FIL VS FIONNA

The first two matches are quite decent for the normal audience, but they were pretty much boring for sire Gilbert and the queen. The participants skills are only A-rank and they are both quite inexperienced in fighting a person so the fight looks like a brawl in the street so, they all pretty much spend the time limit of ten minutes. The same goes for the second match, the only difference is just that the fight is between two girls.

And now, it is time for the third round where Fil is facing Bryan Bear, a tall muscular man with a shave head and scars all over his body. Both the queen, and sire Gilbert as well as the princess are looking forward to the outcome of the match. But, the first thing they notice after Fil climb the ring is the clothes his wearing.

Out of curiosity, the queen asks sire Gilbert if he have seen those kinds of clothes before.

But sire Gilbert only answered with,

“I’m afraid no, your majesty. Those clothes are very new to my eyes, even though I’ve been to all the continents before. I can say that his clothes have a slim similarity to the elves clothing but the color is very different, the elves are not fond of dark colors especially the color black which is what he is wearing now”

“I see… I figure we can deduce his origins through those strange clothes his wearing but it can’t be help. We will just ask him directly if he manage to survive up to the semi-finals”

“It is as you say, your majesty…”

Back at the ring, Bryan seems to be mocking Fil in more ways than one such us:

“Fuhahahahaha! What’s this?? My opponent seems to be some little ant that lost its way back to its colony”

Well, given the height of Bryan which is almost four meters and comparing it to Fil that has the height of 180 centimeters. He really is quite small compared to him. But Fil responded upon Bryan’s dissing with,

“Oh yeah?? Well to me, you are just some big apes that is looking for fruits in the wild hehe uh-uh-ah-ah!!”

“Tch! I don’t like your tongue little boy!”

“Well, the feelings mutual”

With that, the gong has been struck and their battle commence. Bryan is wielding two big axes in his back while Fil has no weapon at all.

Bryan then pulled out both of his axe which shows that he wants to end the match as soon as it began. However, he is not the only one who thinks of that, the only difference is that Fil wants him to swing his axes for a few moments. Therefore, after engaging, every swing from Bryan has been dodge by Fil, making him very irritated.

*Baambambam!*

*Smacksmacksmaaack*

*Blarghblarghblarggh!*

“Y-you wiggly worm!!!! Stand still, so I can cut you in half!”

“I think it would be unfair if I do that… and besides, the match will be over if that happens”

“Exactly!!! So, stand stilllll!”

*Baambabambaam!!*

The princess who is watching at the back is quite bored now and she’s planning to leave, but at the moment she turns around, Fil stops moving, while Bryan’s axes is in the middle of its momentum.

The next scene was not seen by the normal audience and the one who manage to saw it cannot believe what they’ve seen. The princess also stops from leaving and turns around.

There, she saw the two axes that is made of adamantine, has been broken to pieces by a simple tap from Fil. After that, Fil just counter Bryan by flicking his forehead which is enough to knock him out.

All of those happen in mere seconds and the crowd took a few more seconds before they can react with a loud~

*Whooooaaahhhhh!!!!*

“What just happen?? I thought Bryan was going to win!! Man, I bet on him my entire quest money!!”

“Whoa! did you see that? His axes broke and I heard those axes are made up of adamantine which means that person with the weird clothes is super strong!!!”

The princess was also stunned but only for a second.

-Those swings are very precise and strong…  dodging it in that position will be very difficult even for me, and yet, not only did he dodge it, he also shatters it and land a counter on him during those instant!!-

“Very interesting… *grin* His name is…?! Fil! Hahahaha! I can’t wait to face you!”

Meanwhile at the VIP seat.

“General, did you see what happen?? I didn’t manage to caught even a glimpse of it”

The queen asks sire Gilbert with disappointment in her face.

“HAHA! Don’t be sad your highness, even with my eyes, I only manage to see 70% of it”

“Oho… you are getting older, brother of mine”

“Maybe so… HAHA! Anyway, what we just witness was truly remarkable!! Who is that young man?? Not only he was able to shatter those adamantine axes but also manage to counter his opponents in that instant!

