Chapter 34

Louisseena spent the rest of the night in her room resting. It was late and she was given some snacks and drinks to her room.

Her room was big and spacious. It had an attached bathroom. She guesses it’s normal for a guest bedroom. She had a walk-in closet and she brought her luggage towards it. To her surprise, it was already filled with clothes. Not hers but clothes that are all new, never worn before. She can smell that it’s all new.

She took down a dress from the rack and placed it in front of her. She looks at herself in the tall mirror. It seems that the dress was her size. She looks down on the closet floor and sees a range of different shoes. They don’t seem very big. It seems that they were also in her foot size.

Loulou thought that the palace is a mystical and magical grand place. She thought that WOW, even the palace provided their guests with literally everything. She doesn’t know that Beckett has specially stocked up the closet for her. Loulou took a warm shower, dried her hair and rested in bed. Normally, most people would have jet lag. But not for her. She is an easy sleeper. She started to drift off to sleep after being tired from the mini emotional outburst earlier.

In another part of the palace, Bruce is with his mother having the talk he needed. He told his mother about the things he knows about Louisseena. The way she is quiet and shy, and doesn't know how to react in social situations. The way how she is naive, unaware of how dangerous the world is or how people can be scheming. How she seems aloof but is actually one of the warmest person he knows beside his mother. She will display her warmth in her own ways. How he fell in love with her little actions. The things that she did for him because she wanted to, not because she wanted to hear “thank you”. How she does not even know when to say “thank you” in certain situations.

Bruce carried on to talk about Louisseena’s family. The way he thinks how her mother is unfit to be a mother due to that incident. He suspected that the incident was one where she did harm herself on purpose. “A wound that wouldn’t heal” would only mean that the skin was cut with silver. To be harming yourself when you’re so young would mean one had a traumatic childhood.

Bruce broke down at this point. He was choking with tears when he spoke of his mate hurting herself. He could not fathom out the reason why his mate would do that. He knew this was a safe space with his mother to let it all out without Wayne utterly losing control.

Meredith hugged her son tightly, cooing him. “ I somehow understand now Bruce. It’s gonna be okay. I promise. “ Meredith caresses her son’s back. “ She has you now. You will be her strength when she needs it.”

After Bruce was more or less calm down, his father joined in with them. Bruce proceeded to talk about one thing he noticed about Layton. “When he was angry, his eyes glowed red. It would take a trained eye to tell that it is a different shade of red. I can tell that isn’t the colour of an alpha. If he is Loulou’s brother, he should have the alpha blood in him.” This was indeed puzzling. Louisseena’s uncle had confirmed that she is an alpha daughter. They had no more information to go about this.

“ I think Leonard was indeed a true alpha of the Raydiant Pack passed down by generation. I’ve met his parents before. I’ll send someone to investigate this, my son. We’ll get the truth out.” Richard assured his son. “Thanks dad.”

“Now, your mother told me that you said she lost her wolf? Can you explain in detail all that you know of?” Bruce’s father asked.

“Yes. When I first met her, I could only smell her but didn’t recognize that she was my mate. It wasn’t immediate like what you and mom had. It was Wayne who confirmed to me that she is my mate. You know how much I trust him.” Bruce’s parents listened to him carefully,

“The other signs were all there afterwards. Except she couldn’t tell that I’m hers. I suspected that she lost her wolf somehow because that’s the only reason. That’s when I got Becky to help me out. She confirmed that Loulou lost her wolf due to a mate’s rejection prior”.

Bruce’s parents were buried in thoughts. “ Hmm. Could you explain the rejection? How did it take place?” Bruce handed over the report that Beckett did to his father. “ From what Becky reported, she met her mate once. Afterwards it was a long distance relationship. They never met again.”

This sparked a thought in Richard’s mind. “ Son. It seems possible the bond is not yet fully broken. To fully reject and break the bond from the mate chosen by the goddess, both parties need to see each other face to face physically. This rejection ritual is not well made known as the Goddess herself does not want moon mates to reject each other.”

This clears a lot of things in Bruce’s mind. “ I believe your mate’s wolf is in hiding. The pain that she experienced back then would be because her moon mate went to mark another werewolf. It’s called a false rejection. In normal cases, the left out wolf would not be able to bear the pain and the shifter dies as a result in a few hours. To deal with such tremendous pain and rejection, I think your mate’s wolf is bearing the pain itself so Loulou herself wouldn’t feel it. Her wolf’s disappearance is what keeping her alive right now.”

Meredith gasps at her husband's words. “ We need to save her, Bruce. Her wolf…. is suffering.”

“ I guess it might be the alpha blood in her that makes her wolf react this way, protecting the shifter. “ Richard said as he touched Meredith’s shoulder lovingly, calming her down.

Bruce was in total shock after learning about false rejection and how it takes its toll on the wolf He could not bear it anymore. Wayne pushed forward and Bruce allowed him to take control. Bruce had to let it be done, he shifted.

Wayne let out a loud howl that could be heard throughout the palace.
