A FATEFUL ENCOUNTER...?

The white king started to absorb Reg’s power at the same time Fil went to sleep.

In the morning, just like they plan, Fil and Tren went to the arena to register for the tournament.

Roy and Billy are still asleep, while Jessica went out to take care of some private business. This opportunity gives MINFI the chance to transform into her human form. The form she chooses is the form of a 15 years old girl.

She was obviously pretty with her brown hair and petite appearance.

[Perfect! …now, time to take the market!

Foreign treats here I come! I will taste you all!]

Is what she wanted to say but she doesn’t even have any money, however this hindrance didn’t stop MINFI from her goal.

She first went to her first target, the shop that sells fruits covered with sweet brown syrup and colorful sprinkles.

“Oh! Would you like some, pretty girl? *smile*”

Hearing the vendor, MINFI tried to act cute.

“Really mister?! B-but can… you give me one for free? You see… I don’t have my money on me right now… hehe…”

“I-is that so…? Then… scram! I don’t offer free taste!

Goodness! Even though business is blooming this time around because of the upcoming tournament… it doesn’t mean that I will let my guard down with gals like you!

Your cute acting won’t affect me! I love money more than women!!”

“Tch! …avaricious man!”

“Huhh?? What did you just say??”

MINFI then walk away but then she turns around and shouted

“I hope your business will go bankrupt! Bleee!!”

The Vendor was pissed but MINFI is too far away for her to chase and he can’t leave his shop unattended.

MINFI then take a stroll into the other shops, and as she goes deeper within the market, the number of people gradually increases.

 As she walks, someone wearing a hood accidentally bump into her and they both get knock down.

“Tetetetete! That hurts! Hey you watch where you’re going! And it’s not right to run while looking backwards you know! Look what just happen!”

“Um… I’m sorry! *bow*”. That is only thing that the person wearing a hood can replied.

Then loud voices coming from behind them stands out!

“Did he go here?”

“Probably!”

“Then, he couldn’t have gone far! We can still catch up to him!”

The voices of several men put the person in hood to panic. Because the crowd has been doubled compared to when they bump into each other, getting out will be very difficult.

MINFI then caught up on what’s going on and she suddenly grabs the person’s hand and drag him up while jumping on the stores tent up to the surrounding roofs.

“Wh-what are you doing?! Whaaaaah!!!”

“Those guys are chasing you right?”. MINFI asks while looking at the guys who is browsing the crowd.

-So he’s a guy huh?-

The boy then nodded in return.

The guys notice them jumps and seeing it, they shouted~

“There he is! Wait stop!”

But they didn’t listen and continue to run until the guys lost sight of them.

“*Gulp* Heh! Heh! Heh!”

“Oh, come on! I was the one who did most of the running and jumping… so how come you’re the one who’s out of breath!?”

The boy removes his hood, revealing his greyish hair, bluish eyes, and smooth pale white skin.

With this trait, one conclusion comes into mind of many, the boy is indeed handsome!

But his appearance was not the one that catches MINFI’s attention, she accidentally took a glimpse of his clothes under the black cloak his wearing.

With MINFI’s many worlds’ experience, she can easily determine the status of a person through their clothes especially if the world is in a middle age-magic system. Thus, she deems the boy in front of him to be filthy rich.

And so, with that in mind she asks the boy this.

“Well, aren’t you going to thank me or something?”

The boy was confused and replied with

“Huh…??? Listen here, you’re the one who selfishly dragged me around, it’s not like I ask you to do that or something…”

“Is that so? Then maybe I should drag you back there…”

The boy’s attitude changes, implying that he really is on the run from those guys earlier.

“Oya? It seems that you don’t want that? …Then!”

“Alright! Alright!”

The boy then stand firm and elegantly bowed his head while saying “Thank you very much” with a tone that implies gratefulness.

This act that he just displayed becomes an assurance for MINFI that the boy is indeed of high status, and high status means wealth! Thus, she demands a compensation.

“Hmmm……. Well, that’s not the gratitude I want you to display *giggle*”

The boy lifted his head with confusion.

“Huh?? …Th-then what do you want?? Money?? Khe! you… scammer!”

