black pepper as Bruce and I love freshly cracked black pepper. I’ve seen him crackling extra black pepper on the eggs and some of the dishes I’ve cooked for him. I assumed he likes it. He never told me what he really likes or doesn’t like. He just said to cook whatever I want and he’ll eat it. Beats takeout or cooking himself, he said. I bet if I ask him, he might just tell me chicken nuggets. Bruce POV: I walked into the house smelling my favourite black pepper roast beef. The very same aroma I smell on the day I met my mate. I breathed in deeply, enjoying the memory. “Loulou I’m home ”  I whispered to myself. A pet name I chose to call her. This girl just can’t stop having so many nicknames I thought as I chuckled in mind. Dinner was almost ready. I took off my blazer and rolled up my sleeve. My mate saw me as I entered the kitchen. “Welcome home” she said in her sweet soft voice. If any humans were to be here, they wouldn’t be able to hear what she was saying. She always talks so low in volume, sometimes even like she is mumbling to herself. Luckily we lycans have good hearing and I can always hear clearly what she is saying. I smiled back at her before taking my seat at the table. We’re about halfway through dinner and it was awfully quiet. I cleared my throat, drank some water and spoke. “Loulou, since you’re on vacation you should go somewhere. You don’t have to stay home and cook. Just let me know in advance.”  “Okay.” she replied. “So do you have anywhere in mind?” “ Huh? Eh..” she pondered awhile and sheepishly answered, “no.” I felt a little excitement building up in me. “How about this? Since you’re new to this city, I’ll bring you around. Get ready tomorrow morning, we’ll get brunch. I’ll bring you somewhere”. “Okay boss” she answered playfully. I grinned at myself over her agreement. It’s a date.
