EMERGENCY MEETING

The world called BERG is located at the third quadrant of the mortal realm with coordinates of -779.223 Ri, -678.903 Ru.

BERG is vast with a total diameter of 14k kilometer. It is made up of land and water with equal ratio.

It has five continents in which each is ruled by a dominant race.

These five are the Elves that governs the Yelo Sovereignty, the human empire of Chilsy, the demi human nation of Baakal, the human kingdom of Glacier, and the unexplored dark continent which is home to magic beast that rivals that of the four-calamity beast.

The power struggle between the four said nation is balance with the exemption of the dark continent due to it being secluded to the rest of the world because it houses magical beast with threat level with no less than S-tier (the four-calamity beast threat level is considered to be SSS-tier).

In the kingdom of Glacier, all the high-ranking officials have gathered before the queen.

They are to discuss the recent events that involves the sudden presence that appears in the east side of Glacier in which the forest of doom resides.

“My queen, all the Officers have already arrived with the exemption of the Head healer, Vesta! but his assistant, mister Vincent is here in his stead.”

The queen nodded.

Although in her mid-40’s, her majesty still outclasses many of the youth in terms of beauty, this earns her the nickname the “Frozen Beauty”.

Among the crowds, one man stands at the front of the queen and kneeled. After he kneele, he spread both of his hands and shouted~

“Ahh! It is the highest honor to be in your presence my queen! Your beauty is still untouched even by time! and it brings me so much joy that you are in good condition!!”

The man of small stature and an obese physique uttered such words that makes the queen uneasy but she can’t express it due to man’s influence in the kingdom.

The man’s name is Alco Pata O. Del Rosa, he has a viscount status and he is the acting head of the merchant’s alliance that majorly contributes to the prosperity of the kingdom.

There is a rumor that he is courting the queen by secretly sending gifts to her every month since the queen’s husband died a decade ago.

Ignoring his words of praise, the queen started the meeting.

“I thank you all for coming all here despite the sudden notice”

All the people in the queen’s chamber kneel before the queen.

“You may all now rise…

All of you might have the gist of the idea why I called you all here…

This morning a very strong presence was felt in the ease which the forest of doom resides…”

Upon hearing the queen’s words all the officers and noble in the room muttered.

With a loud and manly voice, the man in the right side of the queen shouted.

“Silence!! You are in the presence of her majesty!! Show respect!”

The man’s name is Gilbert Glacier, the Minister of Defense as well as the general of the royal knights that protects the kingdom.

He is also the little brother of the queen herself. He is known as the cold-blooded wolf due to his merciless way of disposing the enemies during his prime, he also possesses the strength comparable to a SS-tier magic beast.

His sword might’ve not as sharp as the old days but it is still unrivaled until today or so the rumor says. His name only is enough to make the Chilsy Empire feared him, deeming him as an opponent not to be underestimated under any circumstances.

Just these few words from him manage to shut down the voices of the everyone in the room.

“Thank you General *smile*…”

Then the queen’s expression became serious.

“I have concluded that the White lion Regulus has been greatly disturb! And I need all your help to counter it and protect our beloved kingdom!...

Having mention the name of the calamity beast is enough to make almost all the nobles and officers to sweat.

Many have several opinions towards the disturbance towards the white lion. Some say it is the dirty work of the empire because the forest of doom where the calamity beast resides is located near the border of the kingdom. Meaning, its location can be easily infiltrated by skilled warrior of the empire.

Some say that it might be because of the power struggle inside the forest because beside the white lion, that place is also home to many S-tier and even SS-tier magic beasts.

Hence, the crowds were in a panic. But then when the queen raises her hand, the noise gradually settles down.

Can I expect your assistance my dear subjects?”

Is the question she raises after the silence were obtain.

Without hesitation, everyone kneels again and simultaneously responded with-

“With pleasure your majesty!!”

Even though some have doubts and fear in their mind given that they are up against a beast of legend that is said to have destroyed countless of countries in the past one thousand years. All their negative thoughts are being suppressed by their love for their country as well as for their queen who made their lives easier.

