The rest of the evening was wonderful. After our fun in the car, I took her to one of my favorite places in the city – a hole-in-the-wall Korean BBQ joint in Silver Lake where I knew most of the staff. Over ribs and bulgogi beef, we caught up on what was going on with our lives.
As we spoke, I realized that I didn’t really have anyone like her in my life, someone with whom I could grab a bite and just be.
As close as Archie and I were, there was still a professional distance.
I preferred it that way.
That is, until I’d met Delilah.
“I need to tell you something,” I said.
She popped a piece of bulgogi into her mouth with her chopsticks and c****d her head to the side.
“What?”
“I’m going to be out of town for the next week.”
“You are?”
