Chapter 6: Imprint

Looking at that enchanting figure, Kenny was stunned.

Lily was so perfect, flawless from head to toe.

As Kenny vented his anger, looking at her, his whole body trembling.

Hatred and an inexplicable affection intertwined in his heart!

"Frog! Ever since you came to my house, my dad has treated you like his own son!"

"And me? I've been deprived of my father's love because of you. You're a thief! If you want to take revenge on me, you owe my dad an apology!"

Tears kept rolling down from Lily's eyes as she murmured with a frown.

Boom!

Lily's words felt like a heavy hammer directly hitting Kenny's heart.

He suddenly stopped, staring at the girl beneath him, breathing heavily.

Thinking of how Uncle Joe treated him like his own after his father's death, he suddenly felt somewhat guilty towards Uncle Joe.

And even more guilty towards his father's dying wish that a man should act like a man, a real tough man!

With these thoughts in mind, as he looked at Lily, Kenny squatted down, deeply influenced by complex emotions.

These years of growth had already shaped his hatred. But now it was not that he didn't want revenge, but rather doing such a forced thing, betraying his father's teachings, and Uncle Joe's efforts!

He couldn't proceed with this kind of revenge, so Kenny could only vent endlessly: "For all these years, I've endured you! Why don't you ever give me any dignity? You even deducted the living expenses Uncle Joe gave me every time. Do you know how I've lived these years?!"

"You even wanted me dead, why are you so cruel!"

With each shout, Kenny became more and more hysterical!

"I just want you to leave my house!"

Lily shouted matter-of-factly, then silently packed up her clothes, looking at Kenny, her thoughts unclear.

"After I go back, I'll leave," Kenny calmed down. After venting, his body felt empty.

Thinking of the roasted insects just now, he didn't say anything, and swiftly headed towards the woods.

"Frog, what you owe me, you should repay. Why do you throw tantrums at me? If there's another time, I'll make sure you pay! But it depends on how you behave in the future, I'll consider being a little nicer to you!"

Watching Kenny leave, Lily coldly hummed, her gaze complicated.

About ten minutes later, Kenny quickly returned with roasted insects. The unknown creatures in the woods made one's heart chill.

It's really easy to be dead if you're not careful.

To prevent Lily from starving to death, Kenny forcefully gave her three roasted insects.

"I won't eat…" Lily looked at the golden-brown roasted elephant trunk larvae, her stomach churning instinctively.

"Whether you eat or not is up to you, but this is all we have now. If you can't walk because you're too weak, don't get me involved. You've seen it, there are wild beasts in there that eat human flesh!" After venting just now, Kenny no longer cared.

He wouldn't coddle her, nor would he tolerate her defiance.

"Kenny, are you going to abandon me?" There were glimmering tears in her eyes, and unconsciously, Lily had changed how she addressed Kenny.

Kenny could tell that she was genuinely scared this time, afraid that he would leave her behind.

Kenny regretted not losing his temper with her earlier, enduring all these years.

"I will take care of you." Kenny didn't waste any words.

"I'll eat."

Lily picked up one roasted insect with concern, her eyes closed in fear. After hesitating for a long time, she didn't have the courage to put it in her mouth.

"Eat!" For some reason, seeing her like this, Kenny suddenly felt annoyed.

There was no opportunity to be picky in surviving in the wilderness.

If something really happened to Lily, he wouldn't be able to just sit idly by, for the sake of Uncle Joe's face. In the end, it would still be him who suffered!

Uttering a scold, Kenny rudely pried open Lily's mouth and threw the roasted insect directly inside.

"Ah!" Lily screamed, wanting to spit it out.

"You..." She subconsciously wanted to scold, but suddenly felt that it was not right. Lily's gaze went from arrogance to obedience.

"I warn you, if you dare spit it out. Whether you live or die in the future, I won't care about you anymore." His words were decisive.

Lily stared at Kenny blankly, her beautiful eyes filled with tears again. Helplessly, she chewed on it, as though she had used all her strength.

The first bite was resistant.

When she took the second bite, Lily's eyes clearly brightened.

Then she quickly chewed three more times, and one roasted insect went into her stomach.

Then Lily quickly ate the remaining two, saying, "I didn't expect them to taste so good. They're similar to chicken. With this, we won't starve for a while!"

Without the initial difficulty of accepting it, Lily's gaze at Kenny underwent some changes, from fear to a bit of trust.

She didn't expect him to find these edible and tasty insects. That's what Lily thought in her heart.

"Do you think there are a lot of elephant trunk larvae?" Kenny rolled his eyes.

"What should we do then?"

Instantly, a bucket of cold water was poured on her prospects. Eating three roasted insects just barely filled her stomachs, she was still far from being full.

If they ran out of insects in the future, what would they eat? Should they eat tree bark?

"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

Kenny didn't bother to pay attention to her, stood up, and walked towards the rocky area by the seashore.

They could handle the daytime, but Kenny didn't dare to stay on the open beach at night.

If man-eating beasts really came out, living by the rocky shoreline was close enough to immediately escape into the sea, at least they would have a chance to survive.

Just pray that there wouldn't be a high tide at midnight.

As night fell, Kenny curled up in a pit formed by a rocky outcrop, able to shelter from the wind. Lily lay beside him, and they didn't speak the whole time.

"Roar!"

With the sound of the waves, there suddenly came the roar of a wild beast that ate people from the forest.

Kenny looked up and saw that the forest was filled with the shimmering eyes of glowing wild animals.

"Kenny, what should we do?" Lily hugged Kenny tightly, trembling with fear.

"Don't make any noise, I will protect you!"

There was no other way, as long as they didn't pass through the beach.

Continuing to lie in the hollow of the reef, Kenny held Lily in his arms, feeling the incomparable softness and warmth, and now Lily had no resistance at all!
