13 “This is Faerieland?” I ask doubtfully. We’re parked outside an abandoned amusement park. An old gate creaks open and closed in the wind and weeds sprout up around the rusted fence. From my lap, Tot whines softly. “No,” Shauna corrects from her seat on Tina’s shoulder. “This is the entrance to Faerieland.” “I can see that,” I tell her. Tot’s silent, so she’s not lying. “The sign literally says, Welcome to Faerieland,” Mac reads. “This better not be some sick joke…” I start. “Why do I feel like I’m about to get murdered by a carnie?” Tina asks. “I would protect you with my life,” Shauna says. “And it’s not a joke. Faerieland is through that gate.” “Great,” Mac says. “Why do I still feel like this is a set up?” “You’re really taking us to Faerie, right Shauna?” I ask desperately
