RESCUE

It has been a day since I left Crysty Village…

I paid Rian and Ren a visit before I left and remind Mrs. Blaze about Rian’s condition.

I also told Rian not to use her magic in the guise of it will make her stamina stronger.

The two kids look like they want to come with me and their gaze is somewhat pitiful but cute at the same time so,

I promise both of them that I will teach them some trick with magic for Rian, and maybe swordsmanship with Ren?...

Well, I did promise their parents to take them to my world after this so might as well teach them for safety purposes… and Ren’s wit might catch Aster’s attention

So, I will make him teach Ren his way of the sword

Before I left, I put up a barrier in the village, I can’t be having it be destroyed by some unknown beasts or something so I took an action to prevent it

By the way, the barrier that I set up there is quite sturdy you know… it can take a full impact from a meteor with thrice the size of the village… yeah it is quite strong!

Now then! Back to the present…

I am now in the middle of a road that led to the capital

And in front of me is a small forest sandwiching the road I’m taking

[Sir Fil, it looks like someone’s fighting in that forest]

I’ve notice that also a little while ago but I just ignored it given that it will prolong our journey if I took a detour…

[Young master, I believe it will benefit us if we help them]

“Oho… and why is that?”

[Well, first of all let me remind you…

What is the most important thing that we don’t have right now?]

I think about what MINFI told me for a second… and come up with an answer!

“It’s food! Maybe…?”

[Sigh…!]

[Forgive me for asking lady MINFI… but I also think that we lack ration right now~]

[Sigh…!]

Reg and I look at each other because of MINFI’s response… and would you look at that! he is just bewildered as I am.

Well, I can’t think of anything important that we don’t have right now rather that food…

I give up! And so, I decided to ask MINFI to spill the beans…

[Sigh! What would you do without me young master…?]

“Well, if you are not by my side, I might just destroy worlds without investigating it like what we are doing right now”

[!!!]

Reg became suddenly frightened… I don’t know why but maybe he took my joke for real? HAHA foolish one!

[Stop making such remarks young master, you’re scaring mister Regulus]

“Alright, alright… so what is the thing we a lacking right now?”

[…It catching!]

“Catching!? What’s that? Is that some kind of food?

Hah! It is food! You see!? I’m right!”

And so, I brag about my hunch that my answer is correct but MINFI just glare at me with a look that has no idea what I’m talking about.

[Young master… it’s money… it’s money what I’m referring to! Not food!

In what world is the term “catching!” referred to as food huh!?

Well, we do need some food also cause I quite starving myself]

For a second there, MINFI sounded like a delinquent demanding cash in her victims.

Well, now that she spelled it out loud, I really didn’t notice that!

We don’t have any currency of this world in our hands…

Reg also didn’t notify us about it earlier because he is a magic beast! He doesn’t need it!

…and I don’t pay much attention to it also cause MINFI’s the one who is always handling stuff about that…

[Now, here’s the plan, the young master will go there and help those guys if they are in need of help, got that?]

[Mhm! Well, it seems to me that they need help, I smell some human blood in there]

[M-hm! The young master will go and save them and they might give us something in return like m-o-n-e-y or maybe food because I’m starving also hehe… well either is fine! Now if you wouldn’t mind young master *bow*]

You know sometimes, I think that MINFI’s exploiting me or maybe this is her way of teaching me things… I don’t know! Well…

Anyway, I now engage the battle in the forest and upon arriving, I notice four individuals that is getting gang up by a pack of big wolve-like beasts that have big claws.

From what I can see, there are a total of twenty wolves including the ones they’ve killed already with a total count of… ten!

“*Gulp* egh! Heh~ there’s so many of them!”

“H-how did things turn out like this! Damn it!”

“There’s no time for that now! Just focus on defending!”

“I hate to break it you guys but I’m out of mana and we are cornered!

This is the worst-case scenario!”

“Billy is also injured so he can’t use his sword now”

“I’m sorry guys! I drag you all here but I’m the one who got injured first”

The four of them seem to be plotting for their next move as the beasts is slowly approaching them

Well, I am still watching them and I will only act if they really can’t get out of that situation but MINFI is bugging me

[Come on young master! just save them already! They are just hanging there by a thread!]

