Chapter Four

1414 Words
Alicia coaxed me out of bed around noon, a cup of coffee in one hand and a doughnut from our favourite place around the corner in the other. She knew me so well. I reached out and snatched both cup and pastry from her as I sat up, not even bothering to run my fingers through my hair. “Late night overthinking everything?” She asked, to which I wrinkled my nose at her and took another bite of the doughnut so I wouldn’t have to answer. She caught on quick, of course, and waited me out, since I took a drink of coffee every few bites, and just glared at me until I finished eating. “C’mon, out with it woman.” “I just couldn’t decide between nerves and excitement, because I realized that today is Wednesday,” I finally got it all out and hid my face in my oversized coffee mug. Alicia had the audacity to laugh at me, again. “Come on Rory, seriously, you’ll be fine. They’re a very chill bunch, you might even make a new friend.” Alicia was quick to shoot back at me as if she were daring me to try my usual bullshit with her today. Maybe I really was a brat. “Okay, okay, I get it.” I laughed a little, now feeling a bit silly over the whole mess, to begin with. I finished my coffee slowly, getting more questions than answers out of Alicia for the time being, though she seemed to find that much more amusing than I did. With the coffeepot and my mug empty, we walked down the hall in companionable silence, into the workroom, setting out a plan for work for the rest of the afternoon.  It didn’t take long for the work portion of the day to fly by, of course, leaving me more than enough time to shower and ruminate on what the actual hell I was doing. I was careful tonight with what I wore, not wanting to be too fancy nor too plain, and comfort was a must. That’s how I ended up in a long white velvet dress I’d bought the year before at the local renaissance festival and a pair of black flats. Plus, if the building was as drafty as Alicia said it was, I’d be perfectly comfortable all night, score one for nerdy shopping. I left my hair down, as usual, blonde turned to a soft lavender that curled like I had spent hours at it but had realistically only put some product in and left it to dry. Once I’d put on a bit of makeup, eyeliner and mascara, plus some lip tint, I made my way downstairs. Alicia whistled when she saw me, but hell if she thought I looked good, she hadn’t looked at herself in the mirror, which I knew was bullshit. She’d pulled out all the stops, tight black jeans with knee-high boots, a red lace corset with a black button-down under it, and she’d topped it off with a high ponytail and a leather jacket.  “And you said this was chill!” I gasped at her, obviously looking her up and down. She looked every bit the part of a Domme tonight, and I don’t think I’d ever noticed that about her. She just carried herself differently suddenly, emanating this, don’t f**k with me attitude that looked killer on her. “Well with Gavin moving in this weekend, I wanted to show off a little. He’ll be here in 5, by the way, you got everything?” I blinked a bit, surprised that Gavin was picking us up, to which Alicia explained that part of his new tasks was to drive her if he was not working or otherwise occupied with something important. I smirked and shook my head a little, amused, and oddly somewhat jealous. That part shocked me, of course, I hadn’t thought I would ever actually move forward with these ideas and fantasies I had, but it seemed that the Universe had other plans for me.I wasn’t going to argue, this had the chance of being much, much better than what I could think up on my own.  The drive through town was quiet, it was snowing again, though not badly, and that made everything shine just a little brighter. I lost myself staring out the window until we pulled into a parking lot in the older side of the city and it was time. I gave myself a little pep talk and Gavin even grinned at me. “Seriously, you’ll be fine, they’re all great,” he offered, squeezing my arm before locking the car and following Alicia across the street to an older looking house that had been made into a*****e, at least on the bottom. We had arrived a little early so I could be introduced around, which thankfully was less awkward than I thought it might be. Everyone really did seem nice, at least at first glance, and some of the girls even offered their phone numbers so I would have more people to bounce things off of. Once the discussion was about to start, we all grabbed chairs and settled in a circle, well, most grabbed chairs. There were a few who chose to sit on the floor, all but two sitting at someone’s feet. There was that weird jealous pang again. Ugh. The meeting lasted the better part of two hours, during which I mostly remained quiet, listening to those who had done primal play, and those whose main dynamic was as primal and prey. It was fascinating, and the more some of the girls shared, the more I realized why this drew me so deeply into its web. I had been made to feel scared of men more than a few times in my life, when I was younger it was my Uncle, and as I got older it was a High School teacher and a guy at the local bar. This was different than that fear though, I knew in this I was safe, it was consensual, there were boundaries and safe words, and I could stop whenever I wanted and my Dominant would listen and console me. The strength it took to fight back, the joy in being allowed to, it all sounded almost too good to be true. We stayed after for a bit to chat and mingle before heading home, and I ended up swapping numbers with some of the men, two Dominants of the girls I had met earlier and one, who had spearheaded the discussion. I looked to Alicia about the single one and she’d given me the ok, looking perhaps a little too pleased that I had linked up with him. Did she know something I didn’t? On the way home we all chattered, and I came to find I was more excited for Saturday than apprehensive, knowing how welcoming they had been tonight eased much of my anxiety about seeing them again. Gavin dropped us off, and I went inside while Alicia said goodnight, wanting to give the pair some privacy. She came in a bit after and immediately started stripping off the boots and corset she had been wearing all night. I couldn’t help but laugh, because I was still perfectly comfortable, and nice and cosy, in my velvet dress. Alicia stuck her tongue out at me and I ran from the room, up the stairs and down the hall toward my bedroom. It didn’t dawn on me until I got there, how thrilling it had been to think she was playing mad and chasing me. Of course, it was just then that Alicia came up the stairs, finding me with bright red cheeks and a grin on my face. “I see someone had a revelation tonight, hmm little prey?” She cackled and walked into her room, leaving me standing in the hall calling her every name I could think of while looking like a child throwing a fit. I could still hear her laughing when I slammed my door and threw myself into bed. Jerk.
