Kai

I wake up to my alarm on my phone playing a cheesy ringtone. I glance at the time and it reads 6:15 am. I'm fifteen minutes late. I hop out of bed and throw on the clothes I'd left on my desk chair the night before. I throw my hair into a ponytail and slip on my sneakers. I ensure I have everything, including my phone charger, and pack my dirty clothes up into the suitcase. When I look up from what I'm doing, I see my dad leaning on the doorway with a taller, blond man standing behind him. "You ready, Sunny? They're already running behind because of you." I nod, The other man, I'm assuming is Elijah, helps me with my second suitcase and my dad quietly follows. He has some kind of care package in his hands. "What's that?" I ask him, confused. He hands it to me and gives me a tight hug. I hear him sniffle a little and it breaks my heart. But, I got myself into this mess and now I have to face the consequences. I look into the plastic basket in my hands as he pulls away and notice a few bottles of my favorite drink and some snacks. I guess he packed this the night before so I wouldn't be hungry or thirsty on the way to where I'm going. I turn to the car and open the door to the backseat. I climb in, seeing a petite, brunette woman in the front seat. She must be Rowan. She's pretty. We pull out of the driveway and about two hours into the drive, I start to squirm because I have to go to the bathroom. Eli looks at me in the rearview mirror, raising an eyebrow. "Are you okay?" Those are the first words he's said to me since he showed up at my house. "I have to pee. Can we pull over or something?" I plead. "We can't, we're on a strict schedule and have another 3 hours ahead of us before our planned stop. You should've been ready when we got there so you could do your business beforehand." He sighs and continues driving. Rowan doesn't say a word to help me plead my case and I have to hold it until we get to a McDonald's 3 hours later. As soon as we park, I rush out of the car, almost forgetting my purse, and rush into the bathroom. After I've relieved myself, I buy some food, more food than usual for some reason, and get back in the car to pig out. "You must be hungry, sweetie." The sound of Rowan's voice is almost eerie. Still chewing my burger, I say, "Yeah, I'm a teenager, we're typically very hungry." I continue eating and put in my earbuds. They're blasting music. I feel my eyes start to droop after eating and I get a quick drink of my soda before getting comfy. I tossed and turned all night, so I am very tired. My eyes slowly close and I drift off to sleep. I begin dreaming shortly after, which is weird. My dreams have been non-existent lately. **********Dream******** I'm walking down the hallway of a school I've never seen before and a tall, handsome, boy approaches me. He looks like a bad boy. His bottom lip has two piercings, he has gauges and his hair is slightly shaggy. His mouth moves like he's saying something to me, but I hear nothing. He reaches out to touch me and I step back. His face scrunches in confusion. I jolt awake when the car stops abruptly. ***********Dream Ends******* "What the hell?!" I say in a raised voice. "What did you just say??" Rowan sounds mad. "You heard me. I'm irritated because Eli slammed on the brakes and I was having a nice dream. I haven't dreamed in weeks, you could've let me enjoy it. Especially since the boy in my dream was so cute." Eli looks at me with amusement crossing his face. "Oh, I'm sorry, Princess Sunny. I forgot you like your sleep. I haven't seen you in 12 years." He laughs a little. "Well, I don't remember." I look out the window. "Haha! What did the boy in your dream look like anyway?" Eli asks, jokingly. "Uh, he had dark shaggy hair, guages, and two piercings on his bottom lip." The car goes silent. "What color were his eyes? How tall was he?" Rowan begins quizzing me. "His eyes were a hazel color. More green than brown. He was tall, maybe 6'2"." I say with hesitation. "Well, I'm sure he'd like to know you think he's cute." Eli snickers. "You know him??" I lean forward in surprise. "Of course I do." He smiles as we pull into a secluded, snowy driveway. I watch as a little girl runs out of the large house in front of us along with a teenage boy following behind her, holding a toddler. As the boy gets closer to the car, my eyes widen. "Holy...shit." I mutter to myself. "Is he still cute?" Rowan snickers. I can't speak and just get out of the car, never taking my eyes off of him. How was he in my dream? Rowan gets out and scoops the toddler boy into her arms. The little girl runs up and hugs Eli. She turns to me and smiles. "Who's she, Daddy?" She points in my direction. The boy answers before Eli can. "That's Sunny, or Sunshine," He smirks at me and whispers, "She hates it when you call her Sunshine." He goes around me to grab my bags from the car. He finds my snack basket and steals a Dr. Pepper. "Hey! That's mine!" I try to snatch it back, but he holds it above his head and I'm too short to reach it. "Ya know, I have a name. Did you already forget? It's only been a few years. Call me by my name and I might give it back." His smirks transforms into a smile. It takes me a second and I have to focus on his face to remember a little 5 year old boys' face. "Give it back, Kai." I glare at him until he brings it down to my reach. He plops it back in the basket and gives me a devious smile. I smile sweetly back at him and follow the family inside. I think I'll be fine here.
