After a moment or two we both fell asleep. I had been too tired to continue talking, or maybe even think, so I simply lay with her in silence, listening to the sounds of the trees rustling together. Soon enough the forest grew dark, and as the birds sang their songs to one another happily. The night sky was clear, allowing many of the stars to shine brightly as they shone their rays directly down on the ground below. I lifted my head slightly and noticed that the moon had risen, and the starlight reflected beautifully upon its surface. I had often spent whole days gazing up into the sky, just like now, but it had never occurred to me that I was capable of doing so so completely effortlessly.
