My face was grim as I waited for Diana to answer the call. If it were really her behind Victoria’s disappearance…
“Hi, Damien,” she greeted me with her sweet voice as usual as soon as she picked up my call.
I didn’t ask her how she was, like I always did, but I went straight to the point. “Have you seen Victoria?”
“Victoria?” She sounded shocked.
“Yeah, have you seen her?” I asked impatiently.
She seemed to hesitate to answer. “I… Umm...”
I grew even more impatient and annoyed at her. “Tell me if you know something.” My voice came out harsher than I intended, yet I didn’t care to apologize, which I usually did.
“Actually…” Her voice grew timid. “I saw her two days ago.”
