Painful Memories

Eugene took a file and left the office. In the car Eugene calls Athena but she cuts the call because she is mad how Eugene hung up on her.
"No I'll not pick up" Athena thinks while eating an apple peacefully.
Eugene again calls her but this time she picks up the call.
"Yes what??" Athena rudely says.
"You know where I am going?" Eugene says.
"Who cares! Go straight to hell" Athena says.
"Okay, fine!" Eugene says and smiles.
Then he starts counting quietly from 1. When he reached at 4 "Yeah! yeah!! Stop counting. Tell me where are you going??" Athena says while Eugene smiles happily.
"I'm about to go to meet your love of life," Eugene says.
"Wha…t?? You are going to meet Mara" Athena shockingly says.
"Woah! That's what we call true love. You know who I am talking about without listening to her name" Eugene teasingly says.
"If you don't stop here then I'll kill you before her. Are you going to say sorry?" Athena asks.
"Nope! Sorry, and me. Eugene never says sorry to anyone" Eugene says.
"Then I'll throw you in the swimming pool," Athena threatened him.
"But Boo! You are such a fool. You don't know I can swim" Eugene says.
"No but your Boo is smart as f#ck. She will tie weights with you and tie your hands and legs then throw you in water" Athena says.
"That's what Mara thinks. You both also think the same. Mara thinks like a psycho and you think like super psycho. Best couple ever" Eugene says.
"Dad is calling me, my aunt came and I have to give her hugs and special kisses" Athena says.
"And you have to go because your loving guards are waiting for you," she added.
"Nope! Nothing is wrong now because you aren't with me" Eugene says and Athena pouts.
"And today I have a special connection and till then you will give hugs and kisses to your aunt on behalf of me" Eugene says and ends the call.
Eugene enters Mara's apartment and confidently gies towards the guard and in a cool voice gives him a smile.
"You came again, I told you this time I will call the police," the guard says.
"Ah-uh!! First class movie tickets for you and 20 dollars for snacks. What do you think, deal?? Eugene says while placing the ticket and money in front of him but he shakes his head as a no.
"40 dollars??" Eugene says but the guard still denies.
"60 dollars and 20 cents. That's all I have, if you want more then sell me and get your money" Eugene says while giving a guard his all money and about to go upstairs when guard grabs his wrist.
"Where are you going?? Am I a fool to you?" Guard says.
"But I already gave you all my money," Eugene says.
"I want more and get lost" guard says and Eugene leaves.
Eugene calls Athena.
Athena comes at her aunt and gives her hugs and kisses.
"One kiss from me, another one from my Dumbass Eugene," Athena says.
"Eugene, huh? How is he?" her aunt asks.
"He is doing great. I was talking to him before I came here. You both sit, I'll come with my special coffee" Athena says and goes to the kitchen.
"Eugene!!" her aunt says while Mr.Walton nervously smiles as well as she did.
"What are you talking about? Arranged marriage of our daughter. That's wrong, '' Nora says.
"But I know she and Eugene are best friends but you see their relationship hasn't grown yet and that boy is handsome, well mannered and well settled just like our Ath…!" Aunt says while her husband kept hinted to her to shut up but she shrugged it off.
"But how could we? They both are still kids" Nora asks.
"They were kids but now they are adults. You aren't narrow minded but others will talk about them not in a good way. And Mr.Walton you have to still marry her with someone someday why not he?" Aunt explains.
Athena's cell phone rings when she's making her special coffee.
"Hey!" Athena says.
"That guard threw me out," Eugene says while pouting.
"Stop pouting and Hahaha! Where is your special connection?" Athena taunts him.
"Tell me what should I do now?" Eugene asks.
"You created this problem and want me to solve it, huh?" Athena says.
"What the heck did I do??" Eugene asks in a high pitched voice.
"What did you do? Oh My God, seriously. You are f#cking Eugene Joel, you never did anything wrong. I was the one who put cake on Mara Penelope's face, right?" Athena taunts.
"You know very well she was upset because of the cake. What if she broke up with her boyfriend or her boyfriend cheated on her?" Eugene says still in a high pitched voice.
"She doesn't have any boyfriend because if she had one then he was on social media everywhere but there isn't any news about that. Please try to see the world also except yourself" Athena sassily says.
"But that is a sin to see beyond good things" Eugene savagely says.
"And expecting something mature from you is also sin, right?" Athena savagely answers back.
"There is nothing between them, they are just best friends," Mr.Walton says in a slow voice.
"Then at least try to make her see his photograph once" aunt says.
Athena comes back with coffee while talking with Eugene.
"If you don't tell her, sorry. I'll never talk to you" Athena says while giving her dad a coffee mug.
"Really? Now the choice between me and Mara, great. Now she is more important than me" Eugene says.
"Eugene! You know you are the most important thing in my life" Athena says while giving a coffee mug to her mother who is smiling.
"Because you are my love" Athena says while giving a coffee mug to her aunt.
Her uncle and Nora smile to hear Eugene and Mara's cute conversation while Athena aunt and Mr.Walton don't seem happy.
Mr.Walton held his head in embarrassment.
"And if you don't do what I said so then I'll hit on your cute bum" Athena says while Nora and everyone choke on their coffee.
"No I'm not talking about mine but you. I know my bum is almost perfect. Leave this you will say sorry to her and that's it and if not then I'll not talk to you" Athena says and hangs up the call while Mr.Walton sees her and seems upset.
Athena's uncle and mom are enjoying the moment while her father and aunt seem disappointed.
"H… hello!" Eugene says but Athena already cut the call.
"There's nothing just childhood friends' way of talking, nothing serious," Mr.Walton says.
"What if that matter slips out if your hand bro? At least convince her to meet him" Athena's aunt says.
On the other side, Eugene is still waiting outside and thinking about a new plan. Mara still drew her father and erased him with black color. She is not in her senses. She takes out her treasure box and opens it. She finds her Barbie doll she hugs and her doll and acts like a child. She smiles in tears and then takes out a birthday card her father gave her. She opens it and kisses the card. Then her eyes go dark and intimidating when she finds a photograph of her family burnt on the side of her father. Tears keep escaping from her eyes. Then she spread everything on the floor with her birthday candles and took a candle for her 9th birthday. And sobbing while remembering her birthday and the conversation of that today running in her mind.
"Why did you do that Mara?" Penelope said.
"Bella, now you have guts to hide things from me, huh??" Penelope said.
"Dad! Stop hurting mom" Mara said.
"You both made me insane together. Mental mother and mental daughter" Penelope said and kept hitting her mother and locked her in a dark room.
"Dad, stop , it's hurting," Mara said.
"What spared you after what you did psycho?" Penelope said.
"If she did anything I'll leave her in a mental asylum, Bella," Penelope said.
Mara covers her ears so that these voices will not come to her ears anymore and goes to her bathroom and lays down on a bathtub full of water and tries to kill herself. She has memories of her mother and her good moments of childhood and bad, painful memories also. She is sobbing hard and about to lose her breath. She calms herself in water and smirks in pain.
"Now you will be free Mara…!!" She thinks.
"No one will hurt you again. You aren't psycho, that world never understands you. You are good and motivated" Mara thinks and smiles.
"B… but what about mom, Mara?? Penelope will hurt her. No you have to live for your mother" Mara thinks and is having panic attacks.
Mara gave a challenge to Eugene and he gladly accepted…!!
