Walking closer to the men surrounding the fire, I suddenly heard someone call my name. Turning my head slightly, I spotted Adam seated among the group. He smiled broadly upon spotting me and immediately stood to greet me. Then, he noticed my attire.
"Evelyn told us what happened," he explained. "But we didn't realize how grave your situation actually was. Are you alright?"
"Yes," I replied weakly, unable to meet his concerned gaze.
Adam nodded and then addressed me again. "The others are already waiting for us in the main hall. Will you come along? We won't leave without you."
With that, everyone stood up simultaneously and left the cave. I glanced back nervously. Just as the last man passed, I found a pair of familiar green eyes staring straight back at me.