Even at my prime, I cannot claim that I can do that and yet, he did it effortlessly!! Truly remarkable!!”

“Oho… so, who’s stronger?? Him or the tomboyish daughter of mine??”

“Hmmm… let’s see… in terms of raw power and speed, I can say that that man has the advantage but the princess has so many tricks up her sleeves and her magic is very difficult to handle in a one-on-one battle… so if they were to fight each other… I can say that the princess will still have the upper hand.”

Hearing all that made the queen remembers how her daughter strives to get stronger.

A decade ago, when her husband, sire Albert passes away. The queen saw her daughter cry for the last time. After that, she nearly sees her at the castle. Rather than learning the proper lady etiquette, Fionna chooses to learn the way of the sword and expand her mana pool even more. Fionna was born with talent for she is a double attribute mage, but at first, she didn’t pay much attention to it because for her, she doesn’t need to get stronger because her father will always be there to protect her.

But the unexpected happened, sire Albert was struck with a mysterious illness that no doctor can cure and soon loss his life. That day becomes the day that Fionna swore to take his father’s side in protecting his mother and brother.

In the process, Fionna manage to come up with many different spells and manage to form her own swordsmanship and she continue to pursue strength until she became the most powerful individual in all of Glacier. And up until now, no men have been able to best her in battle, which makes her swore and announce to her mother that the only man that she will marry will be the man who can put her in the state of absolute defeat. That’s why even though two years have passed since she comes of age to be engage to someone, she’s still single up until now.

“You know, I am looking forward to the day that my daughter taste defeat in the hands of a man”

“HAHAHA! Well, if that’s what you want, then why didn’t you make her battle the king of Baakal??”

“The thought has come to my mind but it would be too obvious to Fionna if I insist her to fight that king and besides, I don’t want Fionna to be some concubine so I halted that thought”

“Well, your majesty, if we’re lucky we might saw that for today because what I’ve said is only base on my perspective… who knows if that young man over there has also some tricks in his sleeve”

The queen looks at Fil from her seat and replied to sire gilbert with “Maybe so…”

And with that, they both laugh.

As for Fil. He is now in the middle of having a conversation with MINFI.

-MINFI how is it going??-

-[Ah yes, young master I have finish analyzing the queen and I found nothing from her. I am now starting to analyze the prin…ce?? Wait! Is that Jake??!!]-

Confuse on what MINFI just said, Fil let out a sigh and ask.

-sigh! Jake what now??-

-[Ah !... I’m sorry young master, it’s just that… remember the kid I exploi- I mean I met at the market??]-

-Ah yes, why don’t just say you exploited him instead, because that what really happens back then!-

-[ Ah yes never mind that… you see it turns out his the prince!! Do you know what that means??]-

-It means that you just did something very rude to a royalty-

-[Not that! If he told me back then that his royalty then I should’ve eaten more treats back in that day!!]-

-Enough with that! Just analyze him already oh and by the way, did you see my match??-

-[Sigh! Yes, I did but don’t over do it young master, lord supremacy might scold you again if something happens again]-

-…Alright, alright I’ll try-

With that, their conversation was over, and Fil is walking towards the participants area. And then, one of the participants that is wearing a decent armor and has a long sword seated two blocks away from Fil.

“You got some pretty decent trick back there huh?”

He asks.

Fil looks at him and replied with a smile.

“Kke! Too bad those tricks won’t work on me if we happen to face each other, so I advise you to not get it on your head”

Hearing his words of warning made Fil realize that the man beside him is afraid of him and is trying to dig up some information on him.

“Well, I will take that into mind”

They both look at each other for a few seconds until the man decided to leave.

-Tch! His quite a tough nut to c***k, I was expecting him to explain what he just did but I failed…

Oh well, we will not face each other anyway because his next opponent in the semi-finals is the princess herself! Hahaha! I’ll see what your made of weird clothes’ Fil-

After sometime, Fil gains the nickname “Weird clothes’ Fil” which he seems not be aware of.

Back at the audience, Tren and the others is sharing their thoughts on what just happens.

“Did any of you guys see what happen back there?”

With curiosity in his eyes, Tren ask the gang.

