Walking closer to the men surrounding the fire, I suddenly heard someone call my name. Turning my head slightly, I spotted Adam seated among the group. He smiled broadly upon spotting me and immediately stood to greet me. Then, he noticed my attire. "Evelyn told us what happened," he explained. "But we didn't realize how grave your situation actually was. Are you alright?" "Yes," I replied weakly, unable to meet his concerned gaze. Adam nodded and then addressed me again.
