Chapter 14“I should have known Loki wouldn’t figure it out on his own.” The voice has a snapping growl to it, the kind that sends shivers up the spine of an ordinary mortal. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the voice before and I’m certain Jason is frozen in terror beside me. His face is pale, eyes starting. As I turn to see who has invaded our little tea party, I notice Thor get to his feet, his hammer in hand. I’m not ready for what I see. A chill colder than Jotunheim’s arctic wind robs the breath from my lungs. Now understand this: gods do not feel fear. We especially do not fear other gods. I mean, we’re all pretty much on the same level, right? Not quite. What stands before me, what has come into our presence this very evening, is the dark jackal god of the Egyptian underworld: Anubis.