But they all answered him with a big “No, we didn’t”

“Yeah, I figures; out of all of us, I am the closest to becoming a B-rank so how come that you can see what I can’t see”

Hearing that made Jessica, Billy and Roy pissed.

“What did you just say Tren you bastard!!”

Roy pulled out his spear and point it at Tren but Jessica halted him.

“Now, now, calm down Roy and put away your spear for a moment, I know Tren-chan is just joking”

“Hahaha, Jessica’s right Troy and besides, remember even back then when sir Fil saves us from the Purple clawed Wolves, his movements was also very hard to follow with the naked eyes”

“Now that you’ve mention it, the time he finishes those wolves is very fast indeed but the speed he just demonstrated at this match was even more! Hahaha, I’ve made up my mind! After this tournament, whether he win or lose I will invite sir Fil into our party!”

“Y-yeah, you do that! But his next opponent is the princess… no matter how fast he is, the princess is very strong and not to mention she is wearing the black tortoise right now… not even a calamity beasts can pierce through that armor”

“You’re right… but let us just cheer on sir Fil and wish him luck!!”

They all responded with a “Yeah!”. During their conversation, MINFI is pretending to be asleep but she is actually in the middle of analyzing the prince and she is having a hard time in it.

The matches continues and it is now time for the fight of the princess. The moment she steps up on the ring, the audience went wild and cheered on her with all their might.

“Kyaaa!!!!! Princess goodluck!!! We love you!!!”

“Princess, you’re as beautiful as always!!!!”

And at the VIP seats, lady Veronica who seats next to the prince pulled out a big banner visible from anywhere of the arena and within it, the words “PRINCESS FIONNA IS THE BEST!!” are written.

All the other officials were very surprise towards lady Veronica’s behavior except for sire Gilbert and the queen. They both know that the minister of finance is the number one admirer of the princess.

The princess saw it and she was embarrassed but since she is wearing a helmet, she manages to hide it in front of everyone.

Her opponent is also a girl name Cecil Brook and she seems to wields a whip of some sort.

“It is my greatest honor to face you your highness *bow*”

After washing away her embarrassment by shaking her head, the princess replied,

“Mmm! That is good! Seems like you are not like the others who chooses to forfeit instead of fighting me”

“As I said earlier, it is my greatest honor so why would I forfeit your highness?”

“I applaud your guts! Now let us begin!” 

Cecil made the first move by waving her whip. A gust of sharp winds was produced upon doing it.

*Swooshswooosh!!!*

“Oho… I see that you are a wind mage and these sharp blades of wind is strong”

“I am honored that your highness recognizes my skills!”

*Hyaahiyaaahhh!!*

*Shooopppblarrgh!!*

*Packpackpack!*

Cecil continuer to barrage the princess with her ⸢Whip of Wind⸥, making her unable to attack.

-I see… she is not letting me land an attack… she seems to be exploiting the use of the time limit and she aims to win by using it!! *smirk* not bad… However-

“Your mana won’t last if you continue this you know?”

But Cecil just grins and continues her attacks.

-I can last for eleven minutes in doing this and I’m just using ⸢Whip of Wind⸥ which cost not much mana… so I will use this to my advantage! And finally… I will be the one to end the princess’s undefeated record!-

But during that time, the princess is in silent, not because she can’t land an attack but because she finally realizes that Cecil’s attacks does not deal any damage. The attack has force but lacks the punch upon landing on her armor and this pissed her off.

Therefore, she then engages her which makes Cecil panic and halt her attack because in her mind, the thought of defending takes priority.

But it was all too late. Using the handle of her sword, Fionna struck Cecil’s stomach, making her hard to breath and slowly fainted.

“Agh! …I thought I’d win using this tactic but it seems I was mista…ken…”

“You have my praise in fighting me with the best strategy you could come up with… it was fun *smile*”

Before completely fainting, hearing those words made Cecil very happy and they made her smile.

Back at the participants area, Fil was watching the princess’s fight and he made some insight using it.

-Hmmm… it seems that despite being full of herself, the princess is quite careful in engaging a battle, she could’ve charge on those blades of wind but she didn’t. Instead, she took it and measures it strength before she made her move-

*Grin*

“Very nice! This is why I am quite fond of strong women HAHA!!”

