Maddox appeared to be surprised as well by what the boy had told him. His hold on him loosened and the darkness in his eyes faded. The boy underneath took the chance and fled in fear as soon as he was free. He ran outside the school doors, pushing past other students and teachers that stood nearby, quiet and without a thought in their minds.
Maddox stood up and turned to one of the teachers, “Where is she?” He asked, his voice low and rasping. I barely heard him.
