She unlocked the office door.
The room was dimly lit, quiet, and comforting.
She left the door slightly ajar and walked straight to the corner of the room, pretending to organize a few things. But I could tell she was only buying herself time, trying to get her emotions under control before they spilled from her eyes.
I stayed where I was, unsure whether I should go to her or give her the space she seemed to need.
