Aftermath Part 1

Liam POV Tomorrow Seth and I would go see the witch and I would tell her that I was her blood mate and that I wished to claim her as my mate. Then the plan was I would claim her shortly after that. Seth was adamant that I don't wait to claim her. When vampires claim each other as mates no one else can claim either one of from that point on. In a sense, we are married, however, it is much deeper than that. Usually, as we are claiming each other we drink each other's blood at the same time which binds us to one another. The bond that is created can never be broken. Only death can break the bond, so when we do claim our mates we make sure that we want them as our mate since there is no going back nor is there any type of rejection. Sometimes it takes time for the bond to become strong. This isn't that common but can happen, generally, the bond is strong from the onset of drinking each other's blood.  Similar to most supernatural creatures who have mates, through our bond we can sense each other's emotions, we know what each other is thinking, and we also know when one of us is hurt, injured, or in danger. We know everything about each other and there are no secrets. We are unable to hide anything from each other or lie to each other. Hence the importance of us making sure we want each other as mates. Generally, speaking, rarely, we wouldn't want our mate or not love our mate. However, I wouldn't say that we initially can't live without each other. After the bond begins to form then we can’t live without each other, but before that, we can walk away easily. Again this isn’t common. We are hoping that if it is just the two of us it would appear that I was being sincere when I told her that I was her blood mate and that I wished to claim her. Hopefully, this would make it easier for me to claim her as mine. Since Seth was an ancient that would explain his need to be there, since he would eventually perform a bonding ritual, which would be much later. Hopefully, she would be none the wiser. The bonding ritual is an ancient marriage ceremony that was performed in front of the whole coven letting everyone know that we were mates and claimed. Most of the vampires today don’t go through the bonding ritual since most coven’s where destroyed long ago and we are scattered across the global living among humans and there aren’t any covens anymore. If there are they are much smaller and well hidden from the world. Seth on the other hand wanted to make sure that we went through some type of marriage ceremony to ensure the land would pass to me after her death. Later, after I had claimed her the rest would join us. Seth wouldn't perform bonding ritual until after the rest of us had a turn or two with her. Which I didn't agree with and I don't know how I was going to let that happen, but if I valued my life then I would have to let it happen. Seth wasn't about to let me or anyone else get in his way of taking the land or making her pay for the pain that she caused him and the others. Though, I doubted very much that she was the one causing the pain. I don't know why I cared if she was passed around or not. It wasn't like I was claiming her as my mate. I mean I was but not because I wanted her as my mate. I didn't want a witch for my mate. She was just a means to an end and nothing more. At least that's what I keep telling myself. Then why does it feel like so much more? Why do I have such a problem with Seth's plan? I'm conflicted and I don't like it. There was no way we could bond since she wasn’t a vampire and wouldn’t be able to drink my blood during the claiming. I just need to taste her blood to seal her as my mate. She could drink some of my blood I suppose if I cut myself and she took it that way, but I highly doubt though the bond would form. I couldn’t see how the bond could form with a nonvampire. There was just no way. That night when I went to bed all I could do was think about her. I was craving to be inside her. Wanting to feel her lips against mine. To have her n****d body pressed against mine. To feel that prefect mouth on my c**k. Yes, I will admit she does bring out the lust in me, but nothing more than that, or at least that is what I keep telling myself. I would get my fill and then happily pass her on to the next so that they could get their fill. Who am I fooling, there is no way in hell that I will let any man come near her or even touch her. What the f**ck? Why do I care about this witch? I haven't even claimed her or had any of her blood. How is it that she already has a hold over me? As I fell asleep, I was still thinking about her. ****  Danger. Help me before it is too late.  I bolt up in bed. Something is wrong. I must get to her before it's too late. If it is not too late already. I throw on some clothes. I forget about taking normal transportation. Vampires can move with lightning speed when we need to.  In no time I am outside her house. The house is dark, and it appears no one is stirring inside. I search the permitter of the house until I am satisfied that there is no one hiding or trying to get into the house. I thought this would put me at ease, but it doesn't. Something still doesn't feel right. I can't shake this feeling that she is in grave danger and needs help.  As I approach the house again the sense that she is in danger is only getting stronger. The question is who she in danger from and how can I help her. If I remember correctly, she doesn't have any traditional or human alarm systems and I doubt very much the doors are locked. Somehow, I know that whatever security she does have will let me in. So, I walk up to the front down and open it. Nothing. Nothing happens. I proceed to walk in the house and close the front door behind me quietly. I don't want to alert her roommate that I am here. Technically I am breaking and entry into their house. Thankful vampires can see in the dark and in no time, I am standing outside her bedroom door, the sense that is in grave danger is overwhelming now. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is in grave danger. When I first try to enter her room, I feel something try to push me back but I resist it with ease. The second time I try I can enter her bedroom without any problems. I find her lying in her bed. By all appearances, it looks like she is just asleep, and nothing is wrong. However, I can tell by her heart rate and the smell of sheer terror that something is very wrong.  