I don’t know why but I feel like there is a hidden meaning behind MINFI’s words… but oh well regardless of what she says I will still wait for their last move before I make mine

“Okay guys, it seems that we still have hope! …I have a smoke bomb in my pocket right now”

“What!? Y-you still have some, why didn’t you say so earlier!? *gulp*”

“Well, I kind of forgotten about it since it was separated from the others”

“Stop blabbering Roy! And Billy! Throw that bomb when I say the signal!

I said that I’m out of mana but I still have one mana potion left…!”

“O-okay *gulp*~”

“We will run to road side to gain more space then after that… Tren! Roy! Billy! Protect me and I will drink this mana potion and cast my strongest magic to pulverize them”

“*Gulp* sounds like a plan! Let’s do it Jessica!”

After talking to each other for a minute, they made their move

The heavily injured guy pulls out something like a bomb in his pocket and smoke came out of it, blocking the sight of the beast

They then make a run for it and headed to the road side but the beasts catch up to them quickly

The three guys get in front of the girl and face the beasts while the girl is chanting something…

There was a total of ten wolves left that is chasing them but the two guys manage to kill the two who engages first…

I am not familiar with the so-called “party” within adventurers but I can say their teamwork is not bad… m-hmm! Not bad!

But as they are in a dire situation, the odds are really against them this time… for the girl is in her last wits…

She drank something like a mana potion or something but the spell she’s trying to cast seems to need a lot more mana than her remaining reserve.

[Sir Fil, that girl’s spell will not be completed as she will collapse first]

Is what Reg said.

And so, the Girl did collapse before she finishes up her spell and,

It’s my time to shine! I jump at one of the beasts and smash its head then I kick the other four enough to pierce their body while I punch the other three that crushes their skull.

And the last one that manage to fight back… I punch it in the chest to stop its respiratory system from functioning leading to its death.

The time I took care of them only took ten whole seconds

Hah! There really just big mutts…

Well, that’s the gist of what happen and now I turn my attention to the four I just save,

And as expected they were astonished, khe! Very nostalgic!

-[As expected of sir Fil, you made those petty beasts as if they were just leaves]-

-[Hmph! You should’ve done that earlier young master!]-

-HAHA! I just want to know how far their courage will take them that’s all-

“Are you guys alright?”

I ask them while offering my hand to help them gets up but,

they seem to be warried of me for a moment there, but the guy who is injured in his shoulders came to talk to me.

“Y-yeah we are al-right th-thanks to you s-sir…?”

“Ah! Sorry for the late introduction! *bow* my name is Fil and I am a wonderer

I am heading to the capital as I saw you guys seemed to be in a pinch their so I came to help!”

“I-I see… sorry about that! I-it’s just for a second there I just felt something I can’t really explainand this is the first time I’ve seen killed so many “Purple clawed wolves” and in just seconds it was unbelievable!”

Is what the guy said while he is holding the unconscious girl in his arms.

The other guys seconded that guy’s remark with~

“Y-yeah”

 Well, they must’ve felt my aura back there, good thing I suppressed it to a small radius but for them to felt it…

Hmmm~ I think I still need to work on that

“That must be just your imagination HAHA! I got rid of the beasts, what are they anyway?”

They all look at me with surprise

“Yo-you mean you haven’t seen one of those?”

“Yes, that’s right!”

I answered with a smile

They then again look at each other

“W-well, that’s unusual because those beasts are native to this area… ah! But first things first! I am Tren! This girl I’m holding is Jessica, that guy with the injured shoulder is Billy, and that guy with the spear is Roy,

we are a party of adventurer from Mura Village and we are also heading to the capital but we got ambushed by those “Purple clawed Wolves””

Apparently, according to them, those beasts earlier are called “Purple clawed wolves” they are considered as C-tier magic beast that is known for their big, sharp, and poisonous claws.

“So, you guys are poisoned right?”

“Y-yeah but gladly we have an antidote with us, just like I said earlier, those guys were locally seen here so *gulp* we’ve brought some antidote with us *gulp* … they are not a threat to us if they are alone…

You see we are C-class Adventurer, but when those guys are in a pack their tier leveled up by one and they turn into a B-tier magic beasts which is pretty much beyond what we can handle”

“I see… good thing I manage to take them by surprise HAHA~”

This is me trying to play dumb for them to not be suspicious of me

“Ah yes! Maybe because they were too focus on us hahaha argh! Te te te~”

Is what the injured guy replied while the other guy, Roy patches his shoulder.

This guy Billy can still laugh even though his shoulder has been pierced… he must be used to this kind of situation…

Is what I thought so.

