5. Trouble at work.

Kaira gave a mysterious look to Rohan and Aryan. They told the girls that they'll keep this story for some other day, and not today because they wish to tell them Ayush is also around. Kaira knew there is something fishy but she also knew there is no point in asking them because they weren't going to give the answer now so she had to let it go for now. They decided to start planning for Ayush and Tia to get together after having lunch. Lunch was prepared so they sat down at the dining table for lunch. They enjoyed the lunch. It was just typical Indian curry with roti. They moved back to the hall after eating. They started planning on what to do about Ayush. Rohan asked Kaira if she ever tried talking into him and she said, 'Of course I did. A part of me thinks he has come to terms with his feelings and he isn't ready to accept it because he doesn't want to lose the friend he has in her, because the day he came back, I spoke to him and I told him, talk to her before he's too late. He told her that he would but he is just not ready to lose a friend. I believe we should give him that guarantee that he isn't going to lose Tia. We need to make a plan for that.' They nodded understanding and everyone started thinking of what plan they can make. 

Jia came up with a plan and shared it with everyone. They all agreed to the plan since it wouldn't harm anyone's relation with Ayush. They decided to execute the plan by next weekend and the girls decided to leave since it was almost 5 in the evening. The girls bid the boys goodbye after asking them to make sure Ayush doesn't find out this meeting happened and they met Jia until the plan is executed and left from there. Jia sat and said, 'I am shocked. Rohan has a fantastic personality, but even after this kind of personality, why would he murder someone?' Kaira looked at her shocked and said, 'Jia, stop it. We have no idea about his past, we are no one to question or judge.' Jia apologized as she understood Kaira is right. The more Jia speaks about it, the more Kaira would be dicey of working with him. She had kept his past aside when she decided to work in his company. Kaira asked her why she didn't want Aryan to know about her idea of opening a firm to which she said, 'If you would have told him, he would have instantly said that he would invest because he considers you as a friend and I don't want that. I am going to send some of my work to him now that I know his interests are inclined towards the same thing as mine are. I want him to invest because he thinks I am worth it, and not because he and I are acquaintances.

They reached home and Jia decided to go home since she had a lot of work pending. Kaira walked in and saw her parents sitting and watching TV. She joined them and was casually talking about work. Raj asked her if she was liking the work and if she is comfortable to which she said, 'Yes, dad. I haven't had a lot of work to decide if I like what I am doing, but I am pretty comfortable as of now. My boss, had told me that there might be work from tomorrow, let's see what happens.' He smiled and asked her about Ayush. She told him that Ayush was out for some work. He got annoyed and said, 'I have told him a million times to not work on a Sunday, it's an off day. He doesn't understand that his body needs a break once a week and then he complains to his mother that he isn't feeling well.' Nalini, their mother, intervened in the middle and said, 'Stop saying anything about my baby, he does this to reduce the workload on you Raj, you should be the last person complaining.' 

Kaira laughed and said, 'Yes, mum. He's your baby, we know it. We know he does it for dad, but what is the point if he doesn't take a day off from that and spends that day with us?' Before Nalini could say anything, Ayush walked in and said, 'Doll, I didn't go for any office work. I went out to help Tia with some work.' She gave a notorious smile which he ignored and went to the kitchen to grab something to eat. He asked Kaira why she was dressed to which she said she had gone out with Jia. He told her, 'It's been long I haven't met Jia. How is she doing?' Kaira replied saying, 'She's doing great Bhai. She met me also after a long time. Work has been keeping her busy. She has been stressed about her company. She is still short of funds, she is hoping she finds an investor soon.' Raj interrupted and said, 'Talk to Jia and tell her our company is ready to invest, it'll give a nice boost as well.' Kaira sighed and said, 'I spoke to her about this already. I told her this to which she completely refused and said that she isn't taking any funds from her father and doesn't want to do that with you also because she feels she isn't in a phase where she is in desperate need of help. She told me she wants to try some more.' Raj nodded understanding and Ayush said, 'Kai baby, I know a friend who would love to invest in this, maybe you should introduce Jia to-' Before he could complete, Kaira said, 'Aryan Singhania. I know Bhai. I wanted to do that too, but let's see what happens.' 

