CHAPTER 40 I screamed for Mom a couple more times before I went down the stairs and tried to keep myself warm. Time passed by. I heard nothing except for the silence. I waited to hear the footsteps but they never came toward the door. My body began trembling soon in cold, I rushed back up the stairs and knocked on the door a few more times and screamed for help. I couldn’t spend the night here. I would die from the cold and the silence. Thankfully, there was a light in the middle of the room that could be switched on and off. It was a small golden bulb which which had a switch near the door that I had found several minutes later after Mom had left me.