“*Ehem* thank you again for saving us sir Fil, and I see that you are heading to the capital as well?

Why not come with us! As we are pursuing the same path!”

Is what he said, well… why not right? It is more fun when you have something to talk to while walking and I am somewhat interested with this ranking system they are talking about so I gladly accept.

After a while, Tren asks me something

“Um… sir Fil, if you wouldn’t mind… are those things on your shoulder your familiars?”

Ah he was curious about these two; Reg and MINFI and mistook the as my familiars? HAHA

Well with regards to MINFI, she is technically my familiar… my A.I. familiar to be exact! But I will put the explanation for that later on

“Ah these two, hmm y-yeah you could say that”

“I knew it, this is the first time I’ve seen pure white and crimson red familiars! But they don’t seem to be for combat are you keeping them as pets perhaps?”

He concluded…

-HAHA! I can say yes right guys?-

-[…I am fine with it sir Fil but it still kind of hurt my pride as I am one of the four calamity beasts and to be labeled as a “pet” is… but never mind that!]-

-What about you MINFI? …MINFI?-

[Hey you ugly!]

“Haha! Huh? Ugly? Who said that?”

“!!!”

That was the first time I got startled upon coming to this world

-What are you doing MINFI!?-

-[Well, I am not a pet! young master, I am your most trusted secretary!]-

-I know that, I’m asking why are you making a fuss about it! you know that your one of a kind and they might got suspicious about us!-

I sincerely warn MINFI about the consequences of her actions… our cover might get blown

But unexpectedly! Tren were not suspicious of us, instead he was astonished

“A talking magic beast! Hey guys come check this out! Sir Fil’s familiar can talk!”

The other two replied a “what!? Really?”

And with that they are flocking towards me and bombarding me with questions like “where did I find them?” and “how did I tame them?”

Well, my answer to both is “I just got lucky”

“I’ve been thinking, is talking beast really that rare? And what about this ranking I’ve been hearing you saying for a little while now”

They look at me again with doubt in their faces and saying that;

“Forgive us sir Fil but… a-are you really from around here? Ah! Forgive my rudeness but, all the people in this continent knows about the ranking system and yet you don’t know it… makes me think you are not from here…”

 Is what Tren said while having a nervous look.

“W-well I’ve been secluded from the world for a long time and I just got out a little while ago so I don’t know much about those kinds of things hehe…”

I calmly replied…

Well, I’m use to this kind of excuses as I said before I visited a hundred worlds already so I basically have tons of experience in this kind of situation, plus! I got MINFI here with me

-[I got your back young master, if they didn’t buy it I will just wipe out their memories]-

-[w-wait! You can do that Lady MINFI?]-

Reg was very surprise.

“I see… well it’s good that you got out hehe… the world is a fun place!

*ehem* anyway, about the ranking system… you see magic beasts is divided into 9 ranks! these are the:

Ø  F-tier

Ø  E-tier

Ø  D-tier

Ø  C-tier

Ø  B-tier

Ø  A-tier

Ø  S-tier

Ø  SS-tier

Ø  SSS-tier

According to them, F-tier are considered domestic animals or completely harmless…

They can become your pets or more likely they are really considered pets just like how they mistook both Reg and MINFI as one.

E-tier are still considered harmless to an extent but some of them hold venom in their claws or fangs so they are a tier above

D-tier are magic beast capable of injuring a grown-up man and can only be dealt with if you have a sword or a dagger

C-tier are like those Purple Clawed Wolves that we encountered earlier, only an adventurer can deal with them well to be exact, a full party of F-rank adventurer, or 2 to 3 D-rank adventurer or one C-rank adventurer

But as they said earlier if those guys form a team/pack they become B-tier which is too much for C-rank Adventurers as they lack the skill and power to fight them

B-tier are considered a monster that can only be dealt with a full group of B-rank adventurers or a pair of A-rank adventurer

A-tier are considered a serious threat as only S-rank adventurers can deal with them and a handful of A-rank Adventurers

S-tier are considered a disaster for they can destroy a village in a single night and only SS-rank adventurer can safely deal with them, however,

people with this rank are very rare for this is an almost impossible feat to achieve.

“An example of it is the general and minister of defense of them kingdom, Sire Gilbert Glacier as he once become an adventurer and reach this rank which is why he is idolized by many adventurers and he is the only SS-rank in the whole kingdom”

I heard from Laurence that the princess is super strooong but surely, he jests about that… so I also ask about her rank

They said that the princess is currently pursuing the road to SS-rank for she is a full pledge S-rank now which is also rare

…The last one is the most dangerous of all as they are also remark as a calamity, yup a calamity!