“Non-non… I don’t exactly want money… I want you to accompany me in the market and let’s have a food trip! With you as my sponsor! Hehe!”

Is what MINFI replied while waving her index finger and striking a “Genius pose” (putting both hands in the waist while standing tall and emits a prideful look).

The boy can only sigh in return.

“So, it is still about money, you just don’t want me to directly hand it over to you…”

“Hmmm? No, that’s not exactly it!”

“Huh??? Wh-what do you mean…?”

“Hehe… just wait and see”

-What is this girl actually thinking? Well, my goal of going out is sightseeing, so might as well accompany her-

Is what he thinks as she follows MINFI towards the other side of the market.

“Oh yeah! I haven’t asked your name yet, did I? …I’m MINFI by the way”

MINFI said so as she stops walking and offer a handshake towards the boy.

“Ah…. Um… I’m Jake…”

 The boy replied with uncertainty while responding to the handshake.

MINFI was intrigued towards the boy’s response that seem like with full of worries.

“Oh, come one! What kind of response is that??? Is your name really that famous that you are hesitating to tell it??”

The boy just averted his eyes as a response.

“Sigh…! Fine then, Jake, right? That name sounds gloomy… I know! I’ll just call you Ja-Ja from now on”

“Huh???!!!”

“What? It’s very cute, it feels like you’re singing when you said it”

“Pffft! Hahahahahaha! Never in my life had anyone ever give me a nickname like that…

It’s so lame I can’t stop laughing hahahahaha!”

 The boy said so, as he holds his stomach while laughing.

Instead of getting triggered, MINFI smiled at Jake.

“You seem better now”

Having said so, she smiled again.

“*Still laughing* huh??? What???”

The boy replied while wiping his tears from laughing so hard.

“You look like a walking dead earlier, with that hopeless expression of yours added with your pale-sick appearance…

But now you seem much better!”

After hearing that, Jake wondered if MINFI came up with his lame nickname just to force a laugh out of him and he started to wonder if she really is a good-hearted person and not some woman who just want money.

But that thought quickly vanish as he accompanies MINFI in trying all the food from store to store.

She would almost empty out every food store she approaches. As the number of stores, she tried escalated, Jakes wallet gradually flatten which slowly got on his nerves.

“At this rate, all the money I’ve “borrowed” from Sis will run out… “

(Back at the castle, there was a person who is looking for her purse and upon finding it, she found a note that says “I’ll bring it back someday…”. She then shouted in anger.)

“Wait! Did she know that the money that she will ask me will be easily spend so she chose to have me accompany her so I can be her bank while going on this food trip of hers!!!”

Having that conclusion, Jake can only shout while holding his bag of coins in his chest.

-Oya? did he catch up on my plan? Oh well, I’ve already tasted all the food here so it is too late now-

MINFI thought so while she watches the young man shout to his heart content.

Jake then approaches MINFI with his head slightly looking at the ground.

“You….”

“Huh? What’s up? Do you want some?”

Is what MINFI said while offering her bag of nuts to Jake.

Jake then grabs the bag, but sadly the bag is already empty.

He then grabs MINFI by the shoulder while preparing to said something big.

“Y-you… Gluttonous woman!!!! Just what kind of stomach do you have?!! Huh??!! My moneys almost gone and you look like you can still eat a bunch! Arghh!!! Just my luck!!!”

He complains while shouting. He then gradually stops and sits down because he is out of breath from shouting.

-Achaaa…! It’s looks like I over did it, I thought that he has plenty of cash with him, so I just let myself let loose there, but now that I think about it, he was on the run so he probably just has a limited amount with him…

Oh well, I guess I should stop my food trip for now…-

“Now, now, you can just go back home and ask your parents to give you some… right?”

“If I go back, I won’t be able to return here”

Is what he replied in a gloomy tone. Upon hearing that MINFI wondered.

“Huh?? What do you mean….?

!!! don’t tell me you run away from home!?”

Jake averted his eyes from MINFI and nod slightly as a response.

“So, does that mean that those guys from this morning was chasing you because???!”

