Chapter Ten

1988 Words
I could feel my breath rasping in my chest, my mouth and throat dry in fear and apprehension. I couldn’t hear much of anything over the blood rushing in my ears and the erratic beat of my own heart. “Do you think you can hide from me, prey?” I hear that though. His voice was warm and hypnotic, though it made my stomach clench and my heart race even more than it already was. I knew my hiding spot wasn’t the best, I was never good at this game, even growing up but I had tried, to make the hunt last longer. Perhaps he was only toying with me and knew exactly where I was. I wouldn’t put it past him, the jerk. I chewed on my lip as I heard him step into the room and shrank back into the corner of the little cupboard where I had tucked myself. His footsteps echoed over the wooden floorboards, making some of the creak with his weight.  I swallowed hard, but let out a soft rush of air as he left the room and moved down the hall toward another bedroom. I crouched there, wondering if I should stay or if I should leave my little nook and find somewhere else to hide just in case he did know I was here. I could still hear him at the far end of the hall, so I snuck out of my hiding place and crawled along the floor, as quick and quiet as I could, trying not to make any noise that would attract his attention. I was sly as I moved down the hall and under the draped tablecloth on the kitchen table. The house was dark, all the blinds and curtains were drawn against the light of the outside world, leaving only the fireplace in the living room to cast its glow over the room. He had planned this perfectly, as he always did, wanting me to feel real fear as he stalked me through the house after giving me a head start. I knew he had shed his shirt but was still wearing a pair of faded blue jeans and his work boots, the worn leather of a black belt through the loops in his jeans. I wasn’t sure if he had put the little metal claws on his fingertips, but I hope he had. I even wore an old dress for the evening so he wouldn’t feel bad if he ripped it in the heat of the moment. His eyes would be black from contacts as they always were when we indulged in this game of hide and seek, adding a notch to the terror I felt when he was chasing me through the house. My attention was taken suddenly when he went back into the room where I had just been. I could hear him rustling around, not even trying to be quiet as if he knew he had me cornered. It made me smile as I knelt there under the table, waiting for him to realize that I wasn’t in the closet any more. He threw open the doors with a growl, “Found…” he growled again as the words trailed off. I couldn’t help it, I giggled, slapping a hand over my mouth to attempt to stop the sound from getting out but I knew the moment it happened, that he had heard me. s**t.  “Ohh pretty little kitten, you can’t hide from me,” he crooned at me from the hallway. Oh s**t, s**t s**t. He was going to find me, I knew it. I had stopped giggling, but his footsteps crept closer to the dining room with every passing second. I shifted slightly so my feet were under me so that I could launch myself out from under the table given half the chance. I caught my lip between my teeth again and waited, barely breathing for fear of alerting him to my location. He took a deep breath in as if trying to find me by scent, and I heard him chuckle. Gods I loved that sound, it was dark and amused and I knew at that moment that I was totally f****d, but I was so turned on I didn’t even care when I heard his belt whisper through the loops on his jeans. I hated that belt, it stung like a b***h and made me squirm every time, but I loved it too for the way it left its mark on my pale skin for days after a tussle, reminding me that I had gone up against the wolf and he had shown me again who I belonged to.  The table creaked above my head as he climbed on it. f**k, he knew right where I was. I knew I only had a moment to decide if I was going to stay where I was or make a run for it. The chase would be fun if I managed not to bump into any of the walls or hit a door frame on my way through it. I had to choose what room I would let him catch me in, luring him there with enough speed to stay in front of him for a few seconds. I could hear him sniffing the air again and suddenly the metal of his claws tapped against the wooden tabletop. He wore them, yes! It was then that I decided to make a run for it, taking a deep breath before I sprang out from under the table and ran for my life. He was laughing behind me as he got down from his perch and walked after me, the belt swishing through the air at his side.  