It does ring a bell for I’ve heard that word quite a few times from my friend Reg here and,

That’s right! The SSS-tier which is labeled as calamity fits the names of the four calamity beasts and they are unmatched! The instructions when you happen to found yourself in front of them is to “give up and accept death”

Heh! Surely that’s not what it looks like to me as I have seen so many more beings that is far more bizarre than Reg here, and of course I trampled all of them except a few that I considered cute and fluffy…

But oh well! That’s it for the ranking system… by the way “tier” is the term uses when you are referring to a magic beast and “rank” is the term use when it is an adventurer you are talking about

Simple! right?

After they explain to me that ranking system, their female companion finally woke up

“Hello, my name is Jessica and I am the attack mage of this party a-and thank you for saving us e-earlier *sob*”

She began to cry… maybe she is blaming herself not being able to cast that last spell and almost indirectly killing her comrades

But nevertheless, her friends console her and push that she isn’t at fault at all… well it’s not really her fault considering they are all beat up and exhausted

I waited for them to calm down and I think their friendship is solid and firm… that’s nice!

After a few hours we began to move and as we pursue the road to the capital, we exchange words with each other

MINFI went to the girls’ arms as she is more comfortable with her and this is her way of consoling her so I allowed it

Reg stick with me by the way…

“Sir Fil, what is your purpose in the capital? Are you also going there to participate in the tournament!?

Tren asks with joyful sparks in his face

Hmmm… well I am not aware of this tournament he mentioned~

Might as well ask him for information

“N-no, this is the first time I’ve heard of it, what kind of tournament is it?”

“Hmmm so the word hasn’t reach you yet huh…? Well, you see, every year here in Glacier, we held a festival called the “Festival of Light” to honor the day that the goddess Luminous-sama liberated the world from the darkness”

I see Luminous huh? Well, she doesn’t pick my interest so I will not ask on her any further.

“I-I see… are you guys going at the capital to participate in that festival?”

“Well, that was the plan… you see, we just got a news yesterday that this year together with the festival, they will hold a sword and magic tournament at the capital and the royal family will host it”

“Then, the main reason of all of you going there is that tournament? So, are you guys still participating??”

After hearing that, Tren responded with a slight sadness in his face.

“Nah…! we got injured on our way there, and the tournament is will commence 6 days from now… we will not get recovered by then so we will just watch it, right guys?”

His party replied with a “Yes” that sounded cheerful despite them being not able to participate.

“My dream you see is to grow stronger, and in order to achieve it! I need stronger opponents and that tournament is an opportunity for me but!

*Grip*

*Inhales*

*Exhales*

Well… why don’t you try it sir Fil! Witnessing the way you defeat the beasts earlier; I deemed you really are stronger than you look!”

Ah yes! These kinds of guy always existed no matter where world you go, the ones who pursue strength! But this guy knows his limits… for a guy with that ambition this is very rare!

Now back to what he is suggesting let’s see…

Hmmm… he’s not wrong about that and I am curious about this tournament he speaks off, so very well then! I will take part of it!

And not to mention the royal family is hosting it

This is an opportunity to see them and check if they have the key, I’m looking for.

“It is as you say Tren! I am still not aware of my level of strength right now so yes! If you would like to assist me on how to participate in it, I will gladly join!”

“Really?! then allow me to assist you sir Fil! The registration of the participants is until the last minute of the tournament and our journey to get there is three days so we still have lots of time to spare!”

*Hand sign*

Oh! This reminds me of earlier with Laurence, the whispering part of the conversation

“Can you mention that you are a part of our party if you happen to win, by the way our party’s name is “Tetra Strike” it means four attacks… pretty cool right? I’ve come up with that name myself!”

 Is what he whispered, …actually I don’t mind since he gave me a reliable information so I accepted his request but their party’s name is pretty lame to me, it sound like some box of juice or something, but I will not tell that to him because he seems to be proud of it, he might suffer a phycological damage aside from his physical ones.

And so, our journey together lasted for three days. The road that we are taking is a direct one to the capital so, we will not pass through another town of village like Crysty village.

They inform me of the things we pass such as what they are called and trivia about them and I enjoyed it! Really… they are a cheerful bunch.

No beasts have approach us since then as I am with them but only MINFI and Reg is aware of it.