After that, the remaining matches continues. The guy who confronted Fil that is wielding a long sword also wins, and it seems that his attribute is fire and deals a lot of damage when he merges his fire with his long sword. Other that, all the other matches are not worth mentioning.

With regards to the son of Viscount Del Rosa, his match didn’t even manage to make the queen look at it. Only the viscount was watching it in the VIP seats. The reason? Of course, they knew that he bribes his son’s opponent to gain his victory. This is a very typical scheme of him, which is very unpleasant to the eyes of both the queen and sire Gilbert who see no dignity in those kinds of despicable act.

After an hour and half, all the matches have been concluded. The remaining eight participant that will proceed to the semi-finals are compose of six men and two women. For the first match, the battle is between the A-rank adventurer Tristan and the S-rank adventure Layla.

Just like the previous matches, the rules have not change and there still a ten-minute time limit and according to Victor, it will only be removed in the grand finals.

As expected, the battle is too one-sided. The strength of the S-rank Layla completely dominates

the A-rank Tristan. The match ended after three minutes longer due to Tristan’s perseverance to not give up and fight until he faints. The queen admires his determination and spirit and she promises that he will receive the outmost care of the healers.

With that, Layla is the first to move into the finals.

After she leaves the ring, the crowd suddenly went silent. It almost feels like the tension earlier has been lifted and it feels like that the arena has been deserted. The silence continues until Victor called the name of the two individuals that will fight in the second match.

-Egh! Everyone is in silent, and I am too, seeing the princess fight can send shivers to my spine…

And his opponent is also a remarkable one, I didn’t even see what he did in his previous match!!

The princess will surely have a hard time on him so I better prepared myself!-

“Everyone! I know the meaning of your silence!! We are waiting for this moment! In this match, the princess might show her full potential! So, show me your excitement!!”

Igniting their excitement made the audience to let out a cheer that is much louder than before. Almost all of them are cheering for the princess and only a few is cheering for Fil, among them are Tren and his party. The rest are those who seem to look at Fil to be the dark horse of the tournament and betted all their money on him.

Without Further ado, Victor introduces both sides.

“In my right! She is considered the most powerful individual in all Glacier kingdom! The undefeated “Snow Princess”!!! PRINCESS FIONNA LIZ GLACIER!!!

…And on my left! He manages to get the attention of almost everyone here with his weird clothing! I present you “Weird clothes’s Fil”!!”

Hearing that made Fil finally realizes the nickname he gains and he is not happy about it.

-Really now?? What kind of nickname is that??!! It could’ve been “axe breaker” or something like “the mysterious in black” …those were a million time cooler than “weird clothe’s Fil”, come on!!!

Oh well, I’m in a good mood because I will fight the princess this early, so I will let it slide for now-

Both of them are just a few steps away from each other. Before the gong was heard, Fionna asks something to Fil.

“Are you sure you want to face me barehanded??”

Fil was surprise that the princess seems to be determining if she will go easy on him or not depending on his answer.

“Well… you see princess, every weapon I hold just easily breaks that’s why I give up on them for now”

Hearing that, the princess let out a sigh and close her eyes.

-It seems that I am the one being underestimated-

Given the opportunity, Fil also asks something.

“Princess, why are you wearing a full body armor?? I was hoping to see your face and confirm if you are really pretty as they say”

Hearing that made Victor feel offended for the princess and raise his voice.

“Hey you!! That’s quite rude, apologize to her highness now!!”

But Fil ignores his words and focuses on the princess’s reply.

“Stop it Victor. Hmmm… by seeing your previous match, I will let it slide for now.

And the answer to your question is “Even a lion uses all of its strength to hunt a rabbit””

And the match started.

Both of them are moving at supersonic speed leaving only sound on their every step.

The princess is not unsheathing her sword and fighting Fil barehanded.

“Not bad Fil… Fu…. I see now why you are confident to fight barehanded”

The majority of the audience can’t catch up to their movements and can only see the cracks they leave into the ring.

After a few more exchanges, the cracks seem to be getting larger and the ring is in verge of collapsing.