Ayush gave her a questioning look and asked her how she knew Aryan was into interior designing. She didn't want to lie to Ayush but she had no choice until their plan was executed so she said, 'He told me his interest in interior on his birthday.' He nodded and went to his room to freshen up. Kaira did the same as she was tired and needed a relaxing shower. She took a shower and came out. She hadn't checked her phone in almost a day. She unlocked and saw a lot of unwanted messages from family groups. She noticed a w******p text from Rohan. She opened it and noticed it was from last night, around 2 AM. 

*Text conversation*

Rohan: Thank you so much Kaira for accepting my request. I would love the journey we're going to have. I hope you reached home safely. Good night, see you on Monday, Ms. Vedant.

Kaira: I am so sorry. I touched my phone after almost a day. I missed this message last night. Anyway, see you at work tomorrow. I hope you didn't mind that I got a friend along with me.

Rohan: It's absolutely okay. No way, in fact, I liked her company. She's a very nice girl. I noticed the eye talk you were having with her when Aryan told you about interior designing?

Kaira: You saw that? Actually, I don't know if it is my space to tell you or not.

Rohan: Does it concern me in any way?

Kaira: No, it doesn't.

Rohan: Then go ahead, tell me.

Kaira: Actually Jia is planning on opening her own firm of interior designing and she is looking for investors. My dad and her dad were ready to provide funds, but she refused since she knew they're doing it because she is their daughter.

Rohan: Oh, so that explains it. Why didn't she want him to know?

Kaira: She wants to send her work to Aryan by herself because she feels she wants an investor because she is worth it, and no because of someone else.

Rohan: I understand her point of view. I hope you two reached home safely?

Kaira: Yes, we did. Thank you for asking. 

The conversation ended there as neither of them knew what to text. Kaira opened her i********: and saw a follow request from Aryan Singhania. She accepted it and followed him back. She stalked his account a bit and noticed that he wasn't really a fan of posting pictures. He had a handful of his solo pictures and a lot of pictures with Ayush and Rohan. She tapped on Rohan's profile and noticed it was a private one, surprisingly. She firstly didn't expect him to have an i********: profile, and secondly, a private one? He is quite a famous personality for his work and expected him to have a public account. She was intrigued to stalk his account, but she definitely didn't want him to think she is a creep so didn't send a follow request. She scrolled through the app for a bit and eventually left her phone in the room and went to Ayush's room. He was just lying down on the bed so she went and lied down beside him and threw a pillow at him.

He gave her an angry look but she just shrugged it. If one sibling was bored, they would just go to the other's room and chill. Ayush was telling her everything about the one-month stay he had in Australia. He was telling her everything he did there, and the places he visited. He told her, 'I had a lot of fun kiddo, but I wished I had taken you along. There were so many adventurous things to do which you would have loved.' She smiled and said, 'Don't worry. For coming back this late, I am going to empty your pockets, planning a trip for us. You know what, I think you, me, Tia, Jia, Aryan, and Rohan should go on a trip. What say?' 'Everything is okay, why Jia?' asked Ayush to which she said, 'Because it would be such a good opportunity for her and Aryan to get to know each other and maybe open a firm together.' He gave her an impressed look and said, 'We have a long weekend in the coming week, let's make a plan?' 

Kaira hesitated and said, 'Bhai, this will be my first trip with my boss, you think so soon we should plan for a trip? How about I get comfortable with him at work?' He rolled his eyes and said, 'You've gotta be joking. You two are comfortable outside work, and I am not making a plan with your boss, but with your friend. So loosen up. I'm sure he wouldn't mind a trip since it has been more than a year he has taken a break from work.' She agreed and nodded. She asked him to wait for a bit as she wants to speak to him if she is supposed to work or it's a holiday for her too. He nodded understanding and immediately took out his phone to call Rohan and put it on speaker. Rohan picked the call and immediately said, 'Yes, Mr. Vedant. What work do you have that you disturb me on a Sunday night?' Kaira's eyes grew wide as she hasn't heard or seen this joyful side of Rohan, while Ayush rolled his eyes.

*Phone conversation*

Ayush: Chill, I don't wish to spoil my Sunday by talking to you. 

Rohan: Okay, tell me what happened?

Ayush: Ro, we were planning for a trip the coming weekend since it's a long weekend, you free?

Rohan: Who we? And yeah, the office will be closed from Thursday evening.

Ayush: You, me, Kaira, Aryan, Tia, and Kaira's best friend Jia.

