Chapter 4: Man-Eating Beast

After speaking, Lily was the first to run over there.
This was the first time Kenny had encountered someone other than Lily. He looked around, holding a sharpened tree branch, and followed her.
"Ah!"
When they got closer, Lily suddenly screamed.
Kenny also smelled an indescribable stench.Tim was dead!
A nauseating smell emanated from his body.

Lily's face turned pale. She grabbed Kenny's hand tightly. Just then, they heard two swooshing sounds.
It was the low roar emitted from the throat of a wild beast.

Then, Kenny saw a horrifying scene!
A strange looking creature was gnawing on the flesh of Tim's leg!
Its body was about the size of a wolf, but it looked like a hyena. However, its mouth was much larger than a dog's, with long fangs, giving it a fierce appearance.
Just one look, his whole body was covered in goosebumps!
The beast looked back at them, baring its teeth, with a bloodthirsty gleam in its eyes.
"Kenny, they... they eat human flesh!"
Looking at Tim's mutilated lower body, Lily gagged.
"Don't talk!"
Kenny didn't dare to move. The man-eating creatures had food now. So they shouldn't attack again according to animal behavior.
"Slowly retreat."
Kenny signaled Lily to slow down and not let the man-eating creatures perceive them as a threat. It should be fine.
"Will... Will it bite us?" Lily's legs felt heavy as if filled with lead. Although she was retreating, her steps were extremely slow.
The man-eating creature growled lowly, watching them cautiously, its gnashing teeth never stopping.
"Don't look it in the eye, just keep retreating. It'll be fine, trust me." At this crucial moment, Kenny tensed up.
He didn't know what this creature was, but it was definitely a ferocious beast. Its bite had crushed Tim's leg bone. If it took a bite out of him, even if he didn't die immediately, he wouldn't be able to survive on this island!
"Ah!"
Just then, Lily suddenly screamed, as she stepped on nothing and fell to the ground.
The man-eating creature, as if provoked, roared in anger and charged at her.
"Help! Help!" Lily's face turned pale with fear, and she didn't even have the courage to climb up.
"Don't move!" Kenny's heart was about to explode. He quickly took a step forward and raised his wooden stick.
It was their only weapon for self-defense now.
"f**k off!" He shouted loudly at the man-eating creature, knowing that at a time like this, his voice had to be loud.
Sure enough, the man-eating creature stopped in front of Kenny and began to observe him.
"You go first!" Kenny hurriedly told Lily.
They couldn’t both stay here. He had to save Lily, even if he resented her. He couldn't let her die here.
"Then what about you?" Lily got up.
"You run toward the beach with the reefs. I'll be okay even if I get bitten a few times. I won't die!" Kenny laughed self-mockingly. What time was it now? He still had to save her.
If he got bitten by this creature, he would almost certainly die.
"I'll wait for you among the reefs on the beach. You must not die, Kenny!" Lily said from behind before leaving.
Kenny didn't think too much and wielded the stick, confronting the man-eating creature.
"Roar!"
The man-eating creature suddenly jumped up and pounced at Kenny.
What Kenny didn't expect was that this creature could jump so high and came straight at his head.
Kenny was tackled to the ground by the man-eating creature. He forcefully jammed the stick into its mouth, preventing himself from being bitten in the throat.
At such a close distance, he realized how terrifying this creature was. Its long fangs were dripping with a putrid saliva. The fierce gleam in its eyes made his heart freeze!
Moreover, its claw strength was extremely strong, making Kenny feel that his arm was losing strength!

Just then, a strange sound suddenly came from deep within the forest, like a flute. The man-eating creature's ears perked up, causing it to stop its movement. In the next moment, it completely disregarded Kenny and ran away.

She was hiding among the reef formations.
"Where's the man-eating creature? Did you kill it?" Lily was surprised to see Kenny unharmed.
"It ran away. This thing should have been raised by someone!" Kenny's heart was still pounding.
"Raised by someone?" Lily's fearful expression lessened compared to before. "Kenny, you coward. You were scared by a creature raised by a person! What if there were really ferocious beasts? How would you protect me? If something happens to me, how will you explain it to my father?"
She scolded him harshly, which made Kenny's anger rise to the extreme!
He had risked his life to save her, but she didn't how gratitude, and even mocked him?
Thinking of how vicious this woman was, how she had almost suffocated him at home, and how she didn't care about his life or death now.
Is he born to be worthless?
"I risked my life to save you, and you treat me like this?! Don't use Uncle Joe to oppress me, I don't care anymore, I really don't care anymore!" The more he thought about it, the greater his hatred in his heart grew!
"Are you insane, Kenny? Let me tell you, saving me is what you should do. You owe me!" Lily also shouted angrily.
