Chapter 8In my living room, I click the remote for the electric fireplace. I don’t need the heat. In fact, I generally don’t prefer it. Valkyries on the other hand like it hot, needing the heat of battle to fire their blood. I pull a white blanket of faux fur off the black leather couch and spread it over the cool hardwood floor before the fireplace. The Runes I scoop off the table and scatter over the blanket. I haven’t called on the Valkyries since my banishment. Would they even come now?