Rohan: Oh yes, I remember Kaira mentioning her name to me. I am cool with it. Aryan is free too. Ask the girls and make a plan. I have been wanting to go on a trip for so long.

Ayush: Done, I'll ask them and make a plan. Cool, bye.

Rohan: Bye.

*End of phone conversation*

Ayush looked at her questioning her and she nodded in a yes. She called Jia and took her confirmation, meanwhile, Ayush called Tia and Aryan. Everyone confirmed and they made a plan for Goa. The girls really wanted to go to Goa while the boys were okay with anything. Ayush made a w******p group and asked everyone if they wanted to travel by flight or road. Everyone responded they wanted a road trip. Ayush made the booking for the stay and both of them went down to the hall to inform their parents. Raj and Nalini just asked them to be safe and have fun. They all headed to the dining table to have dinner. Kaira went to the garden for a walk after her dinner. She was a little lost and wondered what her life has become. Her life was just about Jia and Ayush, and today she has two more friends, who are mysterious people. She didn't know what she was getting herself into, a part of her was scared, but she knew she had to trust them since Ayush trusts his entire life with them.

She was strolling in the garden for a bit and went back to her room. She wasn't sleepy so she decided to watch something on Netflix. It was almost 11 PM and decided to sleep since she had to go to work the next morning. On the other hand, Rohan had nothing to do since Aryan had to go for some work, so he decided to work for a while. He got engrossed in work that he didn't realize it is already 9:30 PM. The caretaker came to his room and asked him to have dinner. He went for dinner and came back to continue with the work. He fell asleep while working.

The next morning Kaira woke up a little late and was rushing to work since she didn't want to be late. She was ready by almost 9:30 and she knew she had to hurry since it takes 20 minutes easily to reach her workplace, but you can never trust Mumbai's traffic. She skipped breakfast and rushed out having just a glass of fresh juice. She reached the office just in time and rushed to her cabin. She kept her bag and went to Rohan's cabin. She knocked on the door and entered as she heard a "come in". She greeted him with a good morning and apologized for being late. He looked at the watch and said, 'You're on time, Ms. Vedant. We have a lot of work for today. I'll give you a few files and shall mail you a few presentations, please have a look and make a detailed summary of it. Also, I have a lot of meetings lined up for the week, could you make a work schedule for me?' She nodded and said, ' Yes, sir. I'll make your schedule first. Give me half an hour for that. I'll make a detailed summary after that, is that okay, sir?' He nodded and got back to work.

She went to her cabin and could hear her stomach growling but she knew she had no time for food now. She started working on the schedule and was done in half an hour. She went to Rohan's cabin and handed it over to him. He informed her that she would be expected to accompany him to the meetings and she nodded. They had to go for a meeting at 3 PM. She had some time for it and decided to start with the other work. It took her almost 2 hours to make the summary for one deal. She wanted to take a break but she had another file to finish before the meeting so she got onto it soon as it was already 1 PM.

She tried to finish this soon and she was in the middle of the work when Rohan asked her to get ready since they would be leaving in 15 minutes. She nodded and continued doing it. She was luckily done in 10 minutes and moved to Rohan's cabin taking her bag. He asked her to wait up for 5 minutes, he had to just remove the file for it. Kaira took the initiative to find it. She was searching around the rack and didn't find the file. Rohan didn't remember where he kept the file and started to panic since they didn't have a lot of time in hand. Kaira asked him to take a look at the drawers, and he did. The file wasn't there either. At this point, Kaira was so freaked out because it was an important meeting. She told she'll check in her cabin and went to search for it. She found it in one of the drawers in her cabin and sighed a relief breath. She went to Rohan's cabin and told him she found it. He seemed a little angry but since he didn't have time, he looked at the file and saw that the pages were not at all organized which made him more furious. He said, 'Ms. Vedant. May I know why are all the pages unorganized?' She flinched a little at his tone but calmed herself and said, 'Sir, I hadn't taken a look at this file earlier, I don't know why is it unorganized, but I'll arrange it for you on the way.' He handed over the file to her, collected his phone and coat, and walked out. Kaira had started feeling a little weak at this point but she didn't have a choice but to follow Rohan. 