“They are my personal guard whom I ditch when I got the chance earlier”

“Acha!! If I’ve known that, I would’ve been a little nicer to you *giggle*”

“Well, the fact that me using your money for my food trip wouldn’t change though”

She added.

“Tsk! That doesn’t change anything then!”

“Hahaha! Ma, ma, don’t sweat on the small details”

 MINFI replied while tapping his shoulder.

Jake then sits down again with a look that is thinking on what his next move will be.

Upon seeing his expression, MINFI suggested something.

“For now, I think you should go back home…”

“Huh???!! Are you stupid? Why would I? now that I’ve finally gotten out!”

Is what he angrily replied.

“Now, now, hear me out first hehe…

I said that because judging by your physique you wouldn’t survive outside even for a night, and you don’t have any money left to afford an inn, right?”

“And whose fault do you think that is??!!”

Is what he immediately replied.

“Now, now, I do admit that it was partially my fault…”

*Staaaaaaaaaare*

“……. Alright it was my fault!”

Then MINFI think of something.

“I know! Basically, you run away because you want to see the world, right?”

“Y-yeah…”

Jake reluctantly replied.

“Then as payback, I will ask the young master to allow you accompany us in our journey, you will be able to see lots of lots beautiful sceneries and so many different types life!”

But Jake didn’t take her offer seriously.

Then all of a sudden, a group of soldiers suddenly surrounded them.

“Huh?? What do you guys want? Fo-for your information, I p-paid all the foods I’ve eaten so far! S-so, you can’t arrest me! I didn’t do anything wrong!”

Is what she said while striking a “combat pose” (like a boxing stance for example).

“MINFI you’re wrong… they are not here for you”

Is what Jake said as he stands up and walk towards the bunch of soldiers.

“Huh?? What do you mean…?”

But Jake didn’t answer her question, instead he walks away with the guards and as the distance between them widen, he opens his mouth.

With a sad tone he spoke.

“Goodbye MINFI, it was nice meeting you…”

Upon hearing it, MINFI wondered.

“Ja-Ja….? …I didn’t know you were such a big shot! Having those so many guards with you! If I did, I would’ve eaten a lot more when we were at the market earlier!”

Jake kind of predicted her reaction but it still pisses him off but not in a bad way. Although he is pissed, he was smiling as he walks away.

“Tchhh… my wallets gone, so I can’t eat anymore… oh well, might as well go back and tell the young master all the food I’ve tasted today, that will surely make him jealous hehehe…”

And so, with that thought in mind MINFI went back to the inn.

At that time, Fil and Tren took the liberty to went to the market to grab something to eat because just like the line in the gate, the line in the registration at the arena is pretty much the same.

Having to stand in line for hours drain their stomach. Thus, leading to their detour to the market because it is close to the arena.

But when they’ve arrived most of the food stores are closing very early. Wondering why, they’ve asked the vendors.

“Um…. excuse me sir?”

“Ah, yes? How can I help you?”

Stopping his work, the vendor replied.

“Did something happen here? Most of you seem to be closing a little early…?”

Is what Tren asks while looking around.

With a slight hint of happiness mix with a sense of surprise, the Vendor answered.

“Well, you see… this morning there was this pair of youngbloods that suddenly appeared here.

It was a pair of a boy and a girl… at first, we thought that they just want to try every product we have here as they buy from store to store, especially the girl…

I’m quite sure she’s mostly responsible for all of this…”

“Why what did she do? Did she rob you or something?”

Is what Tren asks as he look around again trying to find some evidence of resistance.

But he found nothing.

Instead, the vendor laughs.

“Hahahahahaha! Rob? Yeah, you can call it that…you see, that girl just keep on coming on us, and within a couple of hours; without us noticing our stocks have run dry. Hence, we have no choice but to close for now…

I kind of felt pity towards the boy who’s with her, his wallet must’ve gone dry from that…

Oh well, it been great for us hahaha!

My, my, this tournament sure attracts different kinds of people… I wonder if that girl is a warrior participating in the tournament?? Thanks to her, I’ve managed to achieve my quota for today this early!”

Hearing all that, Fil now has a clear idea of that girl’s identity.