With that, the queen halted the match for a moment and ask her earth magician knights to fix the ring immediately.

Sire Gilbert also commanded to strengthen the barrier secretly by tenfold because he feared that the real match will begin after the repairs.

It only took the knights five minutes to do the repairs and the match continues.

With sparks in her eyes, the queen told sire Gilbert.

“General, it seems that what you’ve said is true, that boy might give my Fionna an eye opener”

“Fuhahahah! Maybe so your majesty, but remember! Princess Fionna is quite stubborn”

With that, they continue to watch the match.

After the gong strikes, the princess takes a hold of her sword and spoke.

“Hahahaha! It’s been a long time since I unsheathe this sword “Black Meteor*”

“Is that so…?”

“You see, my magic power is special and ordinary swords can’t bare it. But black meteor is special, it can withstand it! Just…like…this!”

Upon unsheathing, she then swings her sword forward and a series of icicles rise from the ground and struck Fil.

However, Fil dodges them easily.

“I see… haha! With a simple swing, you almost froze half of the ring”

“Indeed… the fact is I was planning to use it on the grand finals but I’ve deemed you worthy enough to fight with my sword!”

“Hahaha well isn’t that an honor”

 -Those ice seems to be just normal ice and not the superior ice magic that I’ve from Laurence… which means that she’s still holding back and testing me if I can still keep up-

“HAHAHA! You know princess! I’m quite fond of strong women!”

*Swooshswwoooshhh!*

*Baabababaaambaam!*

“So?? What are you implying??”

“So, how about you come with me, if I manage to beat you?? *smirk*”

Hearing that completely surprises the princess for that is the first time a man dares to hit on her in the middle of a battle.

“Hmph! Interesting!! I will think about it if you manage to escape from this!!!”

The princess stops from attacking and pierce her sword on the ground. Then the atmosphere in the whole arena changes and slowly becomes colder.

“Hey, isn’t it a bit colder now??”

“You’re right… grrrrrr!”

“I-I-It’s the princess!! I heard that her magic can affect the environment just like what she did a few years ago when she completely freezes the rampaging magic beasts!!”

The changes in temperature are now felt by everyone and Fil is thinking of something.

-This means that she is finally getting serious, her magic release is skyrocketing… but this mana has some similarity to the foreign mana that is tampering the natural mana and causing the early winter…

This proves my guess that the royal family is involve in that… but for now, let’s have some fun in this-

“This is nice princess; I am getting more and more interested in you”

“Tsk! Let’s see if you can keep that up after this!!

Superior Ice magic! ⸢Ice Field⸥…”

The whole arena suddenly became overwhelm by a burst of the princess magic resulting in freezing the entire inner arena. But thankfully, the barrier withstands it and kept the safety of the audience.

Victor escape to the participant’s area by a hair.

The entire arena is covered in a thick fog due to the ice. It took a minute for it vanish.

In front of the princess, a big chunk of ice appears. She then inspects it carefully and looks for Fil’s body but he is nowhere to be found.

But then at the top of it, a voice was heard.

“Are you looking for me princess??!”

This makes the princess very surprises.

*Grin*

-Impossible!! …but still, this is good!! I can go all out now!!-

“I thought that you’re just all sweet talk but it seems I was wrong!

Even my uncle can’t come out unscathed after I casted my ⸢Ice Field⸥ and yet here you are!”

-So, this is the superior ice magic. It seems that this magic can easily affect the environment and Laurence was not wrong in saying that the princess is the strongest wielder of it-

*Grin*

At the VIP seats. Seeing how Fil manage to avoid the princess’s ⸢Ice Field⸥ made the queen to stand up, making all the other officials startled.

“Wha-what’s wrong mother??”

Jake immediately asks.

The queen smiles while patting Jake’s head and replied,

“It’s nothing my dear, it’s just that we might see something very amazing today, right general??”

Sire Gilbert supported the queen’s claim and continue to watch the match.

Fil jumps down and land in front of the princess.

“Well then, why don’t I show you some of my tricks as well??”

By making a stance and pointing her sword on Fil, the princess replied.

“Oho… just don’t disappoint me, okay?? *smirk*”
