CHAPTER 35 The door opened by itself. I drew my hand back and gasped upon finding Mom standing on the other end of the doorway, still wearing her robe while her face turned red in anger. I swallowed hard and felt the thudding of my heart reaching to my chest. “Get in.” She moved away from the doorway, opening the door and letting me in. I hesitated for a few seconds before walking inside. I flinched upon hearing the door behind me slam shut, the thud echoed across the entire house. Then and there, I knew there was no escape from this.