I walk over to the bed not knowing what to do next. I decided I should try and wake her. Maybe she is just having a bad dream and nothing more. Though my instincts are telling me that isn't the case. I move closer to the bed when all of the sudden I find myself flying backward and slamming extremely hard into the wall behind me. I hit the wall with such force I am surprised it didn't wake her roommate. This is the last thought I have before everything goes black.  Gabby POV I didn't hear Mikayla last night. Hopefully, she was able to get some rest and didn't have a nightmare about him, especially since her nightmares were getting much worse. I wonder what Joe had found out. We would know soon enough. After I got the coffee going and breakfast made, I went for my run. Today I decided to do a ten-mile run so I could do a nice steady pace.  When I got back to the house after my run, I expected Mikayla to be up and already drinking coffee. So, I was surprised that she wasn't up yet. I figured that in the last couple of days she hadn't gotten much sleep and was probably sleeping in and getting some much-needed rest, so I didn't think too much about it. So, I made my way to my room so that I could shower and change clothes.  Once I was done showering and changing, I made my way back to the kitchen to get breakfast. I was surprised that Mikayla still hadn’t gotten up. Now I was worried it wasn't like her not to be up by now no matter how tired she was.  I decided that I better go and check on her. Especially with her nightmares getting worse. I knocked lightly on her door. No response. "Mikayla, are awake?" I ask through the closed door. Hmm, no response again. This wasn't a good sign. I was getting more worried by the second. I twisted the doorknob and went inside. I wasn't prepared for what I found.  Joe POV I would be at Mikayla’s in another two hours. Maybe in an hour and a half if I speed. I should have warned her before she hung up, however, I was rushing to make my connecting flight. I needed to tell her what I found out about her dreams. I just hope that I am not too late. A couple of months ago Mikayla had approached me about some recurring dreams that she was having. At the time the dreams didn’t seem dangerous or out of the ordinary, other than they were recurring. I knew that she was only reaching out to me because Gabby was worried and wasn’t buying that they were only dreams. Little did Mikayla or I know just how right Gabby was. Then about a month ago when I asked Mikayla if she was still having the dreams, she mentioned that she was. As she becomes to tell me about the more recent dreams that she was having I was struck by how the dreams were evolving and how she remembered each dream in perfect detail. The dreams were getting more intense, but not necessarily becoming threatening. This struck me as odd. It also sounded familiar like I had come across something similar in my research. I made it to Mikayla’s house in record time. I wasn’t prepared for what I found.   Gabby's POV  When I walked into Mikayla's bedroom she was lying in her bed tangled up in her sheets. There were scratches, bite marks, bruises on her arms, legs, and everywhere else. As I made my way to her bed I notice the vampire on the floor unconscious. He looked like the one from yesterday that could be her blood mate. I don't know how the hell he got in or what he was doing in her bedroom. I would deal with him in a moment. Right now I needed to figure out what was happening to Mikayla.  I decide to wake her up. At first, I gently shake her and call her name. She doesn't respond. I try shaking her a little harder and still nothing. This was serious. She wasn't waking up at all. I panicked for a moment not knowing what to do when I heard a groan come from the vampire. He wasn't conscious yet but he would be soon.  I rush to my room and grab my phone. I needed help. I need to keep Mikayla safe while I figure out what the hell was going on. So, I decided to call my dad. "Hello kiddo." my dad answered. "Hey, dad. Can you, Marc and Steve come over right away?" I asked my dad "Are you alright? What's wrong?" my dad asked immediately  "I'm fine. It's Mikayla. She isn't waking up and on top of that, there is an unconscious vampire in her room. I have no idea how he even got in the house." I told my dad. "We are on our way now. Should be there in about 5 minutes." My dad said and hung up. I knew that it won't take them long to get here since they will shift into their wolf forms and run here.  I go and open the front door so they can enter the house when they arrive and then go back to Mikayla room. Within five minutes I hear my dad and brothers enter the house. Within seconds three very large wolves are in the room. Werewolves are much larger than nature wolves, so when you come across them you know they are werewolves.  They are about as large as the dire wolf once was give or take. Once they see that there is no immediate danger they head to the living room to shift back and get dressed. Within moments they are back. Marc has a chair from the kitchen and Steve has some rope. My brothers proceed to tie the vampire to the chair.  Before my father can ask what is going on Mikayla bolts awake. She proceeds to curl into a ball and presses her back into the headboard. Her eyes dart around the room, but it appears that she doesn’t know where she is or who we are. "Mikayla are you okay?" I ask her. She doesn't respond. Instead, her eyes continue to dart around the room. She reminded me of a caged animal. I reach out to put my arms around her to comfort her and she moves to the other side of the bed to get away from me. What shocks me the most is the sheer terror that I see in her eyes. I couldn't figure out why she would be terrified of me. Then she starts to mumble incoherently. I can't make out anything she is saying. All I know is that she is scared. Then the other vampire from yesterday enters the room looking very pissed off. I believe Mikayla called him Seth. What the hell is going on?
