When Caleb Leach saw his reflection in the mirror, his eyes widened in disbelief.

He had hoped for it, and he had also braced himself for the worst, but he never expected that within just a week, his face would have nearly completely recovered.
Though not yet fully restored to its former state, his skin appeared normal unless examined up close.
"In another two weeks, your face will be exactly as it was before," Violet said, seeing Caleb's excitement.
Caleb turned to look at her, momentarily at a loss for words of gratitude.
"Brother, don't you dare thank me—that would make us strangers," Violet spoke first.
Caleb was briefly stunned, then smiled and gently pinched Violet's cheek.
