It was the figure hovering above me yesterday. Mr suit pants. Does he have the habit of showing up unnoticed?
"You are creepy, you know," I said.
I wondered if he heard me or if he just chose not to reply to me. He sat down, crossed his legs, and his hands still in his suit pants.
"I was waiting for your call all through the night." He said.
Just then, the waiter came over.
"Would you like to have anything, sir?" He asked.
The latter simply shook his head and resumed talking.
"You can't be keeping a CEO waiting for long. You should be happy that I am interested in you."
I chuckled.
"Wow! Like I asked you to." I sipped my coffee.
"You are beautiful and you should give men like me a chance." He dropped some wads of cash on the table.
"I want you to go somewhere with me today. Make sure you are expensively dressed. I wouldn't want people asking me where I got a classless lady from."
What a jerk
"Huh...Are you calling me classless?"
He glanced at me from head to toe.
"You are not that bad. You just need some enhancements here and there."
Hmph. This guy wants to make me boil with rage but I won't let that happen
"Get up," I said
"Huh?" He probably doesn't have any idea of what I could do to him if he didn't stand up.
"Get the f**k out of my face,"
Seeing him still sitting there, I wanted to scream.
"Oh, okay." He stood up "Don't forget this evening, my driver will come pick you up."
"To hell with you and your driver."
He proceeded to leave.
"Come back and carry your money." I motioned to the wads of cash on the table.
Thankfully, he did as he was told. I heaved a huge sigh of relief when he left. The coffee had turned cold. I should have spilled it on his face before he left. I was about to call the waiter when I felt another figure hovering above me again. For f**k sake, can today get any better?
"Sure, it can"
"Did I say that loud?" I was startled when I saw it was Daniel
"Audible enough for me to hear." He said
Was it me or Daniel just looked so handsome this morning? He was dressed in the usual casual wear. A shirt and denim jeans. I could see his broad shoulders and muscular arms that looks like they could rip out of those shirts any moment from then.
I didn't know I was staring hard at him until he said, "I'm glad I'm a good sight to behold."
I blushed. Why do I have to embarrass myself? Emily, get hold of yourself.
"Hmm." I cleared my throat.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I came to grab breakfast; just like you." Then he called the waiter.
"I'll have the same thing she had," Daniel told him.
"Okay." The waiter said and left.
"You looked pissed when I came in. Is anything wrong?" He asked.
I like his tone. Omg! Is he worried about me?
"It's just some random guy. You don't need to worry about him."
"Do you know him before?"
"No. I met him here at the restaurant," I scoffed inwardly. More like he found me.
Daniel
I was at the gym when Hardy came in.
"Boss." He called
I stepped down from the thread mill.
"What do we have?" I asked.
"She's an artist and she works at the Jordan Inc. Art Exhibition Center."
I guessed right. What is she doing at Sanel Beach?
"Boss...she doesn't have any relationship with Mark Johnson. Our intel shows she only met him here at Sanel Beach and doesn't know much about him either." Hardy added.
"Okay, continue to investigate. We can't keep our guards down."
"Okay, Boss," Hardy said and left.
I finished with the thread mill and went to take a shower. I walked into the living room when I was done.
"Boss, what are you having for breakfast?" Hardy asked as soon as I entered the living room.
"Where's her current location?"
"Huh?...oh, okay. I'll check." Hardy typed away on the laptop.
"Mc Kensy."
"Let's go grab breakfast at Mc Kensy." I picked up my jacket and left the room, leaving no room for objections.
I was boiling in rage when I entered Mc Kensy and saw her sitting with Mark. Didn't Hardy say they have no relationship with each other?
Just then, I heard her telling him to get up. The scene wasn't heartwarming.
"Come back and carry your money." I heard her say.
Then I noticed the wads of cash on the table. Okay, I'm confused. I took a sit at one corner of the restaurant, I can't let Mark see me.
Mark uttered a mouthful of words, took his money, and left. Okay. That's my cue. I stood up and walked towards her table.
Emily was glaring so hard at Mark that I wondered If looks could kill, Mark would be dead by now.
"For f**k sake! Can today get any better?" I heard her say. She was looking at her coffee.
"Sure, it can," I replied. She hasn't noticed me yet.
"Did I say that loud?" She was always surprised to see me.
"Audible enough for me to hear,"
She's been staring at me for so long.
"I'm glad I'm a good sight to behold," I said.
She blushed. I want to see that often.
If she and Mark had a good relationship, she wouldn't be looking so pissed when I came in.
"I was hoping you'd call yesterday night," I said.
"Hmm...I slept off," she smiled sheepishly, like a cute kitten.
"Okay, what are you doing today?"
"Nothing much. I'll just go back in and see if I can do anything yet."
"Oh! Wow! You've gotten inspiration already," I cooed.
"Hmm, not yet."
"How about going somewhere with me?"
"Like...Right now?" She asked.
I nodded. I won't take much of your time.
"Hmm...Okay."
Great. I called the waiter to settle the bills and then left Mc Kensy. I had texted Hardy to go wait for me at Greg's laboratory.
I helped her into the truck. The sunlight was just the right amount that I needed.
"What do you do?" Emily asked.
"I'm a fisherman. Sanel Beach is a great place for people like us."
She nodded and placed her hands on the car door, more like she was resting on it. The breeze blew her hair in different directions.
"Oh, nice. How long have you been here?" She asked.
"For as long as I can remember."
We got to the place in no time. I helped her out of the truck.
"May I?" I stretched my hands to take hers.
She blushed.
I held her hands in mine.
"You've got a soft palm here," I said, smiling.
She blushed again. "Thank you,"
I slowly led her up the hill.
"Tada!" I exclaimed when we got to the top.
"Holly Molly!" She clasped her hands together.
She looked so excited.
"I've always wanted to see something like this." She then turned to hug me
"Thank you so much, Daniel." She muttered.
She released me and I felt kind of empty. I'm glad she liked it. I watched as she brought out her phone to take pictures. She has a priceless smile. I couldn't help but stare at her. The way the sunlight filtered through her hair, illuminating each strand with a warm glow, was simply mesmerizing.
Her eyes, bright and sparkling, seemed to hold the secrets of the universe. And her smile, oh her smile, was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
I was completely entranced, unable to tear my gaze away from her. It was as if time had stood still, and the only thing that existed in the world was this beautiful young lady before me.
As she approached me, I felt my heart skip a beat.
"Ahh...I,"
I stumbled over my words, struggling to form a coherent sentence.
She smiled at me, and I felt my knees go weak. It was as if I had been struck by Cupid's arrow, and I knew then and there that I had fallen under her spell.
I would do anything to make her happy, to see that smile on her face once again. For me, there was no one else in the world but her, and I knew that I would be forever mesmerized by her beauty and grace.
Emily
As I stood at the top of the hill, the world before me seemed to stretch out as far as the eye could see. Rolling hills and valleys dotted with clusters of trees filled the landscape, and in the distance, I could make out the glimmering blue of a river winding its way through the countryside.
But it was the view of the houses that truly captured my attention. Small, brightly colored homes with sloping roofs and neat gardens lined the winding roads, their smokestacks sending thin tendrils of smoke up into the crisp autumn air.
I could see children playing in the yards, their laughter carried up to me on the gentle breeze, and dogs barking as they chased each other across the fields.
Then the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting the world in a warm golden light, the houses seemed to glow with a life of their own.
It was a beautiful sight, one that I knew would stay with me long after I had descended the hill and returned to the bustling town below.
Just then, Daniel's phone rang. He glanced at the phone.
"Emily, we have to go now."
He sounded worried. Who could have possibly called?