“Then may I call the Minister of Finance, Lady Veronica Dollor! to come step forward!”

Veronica Dollor.

The second daughter of the prestigious Dollor family who is one of the longest noble family in the Glacier kingdom.

Their family is known for their talent in accountancy which is very rare in Berg as only a select few can afford education, and even within those few, only the ones who have naturally born talents excel when it comes to mathematics.

Thus, the Dollor family is without a doubt a very important pillar of the kingdom that supports the royal family. Not to mention that the current queen is a childhood friend of lady Veronica’s mother. 

Veronica is an exceptional accountant at such a young age, she graduated in the royal academy faster than anyone and not to mention at the top of her class at the age of twelve. Not to mention she is also very pretty. Indeed, she can be the representation of beauty and brain in one package.

She continued to pursue the path of accountancy until she was assigned by the queen herself to be the minister of Finance at the age of sixteen and two years have pass and she lives up to her majesties expectation by handling the kingdoms finances with outmost care and precise.

She has a very deep admiration towards the crown princess but she is keeping it from her for they are best of friends.

“Yes! My queen! *bow*”

“What is the situation of the budget of our kingdom as of now? Will our finances be affected if we deployed the knights at the next few days?”

“Um… I think that it will be fine your majesty. Since we have continued to attain peace up until now, and the Empire still shows no sign of attacking.

Many merchants have been establishing their businesses in the kingdom lately, attracting many tourists as well as adventurers. Their presence has been reassuring for the residence lately because they can chase away the surrounding magic beasts who loves to attacks especially at knights.

With less fear in their minds, they are able to work more efficiently, leading to more precise and quality materials.

  Our kingdom’s condition has been at the top shape this year!”

After hearing her report, the queen looks at lady Veronica with seriousness in her eyes.

Veronica then caught a glimpse of the general trying to say something…

-S-u-m-m-a-r-i-z-e i-t-! …summarize it! …yup of course summarize it HAHA silly me...-

“Ehem! With this I can proudly say that the kingdom has no problem when it comes to finances. Thus, we can provide ration to the knights anytime!

I think the only thing that is a subject of concern is the knights themselves your majesty!”

The queen then turns to the general right beside her.

The general proudly responded with~

“I’ve trained those guys with the best of my abilities and they are hone to be always ready anytime!

Your majesty!”

The queen’s expression suddenly went brightly

“That’s splendid! As expected of my minister of finance and minister of defense! You two puts assurance into my heart!”

The two happily responded with~

“*bow* We are very grateful in your compliments your majesty!”

-Hooyaaah! Her majesty praises me! maybe she will reward me later by giving me permission to have a one-on-one tea with princess Fionna kyaaah!!!!-

“Now that we know that we don’t have a financial problem, I believe it is safe to say to gather the army and march toward the forest of doom to prevent the rampage of the white lion!

…is there anyone who object to this plan?!”

Having said so, the door suddenly open and a shout was heard from the outside.

“W-wait a minute! …Mother!”

Appearing in a marvelous silver armor that matches her snow-white hair and beautiful bluish pupil, the lady that walks towards the queen manages to capture the attention of everyone in the room.

“Fi-Fionna! How many times do I have to tell you that you need to knock before you enter this room! not just unmannerly barge in here! Sigh! You really need to act more like a proper princess now for goodness’ sake!”

“Forget that now mother! I am against your idea of deploying the knights in the forest of doom”

“…And why is that??”

“They will only throw their life away!”

“…???”

“W-well technically speaking, the princess has a point your majesty”

Is what the general said while massaging his beard.

The queen looks at the general that seems to supports the princess.

“Sigh! You really spoil her you know, this is why-“

“Now, now, let’s hear her reason for objecting first”

And then the general whispers

“Don’t mention something about princess in front of everyone your highness…”

The queen was convinced.

“Okay, seeing that you are the only one who opposes my idea, I presume you have a better one than this, no?”

“Yes, I have!”

“Hmmm… Speak then!”

“Then I will not hold back…

As we will celebrate the festival of light a week from now, I am suggesting that we added another event in it!”

