Chapter Fourteen
Suddenly Gustav heard a commotion coming from the great hall of the castle. Quickly throwing on a robe, he hurried down the stairs, Gwendolen running after him. He remembered that most of his bodyguard had gone hunting that morning. When he entered the hall he saw that the few remaining had been made prisoner.
“What is the meaning of this?” Gustav demanded, looking around for who was responsible.
The Thane of Crawdor stepped forward. “If you will order your men to stop struggling, sir, they will come to no harm.”
“What do you mean by invading my house with armed men?” Gustav demanded. Gwendolen came to stand beside him. He wished she had stayed upstairs.