 -I’m pretty sure, this is MINFI’s handiwork… goodness! that girl’s stomach really does not live up to her appearance… and that boy with him… he must be some kind of noble or something and MINFI trick him into providing her money.

I will give her a good scolding later… but thank goodness she didn’t cause anything worst-

“Hahahaha, the world really is a large place, there so many kinds of people! And that girl is one of a kind!”

“You’re exactly right! Hahahahaha”

Fil replied while riding the pace of the vendor.

Tren on the other hand, seeing them laughing, also laugh.

“Well, it’s been a great day, see you around lads”

Having said so, the vendor continues to close his store.

“Okay then, thank you for the information mister vendor…

We have no choice but to endured our hunger for a little while sir Fil…

It looks like there is no food left here”

Tren said so, as he looks around once again.

“You’re right hahahaha!”

-Well, I’m still not quite hungry, so I can wait-

They then depart the market and head on to the “Cavern dish” to eat their fill.

After eating Tren and Fil converse for a moment as they rest their belly.

“Say, sir Fil! That girl who just hoard all the food at the market this morning must’ve been a very strong individual…”

“Oh yeah? And why is that?”

“You see, they say that strong people tend to have big appetites, it’s been a given! So, I can say that that girl must be really strong, you need to watch out for her at the competition sir Fil!”

Hearing that made Fil laugh and almost spit the water his drinking.

“…Not exactly, but I’m quite sure that she’s just a gluttonous lady!”

-I can’t tell him that that’s MINFI, he wouldn’t believe me either way…-

“Don’t worry about that, I’m pretty sure we won’t cross paths at the tournament…

Now, let’s go back to the inn and have some rest, my body is demanding a relaxing bath after standing there at the arena for hours”

“Y-yeah! Me too, to be honest, my feet hurts now that all that standing is over, and my body still aches from the injuries”

With that, they left the bill at the table and head straight to the inn.

When Fil enters his room, he found MINFI there, lying and sleeping so soundly.

I will take the liberty of taking a bath first, my body became sticky with all that registration business”

He decided not disturb MINFI’s slumber and head to the bath. There, he spends a relaxing hour in soaking his body in hot water while drinking some local wine.

Fil said so, while tracing Reg’s location through his mana.

Unknown to him. By that time, Regulus has already been long defeated by the four kings and the white king is in the middle of absorbing his magic power.

After taking a bath, Fil then went to his room, and by that time, MINFI woke up.

*Yawn*

[Muhaaaah…. Hello there, young master, I see you’ve return…]

Fil is smiling at her as he responds.

“Yeah, I’m back MINFI… my ass!”

“I’ve been to the market a while ago and we heard the ridiculous thing that you just did!”

Is what he said while lecturing MINFI.

[We-wait young master! how did you know it was me? I was sure I’ve based my appearance base on this world’s humans]

Fil is triggered as he responded in a high tone.

“Of course, I know! you’re the only one capable of hoarding an entire market of food within hours, your weight must’ve been increase by a ton already!”

[Young master! how many times do I have to tell you that never mention a woman’s weight in front of her!!!]

“Like that matter now! …tell me, the boy who sponsored you? Did you blackmail him or something? If you did, I will put you on dishwashing duty when we return to ELEMENTO *menacing*”

[Eeeeeeee!!!! No! I didn’t! I swear! In fact, I save him from some pursuers and it just so happens that he is quite rich, so I took the liberty to ask him to sponsor me as compensation in helping him and he agreed!]

Upon hearing that, Fil came in to conclusion that that kid might be connected to the royal family so he ordered MINFI this~

“If you happen to see that kid again at the tournament, I want you to approach him and befriend him again, okay?”

“You know? You’re attitude after eating you’re fill, really flip upside down, I really like your serious attitude, it gives off this very intelligent and wise vibe!”

[Hahaha! This must be a side effect of me taking the form of this world’s people, well it will be back in a day so bear with it for a while young master!]

“Yes, yes, just don’t over do it next time okay? Although I don’t mind trouble, the gee- I mean grandpa might scold us if we go overboard”

With that, MINFI nodded in return.

Three days have pass, and the day of the tournament is here.

All the participants as well as the crowds have flooded the arena.

They are all unaware of the disaster that will happen later on.