“Oho… and what kind of event is it? And what kind of connection will it have in subjugating the white lion???”

The princess grin as she replied~

“Why don’t we add a magic and sword tournament to spice things up in that day! And while we’re at it, why not put up a high reward money to it and the opportunity to subjugate the white lion!”

But one of the officials argued with the princess’ proposal.

“Bu-but princess! How come you added the subjugation of the white lion as a reward? Everybody knows how terrifying it is and fighting it means asking for one’s death!”

But the princess just grins in return, then she replied~

“Strong warriors seek strong opponents, that is an untold truth of the world! …Its not everyday one can have the opportunity fight one of the four calamity beasts of legends, right?

…We will offer them information about the calamity beasts! And in return the… semi-finalist will have the luxury to face it!”

Hearing all that, the queen spoke her opinion.

“Well, it’s true that our intel is the fastest within the kingdom, we can know the exact location of the white lion in just a span of two days at most.

But, my daughter, your claim of the strong seek strong opponents is not a proven fact! What’s proven is that people value their own life more than anything!”

With that, the princess offers another suggestion, and this time, it is something which is very unpredictable.

“Then! Whoever slayed the beasts, I shall offer him myself as a personal reward!”

Hearing that made everyone in the room into an uproar. They can’t believe it! They can’t believe that the princess who always rejects marriage meetings as well as her thousands of suitors from all over the world, is willing to marry the one who can slay the white lion.

This is a very important news that should be spread throughout the kingdom, no! throughout the world!

But, having said all that, slaying one of the four calamity beasts is still a much higher feat than marrying the princess and that is also an undeniable fact that slaps everyone in the room.

“Ehem! Of course, if one were able to do it, I will still challenge him into a one-on-one fight to fulfill my previous condition of whoever wants to dare to marry me!”

Those words are just an assurance, because one might slay the beasts in just pure luck and not by strength and effort. The princess wants to play her safest cards in the game so she added that condition which escalated her demands even more.

Regardless, if the news of the princess will marry anyone to slay the white lion will be more than enough to lit up the fire within all the warriors/adventurers within the kingdom. It’s not everyday you got a chance like this. I mean, imagine marrying the princess even if you don’t hold any noble status, that is a one in a billion chance!

Having said so, the queen asks her daughter.

“Fi-Fionna… are you sure of this?? Marrying anyone who can slay the white lion?”

With a wide smile on her face, Fionna responded.

“Why not mother? I believe the value of a man does not lie on his wealth and status! It lies in his determination and strength to overcome great hurdle! Just like what my father was!”

With that answer, the queen can only smile in return. She really loves her daughter but she does not actually show it on public, that’s why she appears to be in bad terms in a person’s view.

-kyaaah! That’s my daughter for you-

Of course, as leader of the princess fan club, Lady Veronica is also in cloud nine being in the presence of the princess and above all, hearing her voice that suggest such a spectacular idea but the marriage thing slightly bothers her a bit though.

But that doesn’t matter because she almost Fainted having so close to the princess, but she was catch by her assistant.

After the crowd was settled down, the princess spoke again.

“I believe that my presence in the tournament is very important! Therefore, I will participate in it as well!”

-Well, might as well ease entertain myself in that day-

“But, Fionna, will that cause an uproar??”

Is what the queen asks with worries in her face.

But the general responded instead.

“Then, how about we announce her participation at the day of the tournament to avoid an uproar by both the crowds as well as the participants”

“L-let us do that then… is that okay with you Fionna?”

The queen said so.

The princess smiled and responded with~

“That’s fine by me, mother”

Hearing all this declaration, Viscount Del Rosa has come up with a scheme befitting of his appearance.

-Khekhekhe! If I make my son participate and bribe his opponents and face the princess in the finals…

even if he has no chance on winning against this monstrous woman, my name will surely make an impression to the queen and by exploiting that!

I will be able to get close to her until she gave in and agree to marry me! kahkahkah! My son might not be able to walk for life but sacrifices must be made *evil giggle*-

In their teens, Del Rosa has always been in setting his eyes with Queen Victoria Eliz Glacier IV, but being born in a Viscount family, he has no chance in claiming the queen’s hand in marriage. On the other hand, the queen then was already engaged with the duke’s son, Albert Theo G. Mcbelt.

