The morning came. Lena woke up and remembered instantly. She was going to meet Plades! He had a job opportunity for her. It was still like a dream. Her mother had died and she was going to see Plades and probably earn some money. She did not know much about her mysterious neighbor. He had been the subject of gossip at the towns get together and events. Some speculated that he was a rich prince, others thought he was a bank shareholder who enjoys anonymity. He was somewhat like the town's mini celebrity.
He didn't do much to attract attention buy he was noticed and brought curious eyes. Maybe it was because of the fact that he didn't do much. He wasn't seen with a lot of friends, nor did he do outrageous things many young people who were well to do did. Lena felt he was similar and opposite to her at the same time. Her case was that she didn't attract much attention or spark eager curiosity.
People might speculate but probably got bored after a while, figuring that she was just an harmless weirdo. Anyhow, it was sure that her neighbor was well connected and quite rich. From the luxury car he drove, that was not typical of the neighborhood, to the manner he carried himself. However, he was modest. His luxury car was not flashy and jarring and he wasn't the type to act posh.
Lena snapped out of her thoughts and jumped off the bed.
"He is something, alright, " she whispered to herself.
She quickly washed up and put on some clothes. She was going to go to work then find a reason to ditch. When she walked in, she was meet with the somber gaze of her coworkers. They had gathered around her.
" We heard about what happened, " iden said
" You didn't have to come. Time for you to heal is viral dear, " Domer said
" My condolences. Go home and come back when you're sure you're ready, " Geoine added
That was it, Lena remembered that she was not supposed to be there. Some Co workers had called when they heard and the assumption was that she would stay home.
" Thanks so much guys "
She grabbed her bag that was on the table. Some coworkers went in for a hug. After the hugs, she went out. It was still early. Lena had agreed to see Plades by 1, the period she had her lunch break. It was eight and she still had some hours to herself. She decided to visit Sade's office.

The Downers therapy and counseling center was really elegant and cozy. It was such a bright environment. Lena located Sade's office after asking a staff. When she got to the office, she was asked to wait. Sade had a secession going on which would soon be over. Lena kept herself busy with some newspaper at the lobby. After some minutes, a young man walked out. Their eyes meet and they awkwardly greeted each other. When Lena got in, Sade was all smiles.
"You actually came! It's good to see you "
" you too" Lena sat down
"You look great, " Lena continued
" Thanks, you too. So how's work? Did you take a break, you're here early "
" My mother died, so I was given a break "
Sade's face fell
" Oh my God. That's terrible. Are you okay? When did this happen?! "
" Slow down sister, she was buried on monday. She died three days ago. "
" The funeral has held already? I'm sorry, i didn't know. I would have shown up "
" No problem, it was hurried. I didn't want to drag the process "
Sade looked at her skeptically
" Are you sure you are ok? "
" I think so"
"Because you seem quite unaffected "
" I guess that's a bit weird, but what can I say "
" I guess people grief differently "
" Exactly" Lena concluded
They began to talk about the funeral then to everything else. Concern spread on Sade's face subtly as she spoke with Lena.
"We need to meet more often love, " Sade said
" How often. I intended this to be a one time thing "
" i miss you and talking to you. Our friendship was a thing of legend Lithium " Sade smiled
" Lithium, you still remember that nickname "
" of course i do! It was fitting then. Even when you changed name from Lily. It still fit. Why did you change your name? " Sade asked
" Ah, I've changed my surname too! I now go by Lena cucumber. Not Lena Duro. Seems fitting right? It now flows "
" You're right" Sade replied
Lena had to leave soon because it was time to meet Plades.
