Chapter 6

2853 Words

6 The next morning, Fern has already rigged a locator system from an old Twister game spinner. It points in the direction we have to go. It also magically lists the number of miles of how far away we are. “It only goes in a straight line,” Fern apologizes. “I’ve studied spells that are like a magical GPS, but that takes a lot of power and a lot of time, neither of which we have right now.” “It’s great, Fern. Thanks.” Shauna hands me a half-chewed piece of bubble gum and I use it to stick the Twister spinner to the dash of Fern’s Mini Cooper. Fern opts to stay behind with Tina and Kit, monitoring them. Marguerite is long gone to her shift at UWR. But even with Shauna shrinking down to her pixie size, it’s a tight fit. Griff takes up the whole back seat, leaving no room for anyone else.
