"I want to talk to mate."
"I'm not sure that's a good idea."
"Why not, you got to talk to her. I missed her and Lexi too."
"She's recovering, she wants to talk about what happened and I don't want either of us to scare her."
"She's strong."
"I know how strong she is, but that doesn't mean we can be careless with her right now."
"I'd never be careless with her."
"Fine, I'll ask."
I hear Derek asking mate if we can talk before she tells him about everything that happened, and she says of course, I knew mate would want to see me. Derek retreats, I can still feel him though, I should have known he wouldn't go far, but at least he's giving over some control.
"Mate," I lean in and nuzzle her neck right over her mark. I missed our connection while she was gone.
