CHAPTER 38 I leaned closer to him, close enough till I felt his warmth meddling with mine. He stroked his thumb across my cheek, finding the bruise that formed over night from the hit my mother took on me at Saturday night. “Tell me. What happened?” His voice was gentle, but I was unsure if I wanted to respond to him. “I can’t.” I whispered, shaking my head. “Look at me,” He slipped his fingers underneath my chin and rose my head, “I want to know what happened to you.