However, this didn’t stop him, he waited for an opportunity as years went by. And 10 years ago, the opportunity has risen with the death of Albert due to a mysterious illness.

But sadly, the queen loves her husband with all her heart and refuses to let go of it. Realizing this, Viscount Alco was eaten by anger and jealousy and come up with multiple evil plans against the queen.

The love in his heart has been turn into hatred as years pass by. For not being able to get what he desired the most his habits worsen, leading to his present physique.

“So, what do you all think?! A pretty profitable idea, isn’t it!? Not only we will gain powerful people but we can also use this as another tourist attraction and present our kingdom more to the world!”

Is what the princess shouted while putting her arms up high.

With everyone seem to agree with the princess suggestion the queen felt relieve, seeing her daughter to be improving in gaining people’s trust.

Princess Fionna Liz Glacier made her name in both sword and magic at the early age of 8, right her father died. Being a double attribute mage possessing a very strong ice magic and wind magic.

She made her debut in eliminating a magic beast stampede in a certain part of the kingdom when she was 13, by making the whole land freeze in a state where all the beast has been frozen solid to their very bone, she earned the nickname “Snow Princess”.

Her swordsmanship also flourishes 2 years after that incident under the supervision of the cold-blooded wolf.

At present, she is known as the most powerful individual in the Glacier kingdom, accomplishing feat that no other has ever done like facing one of the calamity beasts, the Invincible Basilisk, Zegree.

Managing to wound it and live to tell the tale is the most famous out of all of it.

In all of Berg, she is known as the third in rank in terms of feat and fame,

second only to the Elven princess of Yelo and the present King of the Baakal who rumored to have enter the Dark continent and manages to get out of it with all of his limbs intact.

In terms of skill and power, it is still unknown who will be put on top due to them not having to face each other in battle.

-You have grown Fionna! In more ways that one! But!

…sigh! It’s been 2 whole years since you turn sixteen and yet you still hold on to your beliefs on your ideal husband being like that…

Being able to beat you both in magic and swordsmanship… huh???

As if there is a noble capable of doing that… even in terms of adventurers, I doubt there is anyone like that…sigh! The nobles will surely oppose that if it were to happen…

But with this, I believe I can silence them much easier! Well given that someone might be to do it…

Well for now, the matter with the white lion comes first! I hope we can prevent a major disaster!-

The queen slowly looks up and uttered some words silently.

“My dear, please guide our daughter to victory,

I knew that she will participate in subjugating the white lion even if I prevent her from doing so, so please lend her your wisdom and strength”

After that, the queen raises her right-hand, demanding silence again from everyone.

“Now that everyone seems to support the princess’s idea,

then it is not my part to object it! Therefore!

We will hold a magic and sword tournament a week from now as a special event for the festival of light! I am commanding you all to spread it all over our continent as soon as possible!  

Are there anymore objections with this? I’m allowing you to voice out your opinions!”

No one complain.

“No one? …Then I hope our beloved goddess Luminous will bestowed us her blessing for the success of this all!”

Everyone in the room prayed on the goddess to ask her to bestow her blessing upon them and the whole kingdom.

After offering a prayer, the queen then ended the meeting.

“This concludes our meeting for today may you all live up to my expectations! …you are all now dismiss!”

With that, the emergency meeting has been concluded.

The queen, the general, and the princess were the only ones who remain in the queen’s chamber.

“Mother… I have something to tell you…”

“What is it my dear?”

“Khe! Changing the way you call me as soon as everyone leave…sigh!”

“Eeehh!? It’s not like anyone is watching, your uncle is also aware of what I call you, so don’t sweat the small details… *giggle*”

“…Anyway, I have to tell you about what I found out about Vesta! …and my dear brother; Jake is involved…”

The queen’s mood suddenly changes and became a lot more serious than before.

The general also seems to lets out a very serious vibe upon hearing the name of his frail nephew.
