Chapter 10

990 Words
Lou Pace at the diner has picked up tremendously. Word has spread across the land that a Lycan Prince was visiting the diner everyday. A lot of hungry females started coming in for food or actually I think it might be for the goods. Everyday we had to deal with some sort of commotion out on the floor. Like a guy having a quarrel with his girlfriend. It seems that the dude was getting jealous over his girl who had come all the way out here to look at some royal hottie. Every now and then I caught the prince looking through the kitchen doors when it swung open. I somewhat thought that he might be looking at me but of course he sure isn’t ! In the line of sight, there’s Jenny who is at the cashier. I’m pretty sure he is looking at her. I’m just getting all day dreamy about if he was to be really staring at me. I sigh at that thought. Nobody would like me, I’m too ugly. It was another busy lunch hour and I had to help with serving out the food as we’re shorthanded. The floor is also packed and it’s hard to walk by. This can be extremely dangerous when I’m carrying a tray full of plates stacked and soup bowls on it. I was just trying to be efficient by putting a 4 tops’s food order onto one tray. I was halfway through a lane, one of the customers was there standing next to a table of ladies. He was busy chit chatting with them with his back facing me. He was in my way and I had no way around with such a full tray of food. I tried my best by saying “excuse me?” But it seems that he didn’t hear me at all. I tried saying it louder but he still didn’t hear me and I started to feel awkward in this situation. Just then he turned towards me and bumped into my tray. I let out a yelp. By instinct, I took a step back quickly, holding onto the tray tighter trying to calm everything down but I realized I had already lost my balance as it was happening too fast. The next thing I know, my back hit something hard and someone from behind had grasped over my two hands and steadied me. Bruce POV: I see my little mate carrying a tray full of food. She has tiny hands compared to her overall. Oh, she does have tiny feet too. I don’t care about the crowd in the diner anymore as it means more orders for her and more times the kitchen doors open. I see her trying to ask a customer to excuse her and it just wasn’t working. Her voice, sounding so soft and sweet compared to the noisy atmosphere in the diner. I stood up wanting to give a piece of my mind to the guy who was blocking my mate’s way. I foresaw this. A disaster waiting to happen to my little mate with such a heavy tray of food. I shook my head in my mind at my silly mate. I took a big step forward as my little mate crashed backwards into my chest. I grabbed the tray over her hands, trying to stabilize it. I could feel a sense of small electricity go through my hand to my heart. Her body has touched mine and her smell is just right at my nose door step. She smells so heavenly even after working in the kitchen all day. ~ “Watch where you’re going or maybe you should just get the hell out of here” Bruce’s voice boomed at the man who had disturbed the order of food at this diner. He stares at the lycan prince with wide eyes and then quickly moves out of the way and then out of the diner. Bruce guesses he’s now too embarrassed to remain here in front of the ladies. Right now, everyone has already stopped what they are doing and all eyes on the couple. The ladies around the room gasping a bit, making sounds of envy that they wish they were the one in the position of Louisseena. Bumping into the prince or having even the slightest body contact would just make their dreams come true. Lou was so tensed up in that position. She didn’t know what to do and just stood there. Her strength can’t fight that of a prince as he continues to hold the tray. “ I’ll take that.” Bruce said as he lifted the whole tray above her head out of her grasp. “Where to?” Lou stood away from him as he took the tray. “Your highness, it’s okay. I can do it.” she gestured her hands out ready to take it back from him but he just stood still there. “Where to” Bruce said again more firmly. “Ehh…” Lou answered. Shoots. It seems that this little incident has shook her a bit and she has forgotten which table she was supposed to send the food to. Luckily Jenny swiftly came up and mouthed her the words, “Lou, it’s table 8”. After the food was served to the table, Lou grabbed the tray, took a bow, thanked the prince and ran back to the kitchen. Her heart was pounding. She didn’t know what happened. It was so embarrassing to be helped by a noble over such small duties that are of a peasant, she thought. She squeals in excitement over the fact that a prince had come to her rescue before calming down. As she calms down, Lou could feel a tiny warm glow inside of her. Raven. Lou could identify that it belongs to Raven. But as soon as she identified it, the feeling disappeared again.