They sat in the car and as soon as they did, Kaira opened the file and started arranging it. It took her 10 minutes and handed it to Rohan so that he could take a look. He told her it was fine now and finally, she relaxed a bit. She didn't want anything more to happen with regard to this meeting. They reached and Rohan wore his coat and walked into the office where the meeting was. Kaira followed him, as he walked into the office with such attitude that people wouldn't really want to greet him, seeing his poker face. They walked into the cabin of the CEO. Kaira smiled as soon as she walked into the cabin but she had to maintain professionalism. They had come to Aryan's office for the deal. Aryan greeted her and she said, 'Good afternoon, sir. A pleasure meeting you.' Aryan gave her a weird look and said, 'Kaira please don't call me sir, not in the cabin at least.' She smiled and said, 'I'm here for work. I have to and I will call you sir, deal with it.' Aryan looked at Rohan and he just lifted his hands up in defense. Aryan's PA walked in and said they are ready for the meeting so they all were ready to move to the meeting room. Before they could walk out, Kaira started to feel a little dizzy and lost her balance a bit. Aryan who was next to her balanced her and got worried. He asked her, 'Kaira, what's wrong? Are you okay?' Rohan also got worried, but Kaira didn't want to tell anyone so she said, 'I'm fine, I just had like a head rush, don't worry. Let's go for the meeting, don't want to be late.' Aryan asked her if she's sure and she nodded. Rohan was looking at her worried and she noticed it, she just gave him a nod and asked him to relax, she's fine. He nodded and they all moved to the meeting room. 

The meeting started and Kaira was barely able to concentrate in the meeting and Rohan was noticing it, but he couldn't say anything. Because she seemed weak, Rohan decided to make bits and pieces of notes, he didn't want to lose out on the deal. The meeting got over and it was almost 5 in the evening and Kaira wasn't able to handle herself anymore. They all dispersed from the meeting room and Aryan, Rohan, and Kaira went to Aryan's cabin. They walked in and Rohan asked, 'Kaira, you don't seem alright to me, what happened?' She was trying to speak but her body was giving up. She could feel her head dizzy and was looking for a place to sit but before she could walk to the sofa, she fainted. Rohan and Aryan rushed to her. Aryan grabbed a glass of water and sprinkled it on her face, but no response. They noticed she was sweating. Rohan picked her up and made her lie down on the sofa while Aryan lowered the temperature of the AC. Rohan was patting her face and sprinkled some water. Finally, they noticed some movement and noticed she was trying to open her eyes. They moved a little aside to give her some space. She sat up and tried to adjust to herself. Aryan sat down next to her and side hugged and asked her if she's okay. She lightly nodded. Rohan asked her why she is feeling so weak and she looked here and there and didn't know what to tell them. Rohan gave her a stern look and she finally said, 'Actually, I didn't eat anything since morning. I was running late in the morning and then I got busy with work, so I didn't have the time to eat. I thought I'll have something on the way here, but the file got messed up and I didn't have the time.' 

Rohan got mad at her and said, 'Are you out of your head, Kaira? I gave work, I know, but that doesn't mean you ignore your health. The first thing you were supposed to do today was have something at work, but no, you chose to overwork yourself. I don't expect people working with me to be so careless.' Kaira was almost in tears since she didn't expect Rohan to shout at her this way. Aryan noticed it and asked Rohan to calm down. He took the hint and calmed down. He asked Aryan to order some food. He passed Kaira a water bottle and sat next to her. He apologized and asked her to stop being so careless and he doesn't expect this again. She nodded and smiled. Food came and Aryan opened it for her and served it for her. Kaira felt weird and said, 'Aryan please don't serve, I'll do it. It's very weird for me.' He looked at her and gave a warning look to her. She looked down embarrassed. He passed her the plate and she started eating it. After she was done eating, she turned to Rohan and said, 'Sir, I couldn't make notes, I'm really sorry for it.' He smiled and said, 'Don't worry, I have taken them. I noticed you weren't keeping well so I made notes.' She smiled and said thank you. She noticed the care he has for people, in general.