I darted into the living room and ducked down behind the couch, hiding in the shadow cast by the fireplace. He paused in the doorway and I could hear the creak of the leather in his hands as he flexed the belt. My heart rate ratcheted up again and I swore if he came any closer he could smell how aroused the chase had made me. Crouching, I rubbed my thighs together, trying to get my mind in the game because otherwise, I was likely to run out there and jump him before he had the chance to jump me. Lost in my own thoughts, I hadn’t heard him come across the room so it surprised me when he was suddenly standing behind me. I let out a shriek and tried to go up and over the back of the couch, but he was too quick, grabbing me around the waist once I was standing and turned me to look up at him. f**k he was hot when he stared me down like he wanted to devour me, his hands gripping my upper arms hard enough that his claws were digging into the back of my arms making me hiss in pain. “I told you, you’ll never escape me.” I grinned at him, feeling especially feral tonight. “Is that so?” I asked him, innocently enough for what I was about to do.  Before he even had the chance to reply, I had kicked him in the shin, hard. As soon as he let go, I dove over the back of the couch and rolled to the floor, coming up in a crouch while I growled back at him, snapping my teeth. He looked amused and I knew I was in for it, but it had been worth it. He vaulted himself over the back of the couch and grabbed me by the front of my dress, staring me in the face while he dug his claws into the fabric and ripped it leaving me standing naked in the firelight. He let out another amused chuckle and closed the space between us, gripping me by the throat, his fingers squeezing the sides while his claws dug into my skin. I barely caught my breath before he kissed me, his lips crashing down to claim my own while he backed me across the room and against the wall near the front window. Even though the curtains were drawn and no one could see in, it thrilled me to know how close we were to being exposed. I kissed him back passionately, my hands on his chest, until he pulled away, biting my lower lip hard and nuzzling his face against the side of my head. “Turn around and put your hands on the wall.” I knew what was coming, but complied, obedient to his demands as I braced myself against the wall, my cheek pressed to it.  The first swing set the pace for the rest and my body jumped every time the leather cracked against the soft skin of my ass and thighs. He was not playing around tonight, looking for tears, for my cries of pain and I knew he would have them before the night was over. “Arms behind your back, kitten,” He whispered to me, making me shiver as I pulled my shoulders back, each hand gripping the opposite forearm at the small of my back. He didn’t tie me, his words were enough to keep me where he wanted me now and he knew it. The pace picked up as the leather slapped against my skin over and over, making me dance from one foot to the other until I could barely hold myself up. He knew it and pinned me against the wall with his body, dropping the belt to the floor. His left hand slid up to wrap around my throat again and his right gripped a breast before sliding down between my thighs. “Look at what a mess you are for me, kitten. Do you like it when I’m big and scary?” His voice was dark and delicious, threatening in the best way as he whispered a growl in my ear, fluttering the little baby hairs with his breath. “Yes,” I breathed just before he squeezed my throat again and rubbed his hand up and down slick flesh, making me moan and squirm against him. “Is this what you want?” He asked, taunting, teasing, rubbing harder as he spoke even though he knew his touch drove me crazy with need. I tried to reply but I was too busy trying to rub against his palm, which he stopped by shoving a knee between my thighs, using his weight to pin me harder to the wall. “I asked you a question,” his voice came again, a threat, a promise of more violence should I not comply. f**k. Think, think think. You can do this. “Please,” I begged, breathless, my head spinning from the way he squeezed the sides of my neck while his thumb rubbed that little hidden bundle of nerves while one of his fingers pressed inward, invading me in a way that made me gasp in delight. He seemed pleased enough with my answer because he squeezed my throat again and pushed another finger in me, making my knees buckle, saved only by the way he had me pinned, his hold on my throat, and the knee between my thighs. I could feel myself on the edge of coming apart and with my arms still folded behind me, I dug my nails into his stomach and squirmed, breathing hard and fast.  I woke up then, trapped in a sea of blankets, panting and whimpering as I squirmed in my bed. I could feel how red my cheeks were and it took several minutes for me to come entirely to myself. It was a dream!? Son of a b***h!
