34Loreley arrived at the surgery department and went to Sonny's room. The bed had been remade and the bedside table cleaned of everything. Where will they have taken him? she wondered, her mind in turmoil.
She went out into the hallway and stopped a nurse. "Excuse me, where did you move Mr. Marshall?"
"The patient was discharged yesterday."
There was no time to obtain any more information. The nurse left her standing in the middle of the corridor deciding what to do.