It was 6 PM already so Rohan asked her to leave since she was feeling unwell. She knew there was another meeting lined up at work today so she refused to go since she was feeling better now. Rohan was hesitant but Kaira requested since it was her work so he agreed. They left for their office and Aryan asked her to take care. As soon as they reached Rohan asked her to take 15 minutes of rest since they have time for the meeting. As she was going to her cabin he stopped her and asked her, 'Ms. Vedant, what was that file doing in your cabin and why was it all over the place?' 'Sir, I genuinely have no idea how was that there. I haven't opened that drawer since I have joined and I didn't know the file was in my cabin, believe me, sir.' Kaira said. Rohan looked at her being so worried and said, 'Relax, Kaira. I am obviously not doubting you. As a boss, it was important for me to know if it happened by you, or my previous PA. I of course believe you. I know how Mr. Vedant has bought up his kids and I know how Ayush is. Don't worry, I'll get this sorted, go take some rest.' She nodded and went to her cabin.

Rohan called the receptionist and asked her to give the details of his earlier PA and make sure she comes to the office tomorrow. He took the file of the client and was going through it before the meeting. Kaira walked in and told him that the client is here and waiting for him in the meeting room. He handed over the file to Kaira and walked to the meeting room. They walked in and Rohan kept a poker face while greeting the client, looked like he isn't very fond of him. He shook hands with Kaira and took her hand to kiss it while complimenting her. Rohan could see on her face that she is very uncomfortable and that's why he came in front of Kaira and removed her hand from his. He gave a warning look to him and said, 'Look, Mr. Kapoor, I have given you a warning earlier and this is the last time I'm warning you, stay away from people working in my office, it will not take me even a minute to cancel the deal. Your company is running at a loss so I'm sure it'll make a huge difference to you. Now back off and concentrate on the meeting.' Kaira sensed that the situation was getting heated up so she just patted on his back and asked him to relax. He moved back and asked Kaira if she's okay to which she nodded in a yes. All the other people working on the deal walked into the meeting room so Rohan composed himself and took his seat. Kaira sat down and opened her book to take notes. The meeting went on smoothly except for Rohan giving deadly glares to Mr. Kapoor.

After the meeting, Rohan and Kaira reached Rohan's office. Rohan asked her to submit the summary tomorrow as it wasn't needed immediately. He asked her to go back home since it's already past her working hours. She told him that she'd give the summary by tomorrow morning to which he agreed. She packed her stuff and came back to his cabin to inform him that she's leaving. He said, 'Kaira, please take care of yourself and I don't wish to see the same thing happening again. Okay? Text me when you're home.' She nodded and said, 'Yes, Rohan. I'll text you once I'm home and I'll be careful from next time.' He smiled and she exited the office. She didn't want to drive back home so she called Ayush to know where he is. He said he's going to meet Rohan in the office. She told him that she's yet here since she had work and didn't wish to drive back home so she'll wait for him. She walked back to her cabin and put her head on the desk. As soon as Ayush came, he first went to Kaira's cabin. He saw that she had fallen asleep so he quietly went back to Rohan's cabin. Ayush asked him how come they were working till this hour today to which he said that meeting at Aryan's office got extended. Ayush said, 'Ohh. Explains why Kaira is still here.' Rohan looked confused and said, 'She's here? She left about 20 minutes back.' He nodded in a no and said, 'She called me before leaving. She sounded exhausted and didn't wanna drive back home so she asked me to pick her up. I went to her cabin before coming to you and noticed she's fast asleep. She looks very tired to me.' 

Rohan looked at him and said, 'She's had a hard day today, bro. I gave her a lot of work today and she thought I wanted her to give it to me immediately so she overworked herself, and on top of that, she skipped breakfast and lunch. She fainted in Aryan's office because of this and damn, I screamed at her for not taking care of herself. We came back and I asked her to leave for home but since there was another meeting she refused to go as she was feeling better. And you know that bastard Mr. Vihaan Kapoor. He was trying to hit on Kaira, he would have left with a broken nose from my office if Kaira wouldn't have stopped me. Poor girl, she's had a really bad day for herself. I was planning on giving her a leave. She just started with her work and it's been a bad experience.' Ayush was so worried about Kaira and said, 'Ro, she's working with you because she doesn't want any leverage. If she wanted that she'd be working with me today. Don't have to be so easy on her. I understand your concern and everything but don't give her any leverage because she's a friend. And that asshole Vihaan is going to get beaten up left right and center. How dare he? Does he have no shame? Is doll even okay? I'm going to her, you wait.' He ran out of Rohan's cabin and went to Kaira's cabin. He saw that she had just woken up and immediately went and hugged her. Kaira, who had just woken up got shocked with what happened and hugged him back asking him what happened. He hugged her tighter and didn't say anything.
