The wielder of magic is the one that determines if the magic is used for white purposes or dark purposes. Most dark witches are dark because they use magic for self-gain. Dark witches can technically be a white witch again. It's not an easy path. However, it can be done. Some dark witches have used magic to curse others and even kill others.
