The moonlight was cool against my skin as I wandered through the mansion’s quiet halls. I didn’t know why I couldn’t sleep. Rest had become a foreign thing since I arrived here—just like peace. Maybe it was the bond tugging at my nerves. Or maybe it was the ghost of Gina’s betrayal still haunting the edges of my mind. Either way, I found myself drawn to the east wing. Again. A whisper.
